I recently stayed at this hotel for a swim meet that took place over the weekend. Overall, the hotel was decent, but I wouldn't choose to stay here again for a swim meet. The room was generally clean, as was the rest of the hotel. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating. However, my main issue was with the hotel's location and its ability to cater to a swim team that needed to leave the hotel by 6:30 am at the latest.
Unfortunately, this hotel seems to be situated quite far away from everything on Three Notch Road. There was another hotel, mainly used by swimmers, that started breakfast service at 5:00 am, but it was fully booked. The front desk staff did their best to help by setting up breakfast at 6:00 am on Saturday and Sunday instead of the usual 7:00 am, considering the swimmers' schedule. However, it would have been better if breakfast could have been set up even earlier if possible. In the future, I believe breakfast should start at 5:00 am to better accommodate the swimmers.
On a positive note, the WiFi service was excellent, which was crucial for me as I needed it for work-related activities and meetings.
Now, let me share some specific concerns I had with the room. Firstly, the rooms were on the smaller side and felt a bit stuffy. I had a two double bed room. Secondly, I had a hard time sleeping due to the winter bedding provided, which made me feel hot and sweaty in the middle of the night. I requested an extra bedsheet the following night and ended up sleeping with two bedsheets. The air conditioning worked well, but it had to run continuously. Additionally, the bedding felt somewhat scratchy.
In terms of the room itself, there were a few issues. The floor tiles in the bathroom, right in front of the shower, were loose and made a crunching sound as I walked on them. It was evident that water from showering had seeped through the grout, causing the tiles to move. Moreover, there were water pressure problems, with the pressure fluctuating rhythmically while taking a shower. In the morning, there was even a water hammer when turning on the shower. Throughout our two-night stay, our room was only cleaned once. The first time they made the beds, they didn't have enough towels, but they left a note saying they would bring more. It was frustrating to experience a hotel running out of towels and having to wait for them to be laundered. On the second night, when we returned around noon, the room hadn't been serviced--no fresh towels or any cleaning done. I ended up taking care of it myself, replacing the old towels and disposing of the trash.
Lastly, regarding other guests at the hotel, some were playing loud music in their rooms all night. As I walked down the hallway, I could hear the music through their doors. Even on the third floor, I could hear music blasting from two rooms at around 4:00 am. Fortunately, my room wasn't adjacent to those noisy rooms.
Overall, while the hotel had its positives such as friendly staff and good WiFi, there were several drawbacks that made it an unsatisfactory choice for a swim meet. I hope these concerns can be addressed to improve the experience for future guests. read more
