Both Travis and Angel politely introduced themselves to us and did a fantastic job moving items out of storage, bringing items into our house, and rearranging items within our home. I had a very disappointing experience with College Hunks and would not use them again…read more This was a move from a two-bedroom, one-office townhome to another home just 1.5 miles away, with many items already packed. Even so, Day Two lasted from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., which is excessive for a move of this size and distance. The most concerning issue was undisclosed property damage. Basement stair railings were broken during the move and never mentioned. I discovered the damage myself, and the broken pieces had been hidden behind a water heater. A dresser drawer knob was also broken and not disclosed. Several items were mishandled -- sofa legs were removed and never reattached, cushions were left piled in the basement, and a treadmill was disassembled without my consent, with an extra part later found hidden. The treadmill was less than ayear old and I found the part under some blankets. Packing quality was extremely poor. I found broken dishes, and many boxes appeared to be dumped directly from drawers with little to no packing, resulting in boxes that looked like piles of junk when opened. This raises serious questions about why the move took so long, given the lack of care taken. One of the movers took over 45 minutes to wrap a club chair. I was ultimately charged about three times what I was quoted. The team lead wanted me to have him and the lead mover come to my home and discuss my concerns! I told him I was not comfortable with that. They have my claim and detailed report. This is a service issue that management needs to handle. There was no need for the two of us to get in a room and both tell our sides ofthe story. After several weeks, the team lead offered a small settlement, which I declined because it would not have covered the documented damage, let alone the misuse of time and materials. After that, communication stopped until I disputed part of the charges with my credit card company. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this company.

Our items were a couch frame (cushions taken off so very light wood) and a bottom half of a recliner (so that piece was pretty heavy with all the recliner mechanics in it). I wasn't too sure about the "quotation upon arrival" bit, thinking this may leave me open to being price gouged, but that did not happen at all! I had a few local folks quote me $100 per item (so $200 total). 1-800-GOT-JUNK did the job for just over $100 total! The two men who arrived in the truck to pick up our items were super nice and professional. We would definitely recommend them, and use them again!

IE- 1/4 of the truck, 1/8 of the truck etc. They claimed my load took up 1/4 of the truck for a cost of over $300. THEN, they forgot to take the table extension and it took me an additional 2 days and 5 phone calls to get the item picked up. Their prices are absolutely ridiculously high and the customer service is seriously lacking. Other similar services are available in the area that I will be using in the future.

Jim showed up and was not able to give me a price when I tried to confirm it was the $160 we agreed upon. He said he would not know until he got to the bottom of the pile. He and his wife made an absolute meal of taking their time breaking down my junk and boxes, moving items that were already in his truck to Tetris the junk into on big load on the truck. Price came out to be a few bucks over what it would have cost me to just have a dumpster dropped off for my items and I could have let a few of my neighbors use it as well.
