When I explicitly refused to disclose my personal plans to an associate ringing me up, they used my shutdown of "no plans" as an invitation to press harder--behavior directly enabled by a manager who dismissed my concerns via email as nothing more than the staff's "many communication styles." It is insulting to be told by this store's manager that I should have to police their employees' behavior by announcing when I am "not in the mood for conversation" just to be left alone. When I pushed back on this toxic excuse, management simply ghosted me, proving they have no interest in professional standards. I am not here to train your staff on basic social decency, nor should any customer have to sacrifice their dignity just to make a purchase. I will be happily driving an extra five minutes to a store with class that respects its patrons; if you value your peace, dignity and privacy, I suggest you do the same. I applied to be a barista in training, I was accepted to work on the first day they put me on the…read moresmoke shop side which I was like uhm I applied for barista in training in my head but I tried to stay positive. They scheduled me for a 8 hour shift so when things I got slow I asked when I can take my lunch or how did they do breaks, that's when I found out they don't give out breaks or MANDATORY UNPAID 30 MINUTE LUNCH FOR 8 HOUR SHIFT. They considered down time to be a break but we were not allowed to be on phones and didn't give us enough time to at least eat. I still tried to be positive because I was like this is a easy job maybe it will be fine up until it wasn't, I felt that having a lunch would help recharge me but since they don't allow that I often hated going to my shift. Since day 1 I hated working here, I thought about quitting everyday. Also the owner and wife were quite rude and never there so it led to a bad first impression. The trainers begin to be rude later on I could tell they didn't have patience for me and today Friday Sept.27 I decided to tell them that tomorrow will be my last day after training for a week it just wasn't for me, and I wanted to stay because I confirmed I would be doing those shifts I wanted to live up to my word but then they told me to clock out and go home, didn't even get my tips and I made well tips that day or my paycheck so I will have to wait for the next paid period in 2 weeks. I then ask would u still like me to come tomorrow and they said no. So not only did I try to put my full effort into a 16.50$ job just to be fired but I felt I was mistreated and hope that me writing this helps future employees as well as the ones there realize that it's not a well work environment.
