I've stopped here since we started coming here 25 years ago and can't imagine a trip without a new charm on my bracelet. The store is clean, well lit and has plenty of pretty things to keep you interested. Stop by and check out their selection of jewelry and items soldiers would have carried in 1863, you won't be disappointed.

If you are a Civil War reenactor, have any interest in being one, or desire some Civil War reproduction items, look no further. This is the place. As the area's best Civil War quartermaster store they have or can obtain just about anything you'll need to be perfect in appearance of a true reenactor or skirmisher. Everything is done close to or exact to the period. They have blankets, boots, belts, belt buckets, both Union and Confederate uniforms, campaigner gear, cavalry saddles, hats and hear gear, musical instruments, period gun supplies, rifles, muskets, swords, sabers, eating utensils, cups, plates, tents and so much more. The best part is that if you are not exactly sure what items go with what type of uniform, the staff of Regimental Quartermaster are knowledgeable in every such item and there to help you with any details. The items are somewhat on the pricey side, but as these items are all rather unique or custom, not unreasonably so.

The walkways are dark, the shelves pile to the ceiling with wares and cabinets display custom made specialty hats, and the whole place has a somewhat magical feel to it. Yes, you have to like hates but if you do there's a vague sense of a wonderland with different surprises found in the corners and if you're only interested in hats, which are no longer as fashionable as they once were, this is a place to further explore your interest. They not only sell hats but also make them so if you see something you like but they don't have your size, they can probably make it for you. His main market seems to be historical re-enactors, but he also makes fashionable hate like fedoras and Derbys and is more than willing to talk to you about design, look materials and the price for this customer made hat is on a par with well known brands like Mcgill and Stetson (I like hats) So why only 4 stars? Two things. 1 is convenience. the store is only open on Fridays and weekends, great for tourist trade on the weekends but otherwise difficult. I'd been visiting Gettysburg for years before I happened to be there on a day they were open. the other is a little more twitchy but it was reliability. I did have a hat made and when I got it, it was perfect. :) BUT it was weeks later than I was told at the time. I wasn't informed there would be a delay, I just let a few weeks pass over the estimate i was given and then reached. Then they told me they were a little backed up. It would have helped me had they reached out to me, rather than me having to sit and wonder.

It is one of the best looking hats I ever owned and is extremely comfortable. It is the fourth hat that I've ordered from Billy. I ordered two Civil War era hats several years ago that my sister in law commandeered. She loves them!! I've been going to Fishbone for years and they've always been nice. Same people have been there for EVER so they know what they're doing. It's a fun place to go because they have a bit of everything. Lots of shoes, especially. Like, skate brands, urban brands but also ones that your mom would want, like Vionic or Dansko. Plus all the trendy ones the teenagers love like Vans, Converse, Adidas. In the winter they got some killer boots and I got a fantastic pair of Hoka One One running shoes there before. They also have sportswear and outdoor brands like Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear (which they just started carrying in women's sizes, whoo-hoo!!). Some Marmot too, I think? And disc golf discs! But also they got trinkets and fun stuff. Like Funko Pops, hemp necklaces, Manic Panic hair dye, tie-dye everything, posters, concert tees. Also THE BEST place for hats in the mall. Hands down. Hanover Mall doesn't got a Lids, so this place kinda nails that vacancy. They change their inventory a lot. I remember seeing yo-yos and juggling equipment back in the day. Give them a try, it's always changing.

Don't know how the same people could have worked there for years when I only saw teenage employees on both occasions I went in the store. They were nice but didn't do their job correctly and the price of a board was wasted. Staff sold a regular sized skateboard to parent for a 12 year old saying it was the right size. Clearly too big for the kid and was never used, not mounted, and they would not take it back though their policy clearly states exchange for store credit accepted with receipt. Error by the staff means customer problem. They even have sizing charts on some of their complete boards and ignorant employee failed to utilize it!! I won't take my business there again.
