3 stars is a bit of a stretch for this place, but I'm trying to give it a chance- the staff is super friendly. We checked in early and got our keys but never went into the room because we were going to the races at Wyoming Downs. After the races we came back and opened the hotel room door (room 111). We didn't even have to go inside before we noticed the dirty carpet. It hadn't been vacuumed. So my first thought was, "what else is dirty?" So we dropped our bags, and I contacted the desk. The nice woman at the desk contacted two young girls (I'm guessing they were 16 -18 years old), and asked them if they had vacuumed room #111. One girl said yes, that it was the first room she had cleaned. So I said, "um, maybe there was a mistake, but I don't think it has been vacuumed." The woman came to the room to look and she said, "nope, it had not been vacuumed." There was grass and debris throughout the room including on the other side of the bed and near the bathroom. So she made the young girl come and vacuum the room. I told the girl that it gave me pause that there was a dirty floor, and that I wondered about other parts of the room, especially the bed. She assured me that she had changed the sheets, and she said that maybe when I opened the door debris from outside blew in. (There was no wind at the time - the girl was obviously lying- I'm 62 years old- insert eye roll here). But to allow her to save face I actually tipped her 2 dollars and said thanks for her "extra" work. She was probably embarrassed, and I felt sorry for her. I just hope she learned a little lesson about short cuts. The toilet seat was loose and easily fixed with a screwdriver. There was also something on the wall by the phone that appeared to be chocolate... (Gawd I hope that's what it was!). So I took a little piece of toilet paper with water and rubbed it off just to see if it was or wasn't a permanent stain. It wasn't! So it told me that whoever cleaned the room didn't actually clean it- so there you have it- a dirty room- maybe lazy housekeepers taking shortcuts? I dunno, but for $144 you'd think they could do better. C'mon Evanston!

Staff was very friendly, inviting and awake! The bed was comfortable. Perfect for a quick stay over to catch some z's.

When you drive around, from checking in, to find your room, you go back in time! It was a very memorable flashback from when I was a kid. The room was very large, the bathroom is very small, and there was a phone in the bathroom as well as the one expected by the bed; not sure why, but it was a little funny. Compared to a newly built hotel in the same price range, this was more comfortable. The restaurant is obviously renowned with the local community! The restaurant has that smell of a decades old, high-end restaurant; if you're not familiar with that smell, it is a very pleasant smell of wonderful cooking that has saturated the restaurant over decades. Everyone was polite and dressed nicely (the staff).

Keeping the room a good temperature was a challenge so it was a lot of freeing and sweating as you get up in the middle of the night to adjust it. There was two containers of food in the fridge from a prior occupant. Speaking of the fridge it froze our pizza overnight. Good thing there was a mini microwave in the room that could hold a single slice of pizza. Also, there was leg hairs in the tub this morning when we went to take a shower. Overall, I would give this place a pass. In good weather where you don't need an air conditioner or a heater to stay comfortable overnight and the room was clean I bet it would be ok. The tv doesn't allow you to watch Netflix on it unless you cast to it. There's only YouTube and other Google properties installed on it.

I asked AI what a good halfway point would be for us to bed down for the night, and Evanston, WY, was recommended. On our drive up, I researched the hotels in Evanston and settled on the Holiday Inn Express, based on the reviews. I was able to get a room with two queen beds at a very reasonable rate. We rolled into Evanston about 9:30 pm. Parking is free and there is plenty of it. Weston was at the front desk, a very friendly gentleman who had been working hard but was still personable and attentive. He very graciously, and without asking, put us on the third floor away from I-80. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, and the one we patronized, The Lincoln Highway Tavern, I recommend. Our room was clean, a must for my wife, spacious, and very nice. The beds were reasonably comfortable (I never sleep well away from home), and the room had the usual amenities, including a mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. The bathroom shower was a standard size, the water was hot and the pressure was adequate, and the bathroom fan worked well. It was very quiet; no complaints of noise. We did partake of the complimentary breakfast, which was open at 6:30 on Sunday, earlier than I'm used to, but very much appreciated since we wanted to get on the road quickly. The coffee was decent, the OJ yummy, and the scrambled eggs and biscuits were OK. The bacon was crispy but lukewarm, and the sausage, like so many hotels, appeared to be steamed instead of grilled, and was cold. The Hispanic woman attending the breakfast area was very nice. The female desk clerk checking us out was also pleasant. In the future, on trips to visit our son and his wife in Ft. Collins, we would definitely stay here again. It's a gem.

There are not many options in the area, so I guess they get away with charging a premium rate, but at least try to deliver premium service. Not much going on around the property and no sitting area around the property to enjoy an evening. Last time in the area, I just chose to stay in Park City, pay less to stay in a Sheraton and make the drive to WY.

Our room was super clean, and they thought of all sorts of personal touches. Fluffy towels, a snack, coffee for two, and juice. There was a bed, dresser, TV, a putting on your shoes bench, and desk. They even had shampoo and conditioner. But most important part for me was that they honored our reservations. You'd think that would be common practice in a lodging industry. However there are chains out there that don't. I'll be back.

We travel a lot and had long ago signed up for Wyndham Rewards but never really checked out any Wyndham properties before. Made our reservation and we were immediately impressed that they had no issue with us arriving really late at night / nearly early morning since we'd be staying here after we attended the fair. The room was huge and they provided several amenities which was a nice change (coffee/tea, shampoo, conditioner, and even some snacks). The parking lot was completely full so we parked at the neighboring breakfast/lunch restaurant along with a couple of other vehicles. Great comfortable bed, nice bathroom/shower, neat office space, full dresser, etc. Decent TV too although we were too tired to watch anything. The room really was amazing. A bit dated, but that doesn't bother us at all. Just need a safe and secure place to sleep, shower, and reenergize before more traveling. We had the option of leaving our room key in the room or putting it in the mailbox by the office. We chose to lock our key in the room. We'll definitely mark this as our new go-to place to stay in Evanston moving forward. Highly recommend it when you're in the area.
