I first learned of Sunshine Square from a sister-in-law. Really just looking at her daughter's detailed, engaging, parent involved calendar got me interested. I taught early elementary grades for 6 years and taught at another preschool for two. When it was time for my daughter to attend preschool I was very anxious to learn more about Sunshine Square. Due to the fact that I was so impressed and love teaching I went through the involved 3 step interview process and was offered a job. My daughter and I love every second we spend at Sunshine Square. She couldn't wait for her school days, loved and was truly loved by her teachers. I am sure her second year will be just as great. Last year we drove past numerous other preschool locations because Sunshine Square is amazing and worth the drive. Even if a beautiful new location in Riverton/Herriman hadn't opened this year we would drive it again. The other preschool I had taught at was good, but this one is leaps and bounds better. As a parent of a student, as a former elementary teacher, and as a current teacher at the school. I tell everyone you cannot go wrong attending Sunshine Square! Every child is loved and respected. Social skills including cooperation, making friends, caring for personal and school property are taught. Prereading is taught formally and in every activity from physcial activity to snack time to science and art. No matter what your child's level they will learn!!! The director/owner of the school knows the name of every child and their parents in all three of her schools and maintains an excellent rapport with each. There is a reason she has operated Sunshine Square for 28 years; she knows children and their early childhood needs. I have had a number of parents last year and even as we just started the new school year that they changed preschools to Sunshine Square. They felt confident about the school from the get go and in every case they said their child was more excited about coming to school. read more

This is my child's second year at Sunshine Square. We love it there! The class sizes are kept small and the teachers are so loving to the kids. They make them feel so special and proud of their accomplishments. I like that the kids can rotate from room to room (each room is a different station) and do different activities in each, such are reading, acting out at story they just read or learning their letters and shapes. My child loves to bring his show-and-tell that corresponds to the letter they are learning that week. This year my child has MIss Kim. She is so good with the kids. She gets down on my child's level and never makes him feel that she is annoyed with his constant questions and talking. She tells him everyday that she is glad that he came to school and how well he is doing. I have a hard time believing a previous review where the mother was upset that her child was asked not to attend based on being disruptive. My child is often the "disruptive" one of the group. The teachers work with him on what is appropriate behavior and how to act with his friends. Sometimes quiet time is used. I appreciate the teachers helping him with his social skills. Saying that he is "3yr" makes me believe that maybe he is just not ready to be away from mommy yet. Enjoy your son for another year. He will be ready next year :) Be glad that they know when your son is not ready and are willing to send him home instead of keeping him there just to take your money. To summarize: If you want your child in a setting with loving, well qualified teachers who will help your child develop socially and educationally, then this is a place for your child. I have had 3 children attend Sunshine Square over the past 5 years. It was recommended to me by a friend who enrolled her children previous to mine. I have been extremely pleased with this preschool. My children were treated with respect and kindness and were more than well prepared for kindergarten. In fact my two oldest children are Honor Roll students and I attribute that in part to the excellent start they had at Sunshine Square. One of my children that attended was a difficult child and I was asked on occasion to come and remove her from the classroom and bring her home. However, I was always treated with kindness and she was allowed to return back to school the next class time as long as she continued to show improvement. I was encouraged to and felt very comfortable in talking to both her teacher and Miss Suzie. Together we resolved a lot of her issues and she was able to return for her second year of preschool. My children loved their teachers and the school. They often couldn't wait to return the next day, even my trouble maker. The curriculum is fun and entertaining as well as educational and it really captures the interest of the children. My goal as a parent was not only to educate my children academically, but also to educate them socially in a classroom setting. Sunshine Square Preschool is absolutely wonderful. Currently our number six of eight children attends, as have the older five, and will the younger two. We always begin in the 3-year-olds' class (with Miss Bonnie) and attend two years. Miss Suzie has perfected the preschool curriculum over her 30+ years in the business. Miss Suzie and all the teachers LOVE their preschool children, and we love them right back. All the teachers are truly great. Our children develop a love of classroom learning at an early age in a safe, clean, and FUN environment. This is a dedicated preschool (not day care) with just the right class sizes. Each day they go through different learning stations and have experience with letters, numbers, calendar, weather, reading, writing, music, movement, snacks, and the fun, messy art projects and science experiments I don't want to do in my own kitchen! The kids begin to learn how to be a leader among peers. They have fun field trips and class parties. And their graduation program for the Pre Ks is top notch. We LOVE Sunshine Square! The teachers are absolutely Amazing. My son was above Kindergarten level when he left here and entering Kindergarten. He was reading, writing, counting, and adding! My daughter is there currently and with a late August birthday I was set on holding her back next year for Kindergarten; since she is the youngest and didn't feel she would be ready. She has improved soooo much the last few months at Sunshine Square and is ready for Kindergarten and it's only March and won't turn 5 until August. The facilities are extremely clean, I always see them washing, wiping, and disinfecting every surface and toy. My kids love going each day and rotating through all the different stations so they aren't stuck bored sitting in one room. They sing, and dance, and chant positive motos to themselves! It is the greatest. And, their end of year program is the cutest! read more

I have sent 3 children to Sunshine Square so far and will be sending my fourth here too. It doesn't matter which location, West Jordan or Riverton, they are exceptional. I live right between both locations and have sent my children to either one. Both are run by Miss Suzie and follow a curriculum she has developed over many years. I am impressed that it changes and grows each year and she is always looking to improve upon something that already seems to be down to a science! Parent communication is great, we haven't had a bad teacher, they are all so loving and kind with my children. They focus of positivity and make preschool a fun and safe learning environment. My children have all been beyond prepared for kindergarten by the time they've graduated from Sunshine Square and it sets them up for success in the very beginning. read more

This school is amazing. I do not get what the negitive comment was about. Our duaghter loves it here. We are so spoiled. She learns new songs, is learning to color in the lines, and most importantly they are teaching her the phonics she will need to learn to read. She is learning social skills, how to share (first born), and most importantly self-esteem. This school is full of love that nurtures each child on an individual level. The classes are small. They have the daily routen down to an art and are very organized. I can stop by ANYTIME! They are on top of security, and have been in the preschool business over 25 years. My only draw back is that this locating caters to a very entitled nieghborhood. So you have to watch out for those parents, but all the kids are adorable....for now. read more

I do t have enough praise to give Miss Suzy or Sunshine Square Preschool. The curriculum is excellent, the staff is filled with caring, compassionate, and experienced teachers. Miss Connie has gone above and beyond in teaching my son and she genuinely loves each child. I feel that my son is safe in their care and is learning in a very positive environment. There is a fantastic balance between fun and learning and the kids are able to stay engaged without feeling burnt out. I have personal contact info for both the owner, Miss Suzy, and my son's teacher and am encouraged to communicate with them as needed. There is contact and communication between the school and parents often. I love this school and will be taking my children there for the remainder of their pre-K education. read more

Sunshine Square Preschool is exactly what the name says: A loving environment full of SUNSHINE and joy. As soon as you enter the doors, you will feel the warmth of Sunshine Square Preschool. The poor review left August 2009 is from the mother of a son who would not stop kicking, biting, and spitting. He was obsessed with pretending to be monsters from his big brother's video games. I have to disagree with the previous post. I have sent two of my children and have many friends who's children have attended Sunshine Square. The staff is wonderful, the owner is sweet and hands on , the preschool is clean, well stocked and the curriculum is just the right blend of fun with learning. My oldest looks so fondly on his time sent there and cannot wait to go in and give former teachers a big hug whenever able. I have a child going there currently that is treated with such great care and kindness. I have always found the staff to be very open and honest with great lines of communication. We have been very pleased with Sunshine Square. I sent my little boy there last year and did not hesitate to send him again this year. He comes home excited every day about the things he learned. More importantly, we have adored both of his teachers and even the teachers who are not his. They truly care about the children and look out for their best interest. The curriculum is designed very well, and I know my child is learning every moment he is there as he moves through the rotating stations. I have sent my 4 children to 3 different preschools over the past 12 years. I have to say that I have been the most pleased with Sunshine Square. My youngest is currently enrolled. They are very hands on and the small class sizes allow them to really work with the children and they have a lot of fun! Last year they were very patient (all year) with my child's attachment to mom issues. They dealt with this and any other problems in a very professional and caring way. I absolutely love Sunshine Square. When we first moved to South Jordan, I had no idea where to send our son to preschool. So, I chose the closest preschool I could find. I couldn't have been happier. My son loved his experience there. I was concerned, because he was the youngest in his class, but he did well, and was very ready to start kindergarten. And, I love the teachers, staff, and curriculum. Now, my three year old attends Sunshine Square. Our friends tried to get us to go to other preschools, but I am hooked on Sunshine Square. read more

This preschool is amazing! All 4 of my children have attended and loved every year. ALL of the teachers are incredible. We have been at Sunshine square for 7 years and we have never had a teacher that we didn't love. We also love Miss Suzie and appreciate her dedication to her students. When I was deciding on a preschool I was very picky because I taught kindergarten for 3 years and I wanted something perfect. I absolutely LOVE how Sunshine Square is ran and truly feel like it is the perfect preschool. The teachers are wonderful and Miss Suzy is amazing. I have four boys and all of them have attended Sunshine Square. We have loved it! Miss Suzie goes out of her way to pick amazing teachers--each of them kind, patient, and willing to teach and have fun with the children. I love Sunshine Square. I have had four children attend and I am so impressed. Each one of them has been more than ready for Kindergarten and have had wonderful, caring teachers. My daughter that is currently enrolled is very emotional, but her teachers have worked with her and she is coming out of her shell and has improved so much in the last year. Our first child graduated from Sunshine square and was ready for kindergarten and in my opinion beyond the other kids in his class. We have just started with our second child and are already starting to see the learning results Miss Suzie's school provides. I would and have recommended anybody to send their child to this school.
