Universal Electric was called to my home for what appeared to be a breaker issue. By the time their…read moretwo technicians arrived, the issue had already resolved itself. I asked them to investigate further in case the problem returned, but they declined, saying "there's nothing we can do." They never entered the home, never inspected anything, and only briefly stepped out of their van into my driveway to talk to me before leaving. At no point during the scheduling call was I told there would be a service fee. When the techs arrived, they made no mention of a charge, nor did they provide any kind of invoice or paperwork before leaving. I later received three bills by mail, each demanding $130, with no explanation of what the charge was for -- just a warning that failure to pay would result in the account being sent to collections. I did not believe the charge was warranted and disputed it in writing via certified mail with return receipt, which Universal Electric received and signed for. They never responded. No follow-up, no phone call, no documentation -- just silence. Eventually, they turned the matter over to a collection agency. It's frustrating to be billed for a visit where no service was performed, no agreement was made, and no information was shared upfront about potential charges. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Universal Electric.

Paragon will give you a fair price while still providing professional service and quality workmanship. They stand behind their work and make sure the job is done right. When I received a quote from Paragon everything was written up in a contract explaining the things they do and the the things they don't do. There were photos and descriptions for optional materials listed with prices. There were no surprise extra costs or added fees. I was in the hospital when the day came to replace my roof but trusted these guys to make sure the job was done right.
