When you drive around, from checking in, to find your room, you go back in time! It was a very memorable flashback from when I was a kid. The room was very large, the bathroom is very small, and there was a phone in the bathroom as well as the one expected by the bed; not sure why, but it was a little funny. Compared to a newly built hotel in the same price range, this was more comfortable. The restaurant is obviously renowned with the local community! The restaurant has that smell of a decades old, high-end restaurant; if you're not familiar with that smell, it is a very pleasant smell of wonderful cooking that has saturated the restaurant over decades. Everyone was polite and dressed nicely (the staff).

Keeping the room a good temperature was a challenge so it was a lot of freeing and sweating as you get up in the middle of the night to adjust it. There was two containers of food in the fridge from a prior occupant. Speaking of the fridge it froze our pizza overnight. Good thing there was a mini microwave in the room that could hold a single slice of pizza. Also, there was leg hairs in the tub this morning when we went to take a shower. Overall, I would give this place a pass. In good weather where you don't need an air conditioner or a heater to stay comfortable overnight and the room was clean I bet it would be ok. The tv doesn't allow you to watch Netflix on it unless you cast to it. There's only YouTube and other Google properties installed on it.

My wife had a very long day, a Saturday, getting up at 3 am at our home in Boise, ID, flying to…read moreDenver to purchase a car, then driving it back to our home. I asked AI what a good halfway point would be for us to bed down for the night, and Evanston, WY, was recommended. On our drive up, I researched the hotels in Evanston and settled on the Holiday Inn Express, based on the reviews. I was able to get a room with two queen beds at a very reasonable rate. We rolled into Evanston about 9:30 pm. Parking is free and there is plenty of it. Weston was at the front desk, a very friendly gentleman who had been working hard but was still personable and attentive. He very graciously, and without asking, put us on the third floor away from I-80. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, and the one we patronized, The Lincoln Highway Tavern, I recommend. Our room was clean, a must for my wife, spacious, and very nice. The beds were reasonably comfortable (I never sleep well away from home), and the room had the usual amenities, including a mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. The bathroom shower was a standard size, the water was hot and the pressure was adequate, and the bathroom fan worked well. It was very quiet; no complaints of noise. We did partake of the complimentary breakfast, which was open at 6:30 on Sunday, earlier than I'm used to, but very much appreciated since we wanted to get on the road quickly. The coffee was decent, the OJ yummy, and the scrambled eggs and biscuits were OK. The bacon was crispy but lukewarm, and the sausage, like so many hotels, appeared to be steamed instead of grilled, and was cold. The Hispanic woman attending the breakfast area was very nice. The female desk clerk checking us out was also pleasant. In the future, on trips to visit our son and his wife in Ft. Collins, we would definitely stay here again. It's a gem.

There are not many options in the area, so I guess they get away with charging a premium rate, but at least try to deliver premium service. Not much going on around the property and no sitting area around the property to enjoy an evening. Last time in the area, I just chose to stay in Park City, pay less to stay in a Sheraton and make the drive to WY.

Lets start, as all my reviews do, with the positive. Bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water and…read morewater pressure. Air conditioning unit worked well. Oh, and no bed bugs. Now lets move on to everything that was wrong with this place. I this is my third stay here in a year, normally staying a week at a time for work. The first was tolerable, in the back of the main building spring of fall of 2022. February 2023 they couldnt put anybody in the back part of main builing nor in the secondary building because the snow. Most places will use a snow plow, but these folks dont, so entire lot was an ice sheet. Now THIS stay. Was put in the secondary building, and the rooms are a bit bigger, yes, but over the past year the management has really let this place go. Not recognized as a Diamond member at check in, and the manager K.M. complained immediately that she was on her 21st hour of a very long shift because they cant hire anybody. Asked for an extra blanket and they didnt have any so was given two thin covers that they use instead. Immediately notice that the trash on the outside of the building is full, and its a late arrival, 7 pm. Wondered if it had even been emptied that day. I take photos of all my hotel stays upon entering, and did so with this one. Reader, take note of the dates that my phone camera logged on each photo please. Because this is very important as you read this review further. Only two bath towels, ok. But the sink had no plug, and neither did the tub, so dont expect to take a soak in the tub. But I wouldnt have bothered, even if I could since it was obvious the tub hadnt been cleaned in a long time by the dirty ring around it. Thought maybe it was just worn out but a quick scratch with my fingernail showed it was dirty soap scum. The housekeepers? First thing I noticed was that two of them spent more time walking around outside smoking and two others brought their 6 or 7 year old children to work with them. The front door of the building looked like it had spit or something on it and it was never cleaned the entire time I was there. (Five days). The entry way was never swept. There were dozens of dead flies in the window sills of other rooms, quite noticeable when you walked past them. No screen on my room window, which had a board in it to keep it shut securely. They advertised a safe, yep it had one. Unmounted from the wall or floor, so could just walk out with it if one wanted. The breakfast is lacking and they dont restock after about 815, although it is supposed to go until 9. They start removing items and cleaning a full half hour before breakfast is even over. Small yogurt, plastic cup of apple juice, and the waffles, eggs and sausage was there every day norms, when it was stocked. When I checked out I brought up the uncleanliness of the back building as well as telling the manager K.M. that the trash hadnt been emptied fully around the outside of the building since I check in five days earlier. When they did empty it they literally left some of the bags that were surrounding it laying on the ground. The same empty red box of variety pack chips layed on the ground the entire stay. How many times does house keeping walk past it during those five days? I put the trash can from my room outside my door on day three to only have it still there, with old fast food inside it stinking up the area. But here is the kicker, when I mentioned the problems with the overflowing trashes the manager proclaimed 'I call a lie, I have gone back there everyday and the trash hasnt been out at all during that time, the trash has all been emptied'. Of course this upset me, to be called a liar so I tried to show her on my phone the photos. She didnt want to look at them. I was scheduled to return for another 5 days later this month and our lovely manager proceeded to cancel my reservation to be ignorant and spiteful. Not a problem for me, they arent the only hotel game in town. And although they are a little cheaper than some, I used them to save my company money, but when you have a per diem to work with, going down the street to a nicer, cleaner and friendly hotel is easy. If you like filthy, mildew smelling, bare minimum effort from staff at the hotel you stay in, dont mind being called a liar when you bring problems to their attention then this is the place for you. Otherwise, head down the road either way and you will find several other hotels that will give you better service at comparable prices. And yes, I am sure the manager will submit some sort of response here. Just know that an official complaint has been made to Choice Hotels. And I have NEVER made an official complaint in the hundreds of stays I have in hotels for the past several years I've been traveling for work. NOTE THE PHOTOS WITH DATES as evidence of the trash and filth claims.

Our room was super clean, and they thought of all sorts of personal touches. Fluffy towels, a snack, coffee for two, and juice. There was a bed, dresser, TV, a putting on your shoes bench, and desk. They even had shampoo and conditioner. But most important part for me was that they honored our reservations. You'd think that would be common practice in a lodging industry. However there are chains out there that don't. I'll be back.

We travel a lot and had long ago signed up for Wyndham Rewards but never really checked out any Wyndham properties before. Made our reservation and we were immediately impressed that they had no issue with us arriving really late at night / nearly early morning since we'd be staying here after we attended the fair. The room was huge and they provided several amenities which was a nice change (coffee/tea, shampoo, conditioner, and even some snacks). The parking lot was completely full so we parked at the neighboring breakfast/lunch restaurant along with a couple of other vehicles. Great comfortable bed, nice bathroom/shower, neat office space, full dresser, etc. Decent TV too although we were too tired to watch anything. The room really was amazing. A bit dated, but that doesn't bother us at all. Just need a safe and secure place to sleep, shower, and reenergize before more traveling. We had the option of leaving our room key in the room or putting it in the mailbox by the office. We chose to lock our key in the room. We'll definitely mark this as our new go-to place to stay in Evanston moving forward. Highly recommend it when you're in the area.
