I came by Super Sergio's on Convoy last night around 11:30pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area is a simple covered seating space with about 8 booths.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a basic bean and cheese burrito for the very reasonable price of $7.85. Service was great. The woman who took my order was nice and offered me a full bottle of red salsa. She also gave me two cups of green salsa when I asked. A highlight of this taco shop was the salsa--both the red and green were delicious and the perfect consistency. They weren't overly watery or too tangy. As for the bean and cheese burrito itself--it was pretty good for about the first half. The second half had clumps of unmelted cheese, which wasn't great. However, the beans were tasty and consistent throughout. One other issue was structural: the burrito had a decent-sized hole on one size, so beans would ooze out as I took bites. Overall, burrito was decent, price was good, and service was nice. I'll have to come back and try out some other options to see what the place can offer. Update: Came back a few nights ago with a friend. We both ordered California burritos. Overall, they were all right until about halfway through, when we reached the grease that had run down the inside of them burritos. They were super greasy! The guacamole and salsas were good, but man were these burritos greasy. I definitely won't be ordering that again--or coming back for a while. This place has been around for a very long time and consistently provides solid Mexican food. The drive through is very convenient and seems to be the popular choice but there is a nice covered patio if you don't want to eat in your car The Sergio breakfast burrito is one of my favorites and is packed with bacon and ham. read more

Went here randomly. Got a California burrito. I asked what it came with. Asada, cheese, guacamole, pico. I said no pico please. I enjoy it with red salsa instead. They left the guac out ugh... sad... I'm not sure when they'll change the name, but this place is under new ownership - La Perla! Very tasty California burritos and 4 salsas, but not the best balance in the burrito. I found it very fry-heavy with one end having very little carne asada. Not sure if I'll return as many other great Mexican spots offer tasty, larger burritos for less than $17 each. read more

Every time i go there in the evening , the cashier would over charge me an average 40 cents. The same cashier has done this 4 separate occasions. I confronted him the last time about it and asked for a receipt. he says his register ran out of paper and made a mistake counting. So if your paying cash remember your sales tax in SD is only 7.75%. And not 13%. I want to contact the owners, just havent got around to it. Btw their food aint that good either. read more

We order the carne asada burrito and ceviche. The burrito was on the smaller side but expected due to the $12.99 price. The meat was a bit chewy, I wish it had more guacamole. The tortilla was on the crispy side like it was heated on the stove. I prefer it soft. The ceviche had fresh avocados but I'm not so sure about the shrimp that we didn't finish this dish. I ordered a California burrito and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed, it didn't have guac or sour cream and it was as expensive as other places that have it. Service was good, lady was nice and friendly. Supe4 Sergio's has been in the Kearny Mesa, convoy street area for so many years. Food is always pretty tasty & fresh. Service from staff very good always smiles & great energy when I have come here. They're across from KFC and in between Firestone & an automotive smog/repair place. The parking is limited, maybe 4-6 spaces, no street parking anymore. They've revamped the area so now the street parking is no more. Most drive thru & go. There is seating approximately 8 bench tables on their covered outdoor patio area. Casual no music & it was pretty quiet sitting there. Possibly from the plastic/plexi windows, which are good for our rsiny chilly days, but the warmer months it blocks any breeze from reaching you, unfortunately. There's two drive through windows. One, on the usual driver side, other is on the passenger side, although I haven't noticed many using that side much. So, I am unsure if it was closed now. If so, that side may be available for temporary parking. The tacos were made fresh & I especially enjoyed the guacamole it was fresh & had chunks of . I just would have liked the beef rolled inside to have been more seasoned. Seemed to lack so salt or season. It was just meat. The burrito (bean/cheese/sour cream) was good. Red sauce is tasty, with no kick to it, but added some flavor. They're open daily practically 24hrs. I believe it's 21 hours. It's still a great spot & clean. Perhaps the best CHILI COLORADO in all of San Diego, if not the world! They have the real Guacamole and they give you three extremely large flour Tortillas, Rice, & Beans all this, and more for just under sixteen measly bucks. BTW: They do a great Chimichanga too. ($12.50) Mexican cuisine; so many to choose from here in San Diego, it's what we are best known for, some are good, others great, and still others Fantastic and delightful. This is above all the rest, EXCEPTIONAL. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No indoor dining, no ambiance, no music, no TV, and very mediocre parking. This is essentially a "To-Go" drive-through restaurant. When I'm in Southern California, I need a BRC burrito (beans, rice, cheese). I had heard from reliable sources that Super Sergio's was great, and yes, it was. My internal BRC burrito meter was at full after I had a Super Sergio's burrito. The burritos here are huge. Like, you need two hands to hold them! I just got a burrito with beans, rice and cheese, and even just those three ingredients plus the tortilla probably weighed almost a pound. These are hefty burritos that are definitely big enough to share. (Although, I did not share mine.) Super Sergio's is super because they are open 24 hours and have a drive thru. They are super quick to get you your food, and they give you as much salsa as you want. Be aware that the red sauce is very hot! The green sauce is my favorite because it's not as hot, and it's slightly tangy. read more

Unfortunately they charge 3 bucks for sour cream, then forget to put it into the burrito. Ordered a cali w/ sour cream then , I go back to tell them about it , they make me a new burrito 2x smaller then the one before because they're petty, then the new burrito has nearly no sour cream , on top of that there was no manager to talk to , to make the situation better. Make sure you check your food before you leave the drive thru!! Did drive through for the convenience - no frills and service is basically what you would expect. Super unassuming place from the outside, but the tacos were actually pretty good! We got special #1 and #7 (cabesa and adobada tacos) and 2 chicken quesadillas which the total came out to ~$40. Make sure to get the salsa with the tacos - def made a difference for me. I would have also liked pico on it, but it was still tasty with the raw onions on top. Tacos are much better than the quesadilla in my opinion. The quesadilla was super heavy since it's just cheese and chicken, but they aren't skimpy with the chicken at all and it also had really good flavor. I think I'd enjoy it a lot more if I had it with pico, guac, and maybe some sour cream. Overall, I would come back if I'm craving casual, no frills, (cheap-ish) Mexican food. read more

We intended to go to another Mexican restaurant nearby, but ended up here because they were closed unexpectedly for a family emergency. I wish I had checked Yelp before we went, but alas, proximity won out. The reviews on here are accurate to what we experienced. The mulitas I got were fine. Nothing special, but okay. 3.5 stars. The quesadilla I got for my kids was slightly greasy and tasted "off", like it was cooked on a dirty grill. The fries also had an old oil taste. 2 stars. Unfortunately, the chile relleno burrito I ordered for my wife was inedible. Extremely greasy, like swimming in it. She took two bites before she gave up and made herself something else for dinner. Definitely not worth the money. 1 star. The lady behind the counter was polite, attentive, and asked appropriate follow up questions on my order, like making sure we got the right salsas. 3.5 stars. I frequent this restaurant because it is next to several bars I patronize. I spent over $100 last week because my friends and I were hungry, at the bar, and this was the best option. Gone are the days of the $4.00 carne asada burritos. These days there more like $12.99 per burrito. I ordered one at the drive thru, but noticed that Special #5 included beans rice AND a drink for a buck more. I decided that was the way to go so I went with it. I'm glad I did. The refried beans were delicious they had a tasty cheese melted on top. My cardiologist would be pleased to know there wasn't too much salt in them . The rice was great too, even better when I mixed them with my beans and added a hint of the red and green sauce ment for my burrito. Both had a nice texture and were still warm after driving a mile. My Carne Asada Burrito was the best part of the meal. What I liked most was the fact that they did not use an over sized flour tortilla as do many places do today. It was packed full of carne asada.. It was huge with not too much tortilla. The gal at the drive thru window was cheerful and pleasant. The parking lot was just a little tricky but not terribly so. I can't speak to the ambiance as I used the drive thru. This is a spot where I'll return on splurge days. I'd be even more likely to return if they had a loyalty program. The carne asada burrito was hefty and pleasurable, 8/10 rating. Beans and rice (7/10 rating) were plain but were practically free if I got a burrito and a drink separately. Pro tip, add hot sauce to the beans and rice to add flavor. Sp #2. 5 beef rolled tacos ($8.29) with beans & rice: the tortilla was too thick, and it overpowered the bland beef, 6/10 rating. I'm not sure what I expected from this place... but I was hoping it was as good as the recommendation that came with it. I was told to try the beef tacos and burrito. So I ordered two beef tacos and a carne asada burrito (meat cheese sour cream). They came relatively quickly, it's a drive thru so there's that. The beef tacos were okay. Nothing to honestly write home about. They seemed super dry or maybe the shell was stale? Not sure if that's possible, it just tasted mediocre. The CAB was disappointing. It had absolutely zero flavor and was swimming in sour cream. Not sure what happened there, but I've never seen a CAB as bad as that. The recommendation seemed like a fluke. 2/15/24, my first time there. Parking was very interesting. 3 parking spots available. They have a drive way. I walked up and ordered to look at the menu. They have sit down dining. I ordered the combo number 5, which was a beef taco and an enchilada. Total take away time was about 10 minutes. Prices on the menu or cash and they charge 4% for a credit card. The comb came with rice and beans. The taco was full of meat and was very good. The cheese enchilada was mediocre. I was expecting beef inside. Also, the cheese wasn't melted jnside the enchilada. The tacos fought back. So I was in the area, stomach growling like a bear, and saw that the Super Sergio's drive-thru had no line. You'd think I'd see that as a red flag, but nope--hunger made me reckless. I ordered three adobada tacos because I'm a simple person with simple dreams. First impression? Greasy. Like, slip-n-slide greasy. Taste-wise? A generous 4/10. Not great, but I hadn't had breakfast, so I made the executive decision to just power through. Mistake #1. Long story short, those tacos staged a full-on rebellion in my stomach. What was supposed to be a quick bite turned into a day-long throw-up marathon. I've never had food try to evacuate my body with such urgency. Disgusting? Yes. Regretful? Absolutely. Memorable? Unfortunately. Super Sergios is consistently a big disappointment. I have come in the past and been underwhelmed by carne Asada burrito and California burritos. However, my latest purchase was a Sergios breakfast burrito, and it was a major letdown. Their breakfast burrito meets only the minimum requirements for what would be required to be called a breakfast burrito. First, the overall size of the burrito is extremely small, about half the size of Vallarta or Cotixian Mexican Food - Genesee.... And I am not exaggerating, it is literally half the size, same price. Secondly, the taste is very underwhelming as well, not good ham, the eggs were minimal, very little cheese. And lastly, the hot sauces are underwhelming as well, they should really try to do a better job in all categories. The place looks very rundown on the outside, some would say disheveled, and that mirrors the quality and taste of the food you get from here. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere read more

Whoever the short brunette lady was working at the walk through window at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night June 6th should be fired... I am a pretty regular customer, My daughter and I have stopped here often. Were a family of about 7-8 of us that eat there.. Staff has never treated us the way she did. I am also a local Property Manager and share with others where to go and not to go. I stopped at Super sergios for lunch for me and the kids. That afternoon I ordered rolled tacos, carne asada tacos and the Cabeza tacos (my favorite) I had one cabeza taco and my son had the other but I started having a really bad stomach ache. when I went back to grab the other two tacos for my son, there was fatty pieces of i dont know what that had these rough spiky things on it and I didn't know what it was. At 1st it looked like parasites! Google says it's fat from the lips/cheek of the cow. I've never ever seen that in my tacos before not even authentic homemade tacos a friend has made, so I couldn't unsee it. I took my receipt and my food back to the Taco Shop showed them what I found. She looked at it and said oh it's normal. Cow cheek but they usually pull that off the meat and must have missed it. You make me two new tacos? I politely said, "No, I dont think ill ever eat them here again, not that we wont ever order other stuff, just not today . I would just like to be refunded for that order." I spent $56 earlier and I'm only asking to refund for the tacos.. She said you want me to refund you for two tacos. "Well, No, because I ate one of them in my son ate one of them but it didn't sit right feeling sick with a stomach ache and then seeing this and I drove over here to ask for my money back I think it's fair" and she looked at me with this attitude, "except you ate two of those tacos so I can't refund you for the two you ate. I just was surprised because I worked in the food industry for 15 years and as a shift leader a server and employee we always looked at when a customer was unhappy we want to keep them content to return. And I said I don't see what the big deal is for the inconvenience that you refund me. It's only one dish out of everything we spent earlier and I come here regularly we spend a lot of money like we have a big family (Literally between that days and the last two weeks we had probably spent a good $300 on a total of 4 trips there and this was 3 of us picking up for a total of 6 of us at different times, 4 one day, 3 another and once for a couple of us) And she just looks at me and rolling her eyes and wanted to argue with me, doesn't really care what I have to say, she didnt want to refund it, and I said well I don't know why you're making this a battle over one meal you know I don't have to come back. I can tell others about my experience just give me the the money back for one plate and she says I don't think it's necessary because the tacos you got there's nothing wrong with them that stuff is in Cabeza tacos all the time. Food is great...big portions and well worth every penny. Of course, the one day I finally decide to write a review we waited over 30 minutes in the drive-up stuck between two cars, so we can't leave. To find out that someone phone ordered an insane amount of food. At least the man at the windows was apologetic. There have two drive-up locations on each side and you also have the option of walking up. Parking is limited so almost easier just to utilize drive-up. Good amount of outdoor seating if you want to eat it there. You can't go wrong with their California burrito, carne asada burritos or tolled tacos. We consistently order those 3 items. We have been coming here for years. If we can't make it down south then this location is perfect for us. I do think it's about time I try some of their other menu items. read more

Spent 4th of July in San Diego and decided to have dinner in the Kearney Mesa area. After driving back & forth and several phone calls looking for restaurants that are open, we noticed this Mexican drive thru across from where we parked and decided that's where we're going. At this point we didn't expect much. It's a shabby, old looking place with several cars lined up in the drive thru, a covered patio with several tables. We walked in to find a long list of items on the menu which takes awhile to decide. They have items that you don't usually see in Mexican fast food place such as Caldo De Res, Machaca, Cabeza .... Fish taco combo, adobada tacos, special rolled tacos .... Portion is big and everything we ordered taste great. To my surprise hubby went to the window and told the cashier that he loves their food and put money in the tip jar. Well, he's usually the difficult one, so for him to like it that much, the food would be good for most of us. Super Sergio is super good! It's a great accidental find. They have 2 drive thru line, one on each side of the building, open 21 hours, what more can you ask. So if you are in the area and want Mexican food don't hesitate to give this place a go. read more

Food wasnt so bad, portions sizes is worth what you paid for. The carne asada did feel chewy and cold though. The sp #1 (4 tacos de cabeza) really soft and juicy meat. And the amount of guac on the rolled tacos is pretty good. Considering it was very busy, there was fast service for ordering and the food to come out.
