If I could give zero stars, I would. The staff at this market are extremely rude. Some of my family members had warned me about it, but since it's close to my house, I occasionally stop by for a few items. The last time I went there, my daughter accidentally dropped a box of pistachios and a small handful fell on the floor. I immediately apologized, but the man working in the nut section came over and told me this was "not acceptable." He said he couldn't throw the hand full pistachios on the ground away because they are so expensive. And he told me that I had to purchase them. I explained that it was clearly an accident and that I would not be buying them. When I went to the cashier to check out my other items, he brought the pistachios to the register, put them on the counter, and insisted that I pay for them. This behavior was very rude and completely unprofessional. There are so many friendly Persian markets with a much better management in Westwood! read more

I purchased a package of lavash bread that turned out to be moldy (with visible green spots) when I opened it at home. I brought it back the next day expecting at least an apology or a simple exchange. But the owner was shockingly rude and dismissive. While I ended up getting the refund, he kept saying they should not allow that without a receipt as if he was doing me a "favor" by allowing the return. The real issue was not treating customers with basic respect as instead of taking responsibility, he raised his voice at me from across the store, saying things like it's against rules to give refund without a receipt and when I said it's also against rules to sell rotten food to people, he yelled that the bread was probably fine a few days ago (while it had mold when sitting on the shelf). To make matters worse, I've also noticed this same owner being rude to his own cashier staff, which only confirms that this kind of behavior is not a one-off. read more

I usually go grocery shopping two or three times a week at this supermarket. Today I only bought a couple of items, so when I got home I was surprised that my bill seemed unusually high. I decided to check my receipt and realized I had been charged $8.99 for an item I didn't buy--and one they don't even sell. I called the store, and they asked me to come back with the receipt. When I returned and showed it to them, they told me the charge was for a tulip priced at $8.99. When I challenge him, he said oh we sell it at Persian new year, which is in March and we may have put the wrong code. I said I checked the number of items that I purchased and this is extra item which I didn't buy. The owner then checked the surveillance footage to confirm what I had actually purchased. For sure this is my last time going to this place; I told him that I don't need a refund he can keep it and it's my last time here. Super Sun is good if you are rushing and need a few items at last minute. But it is much more expensive than other markets. After some exciting binges for kabobs lately at several different Persian restaurants, we decided to pick up a few ingredients that are only available in Persian, Arab, or occasionally Indian markets. Topping the list were dried limes, essential in certain stews, as well as ground dried limes for marinades. I'm happy to say all objectives were met here at the market, across from the Taste of Tehran restaurant. There's a fresh produce section, eggplant, Persian cucumber, tomato, and other essentials. The selection of Lavash and other Flatbread was really impressive too. I thought the prices were reasonable and comparable to other places I've been. At checkout we saw something interesting: Liquid Saffron for rice dishes. Saffron is priced higher than most grades of Marijuana, so having its essence and color readily available is stellar. I definitely need to go back and pick it up. By comparison I was at an Indian market yesterday hunting for it, the closest thing they had was a tiny bottle for Bryani containing glycerol and various yellow food coloring dyes. Nope. read more

I agree with the majority of the reviews- the owners of the establishment (the tall man and his wife) they are not welcoming. I thanked them after I bought some groceries, and they did not acknowledge me or even smiled. I won't return. I like happy people and this market's owners look bitter. There is a deli in the store, NAAR KITCHEN, whose staff, perhaps owners, greet you with a smile, are helpful, and thank you for your purchase. These are two different establishments under the same roof. I noticed that some of the positive reviews below are attributed to NAAR KITCHEN, but lumped under Sun Market. NAAR KITCHEN's food and service are excellent. Sun Market, however, falls short. read more

Ayhan kabob (houses inside this market /separate owner) has the best kabob and mediterranean persian farsi food. The owner is super polite and nice and cares about his food and service. it was my first time but from now on i will order from him only. almost 1/2 price of other places. big portions. fresh. great to go boxes makes it ready fast. there is tables outside so you can eat there. we ordered a combo chicken kabob that was a skewer of chicken and additional ground beef. it was big enough for 2. its a part of super sun market. the deli part free parking in back. read more

No price tag on merchandise and I think she assumes it's ok when the other market that I avoid "Tochal Market" is not putting price. B. Terrible attitude by the lady/ owner that was literally shouting at me when I was simply addressing my concerns in a calm manner C. It is an amazing market full of fresh fruits and veggies, beautifully displayed nuts in baskets, bountiful ready to go meals, and a grill for hot lunches. Alan was super patient as he went over the various home-made style Persian dishes and stews that are really quite healthy and protein-filled. He even suggested certain rice dishes to accompany and complement the meats and main dishes of your meal. This is a wonderful place for vegetarians and carnivores alike. They offer catering services as well with well-priced big family meals. I also noted barbeque grill equipment, samovars, rice cookers and Dutch Oven/Casseroles for sale. The tall clerk and possibly the owner of Super Sun Market in Westwood with the short dark hair is the rudest and disrespectful clerk I have had to ever deal with. Let the other clerks handle and deal with the customers, because you sir, have no manners and you are the reason why I will not be shopping here again. Or here's a thought. Learn customer service if you're going to ring up the customers because like other people have mentioned you act like your customers are a burden to you and are extremely condescending in your body language. Your lack of manners to your customers is shameful. If you think just because you're the only Persian market in Westwood, you're sadly mistaken. You make shopping at this place an absolute pain and misery. I should note, however, that the food service kitchen that is owned by someone else is a different story, and wish them all the success. They and the rest of the staff who make an effort to help and be reasonably nice to the customers are also the reason why I didn't give the is place a lower review than 2 stars. I've never been to a Persian market before, so forgive me if I fail to point out solely unique features. They sell a range of items from cookware to nuts, and Persian ice cream to sesame paste. There are whole bins of nuts towards the front of the store which you can buy by weight. The aisles feature pickled vegetables (onions, greens), fruit preserves (cherry, pomegranate), honey with the comb, crackers, enormous 2 foot-long flatbreads, rock candy in various flavors (saffron, plain, etc.) and taihini (sesame paste). If you want some baked goods, they have sesame cakes and baklava next to the ice cream stand. Which brings me to the ice cream. Crap, this stuff is good. Great produce and nice friendly service :) I come here to buy my Persian tea, nabut(Persian sugar crystals), and cookies for tea time. I bought a beautiful traditional Persian tea pot along with six very beautiful tea glasses. The also sell Persian Ice Cream but Mashtli malones brand which in my opinion is no where close to the quality and taste of Saffron Rose ice cream shop up the street. I think of this place as my one stop shop for all my Persian cooking needs. They also make really good food at the cafe located inside. I believe the cafe is called, "Farsi cafe". The best Persian grocery store I have ever gone to , everything is always fresh and very well stocked and also their food quality is amazing . One day I went in there and they were making beef cutlet, after I had a taste I have to say that its the best cutlet I have ever had so I bought a few to take home and also picked up so many other prepared foods which were also tasty and fresh. Their Vegetables, Nuts, fruits and other items are also very good . The owners work long tiring hours to make sure they provide good quality products for their customers and I have always enjoyed chit chatting with them and seeing them smile . :-) I will definitely go to Sun market more often and recommend it to everyone out there . read more

This place is great. I can't wait to bring my persian grandma here to find all her favorites. It's always clean and organized. The woman and her husband who own it are lovely people. I just read a review that someone complained about their cleanliness and covid practices, and I can say that this is ABSOLUTELY not true. I have been in there multiple times in the last year and staff are always wearing masks, and they have the front and back doors open for airflow. I found it safe, and I have a high risk household. I think this person must be a competitor or have a personal issue with the owners. This place is welcoming to everyone. I highly recommend it. read more

Turkish, Persian, even Kosher. Along the corridor of Mid Eastern fare on Westwood Avenue, it's great to have a market. This place has much to offer, and what I've had, I've liked. Talking whole wheat pita (several varieties including my favorite, the very thin, pillowy disks) from Pita Pit Bakery. Others, too. Much of what I have tried has been prepackaged --- and it's fun and healthy and at times, novel, to try stuff I haven't tried elsewhere. Of course, they have many typical staples like produce, and dairy. But some things, such as their dried fruit, are well worth trying. The peaches, for instance, are -- what's the term? Super yummy. Substantial, and sweet but not sickeningly so. They cover a lot of ground on their many aisles. I liked the boxed rice flavors that included lentils, or a tomato-based one. Really good cooking. Of course you'll find several hummos and other spreads here. And they have a sandwich/deli area, which was closed by late afternoon. They even have Mexican Coke, and I found Yarzheit candles here, too. Park out front. I've stopped by a few times now, and it's a definite GO. read more
