I placed the order. The initial phases of the purchase were outstanding. The credit card transaction went smoothly, and shipping was fast. At that point, I could have easily justified a five star rating for the retailer. However, when I received the shipment, I noticed that the synthetic "leather-like" material around the padded collar on one of the boots was disintegrating and peeling. The label on the boot indicates that it was manufactured nearly 4 years ago (Oct 2017). According to most footwear manufacturers, shoes and boots made with synthetic materials such as polyurethane generally have a shelf life of around three to five years. After that period, the materials can disintegrate due to a process known as hydrolysis. The actual time period depends on storage conditions. I wrote an e-mail to ELM shoes and attached a photo of the disintegrating boot. I indicated in my e-mail that I might visit a local cobbler to see if the boot could be fixed with a minor repair. To me, this would be preferable to having a really nice pair of boots end up in a landfill. After sending the e-mail, I visited a local Red Wing Company shoe store to ask for their opinion. The Red Wing store confirmed that the deterioration was likely due to their age. Red Wing suggested that I could wear the boots for up to 6 months, and then have them repaired under warranty if the condition worsened during that time frame. This would involve submitting a warranty claim through ELM shoes. At the same time, I received an e-mail from ELM offering me a refund for the boots. I replied to ELM that, based on my discussion with Red Wing, I was thinking about keeping the boots. I asked ELM if they would process a warranty claim for the boots if it became necessary. Up to that point, I'd been impressed with ELM's handling of the issue, and had "chalked up" the disintegrating boot to an honest mistake. However, that second e-mail to ELM was greeted with the "cold shoulder" treatment. I never received a reply. Perhaps my visit to the manufacturer's store offended their sensibilities in some way. After being ignored by ELM, I again contacted Red Wing. They agreed, in the absence of any assistance from the original retailer, to process a warranty claim directly if it becomes necessary.

Half of the kayaks don't have a price nor do they have a description and nobody's around to help. Trying on hiring high school students who don't give a f*** about their customers. Why don't close this place down? Why not?! It's pointless because hardly anybody's here and it's a Saturday afternoon, and I only counted four people in the store, totally ridiculous!!! While reading this review, I've seen probably 3-4 people walk in and then walk out with nothing in their hands. Honestly, this place needs to be shut down because it's not making any freaking revenue. Totally inexperienced management.

I called Dick's to see if I could get it repaired. The associate who answered the phone keep jumping off the phone to ask others about my repair. After three attempts, she said to bring it in. It took about 40 minutes to make the drive to Dick's Sporting Goods. Once I arrived, all the associates including Brie said Dick's Sporting Goods can't replace the tube because I didn't buy the bicycle there. That policy sounds reasonable; however, if the person who I called had told me the policy, all of us could have save ourselves some trouble.

Had the pleasure of visiting this location my thrifting weekend in Chambersburg the end of Jan…read more2023. It's located downtown, with metered street parking, with another thrift store in close proximity. Street parking was hard to secure the day of my visit due to an ice festival, but there is free street parking several blocks away. The front half of the store is antiques, large furniture and the like, all neatly displayed. These items were priced comparable to an antique store. As you head to the back you encounter household goods, linens, collectables, and such. They were heavy on dishware and cooking items, but they were displayed nicely, and all in good shape. Pricing was average, but the selection was expansive. Some of the misc items, such as a vintage Florentine box in bad shape was priced high for the condition, but most items were very reasonable. At the very back was a curated section of farmhouse decor items. I scored a handpainted decorative muffin tin with florals for only $1.50. By the register was an empty cage, which I assumed was for a cat, since this store benefits the animal shelter. They also had a nice selection of animal toys, supplies other than food, that appeared new, priced the same as a pet store. Past the register is a whole other side selling jewerly, clothes, shoes, toys, books etc. So the store is basically the size of two downtown shops in one. If you head towards the back of that side things tend to get a little messy and less organized. Overall I would say that side is organized but other than jewerly, care has not been put into merchandising. I didn't spend much time at the clothing side that day, but did look at the jewerly, which had a very large selection, way more than other thrift stores I've been to. Four stars because the antiques were a little pricey, the toy section was weak, and the parking situation. The positives are the housewares side for sure, their mission, and jewerly selection. I'd stop again if in the area for sure. Sidenote: I would not consider this store stroller or wheelchair friendly as some of the isles are tight. Glass is displayed low so be mindful if shopping with children.
