We truly feel like we lucked out when we found Blooming Mind Montessori. From the very beginning, it has felt more like a loving home than a school where kids are just a number. The teachers are incredibly caring, patient, and genuinely love the children. You can tell they truly prioritize each child and want them to feel safe, happy, and valued every single day. Our older son also attended here after we were told at another very popular Montessori school that he "didn't fit the mold," which was heartbreaking and honestly made us feel like he was somehow a bad kid. Blooming Mind Montessori did the complete opposite. They reminded us how special he is, that every child learns differently, and that he was still just a kid learning and growing. We can never thank them enough for the love, patience, and understanding they showed our family during that time. One of the things we appreciate most is that they really let kids be kids while still creating a wonderful learning environment. The teachers put so much time and effort into preparing thoughtful lessons and always have fun, creative activities planned. There is constantly something exciting going on that keeps the kids engaged, learning, and happy. We also really appreciate that, as a school and not just a daycare, they do a great job minimizing closures, which is so important for working families. Their summer program is also amazing and packed with fun activities. The school is not especially close to us, but we still choose to make the commute because it is absolutely worth it. Having peace of mind knowing your child is loved, cared for, and excited to go to school every day is priceless. We are so thankful to have found such a warm, loving, and fun place for our son and our family.

Heartbreaking Experience with Blooming Minds Montessori…read more I'm writing this review with a heavy heart after a deeply disappointing experience with Blooming Minds Montessori. I visited this school hoping to enroll my 4-year-old son, who has a speech delay due to a brain lesion--not autism, just a delay he's actively working through. During the tour, he fell in love with the place and didn't want to leave--he even cried because he felt so happy and connected there. Unfortunately, what followed was incredibly disheartening. When I called back to follow up, I was told there were no available spots. But a friend of mine called around the same time and was told the opposite--that there were openings. That was the first red flag. I waited a bit, then booked another tour online. The system accepted my appointment. But shortly after, I received an email from the director canceling the tour, saying they didn't feel they could meet my son's needs due to his communication skills. No assessment was ever done--they made that judgment based on a single visit. This felt like discrimination, plain and simple. It's even more disappointing coming from a school that claims to follow the Montessori philosophy, which is supposed to support children's growth at their own pace, in an inclusive and nurturing environment. Instead, I felt like they were using the Montessori name more as a marketing tool than a true educational model. As a foreign family with a child who learns a little differently, this experience was not just a rejection--it was heartbreaking. We were made to feel like we weren't good enough, like my son's speech delay defined him. He is bright, curious, loving--and deserves a school that truly believes in helping all children grow. I hope Blooming Minds reflects seriously on how they treat families and whether they are truly living up to the values they promote.

We were greatly blessed moving into a neighborhood close to this school and by the grace of God our children got in at the right time. Before each school year starts, each teacher reaches out to the parents and makes house calls - a visit to the child's home to meet the parents in person, give them the curriculum, expectations, and guidelines the children are supposed to have so the parents and children know the teacher's expectation throughout the school year. The teachers also give parents their contact info so the parents can easily connect with the teacher at anytime. I mean, what school can you say, that teachers come to your house and makes a personal visit to connect with the family directly? I do not know of any except this school. In addition, this school only has one class per grade - one class of kinder, one class of first grade, etc. The ratio of teacher to children is around 20 to 1. They keep the size of class small so they can keep the class intimate. They also have a therapist on staff for students' mental and emotional health! They keep the students actively reading all year long by having "battle of the books" per grade and have awesome incentives. Julie, the principal, is a "go-getter" and treats all of her students like they are her own. You can feel the love of JHCS staff for each student, and each student is known by their name. It truly is a second family. Besides all of the great things I already mentioned, JHCS is ranked #1 Best Public Elementary Schools in the area and has a grade of "A" in overall niche grade!

They started building the new location (PEAC) across the street so she was able to experience this preschool in the old and new location - it was such a privilege to experience both venues, but the quality of teaching and caring for the children never got affected. We loved the staff and the love they had for all the kids who went here! At first, at age 3, she was hesitant and scared to be left by mommy in a new place with unfamiliar faces. However after just the first week, she showed enthusiasm, expressed a strong desire to go back, and just so happy to be coming there! Miss Valerie, the director, was super friendly and personable and put me at ease in leaving my child in the hands of her and her caring staff. Miss Wanda was a pleasure to deal with every day, and she is just the most sweetest woman you will ever meet! We sure do miss this place as my little one graduated, and from time to time, she still says, "I miss my old school, mom!"

They did weird punishments I thought you'd only do to middle school or high school students, like make them sit out in the hall for being bad! We moved out of town and recently visited family near by and drove past the building...my daughter noticed the building and began to tell me her memories there. One was that her and a friend hid under a table together because she said they were afraid of one of the teachers. I've been meaning to do a review but never got the chance until after I heard her scared, first school memories today. There were a few things that were off about this place to me. For example, my wife went in to talk to the teachers to see how our daughter was doing. I don't know if it wasn't a normal thing for them to talk to parents about progress but the whole staff came in a small room as if they were all cornering my wife thinking that she was going to chew them out or criticize their process, when she just wanted to find out how her child is doing. My wife came home and told me how weird and awkward it was. It seemed as if they normally had parents come in and get mad so they had to all stack up to over power the parent. Needless to say we pulled our daughter out and put her in a more local preschool group and it was like night and day! She loved her new preschool teachers, came home excited and happy, and constantly told us she did not want to go back to stepping stone. Basically, they seemed to view my daughter as a problem and a burden, yet we heard nothing about this nor were given any guidance on correcting anything, until my wife approached them to find out why she was always sad and discouraged when we picked her up. They seemed to lack skills on addressing personal/individual skills and only seemed to go "by the book" for how to handle the cookie cutter child! I hope it's better now but sad that my daughter had these experiences.

When my child was enrolled at Inquisitive Minds (the same owners of Thriving Roots - check the…read morepictures), under the supervision of Kosheila Slade and Kristel Walker, the children were taken to the Aquarium near Sandy Utah *WITHOUT* informing the parents where their children were. When I went in to talk to Mrs. Kosheila (the director) and the administration at Inquisitive Minds (the same owners of Thriving Roots) about this massive safety concern, Mrs. Kosheila cut me off multiple times and then stormed out of the room in an emotional outburst. All I did was ask her questions regarding the safety of children as well as what her credentials were, and it was clear that she was unable to have a professional conversation with a concerned parent. She was dry heaving and screaming so loudly in the halls after I asked her "what gives you permission to subject children to safety issues such as this" that I would be surprised if everyone in the building didn't hear her. She tried to come back into the conversation she passed to another teacher, but again cut me off and started crying and she left the conversation to that other teacher to handle me, the concerned parent. I recorded the whole conversation. I didn't tell them I recorded it at first though. I reached out to multiple parents who had children that our child was friends with, who shared very similar safety concerns about Inquisitive Minds (the owners of Thriving Roots). One of our child's friends was allowed to carry a GLASS mason jar (you aren't even allowed to do this in a high school. You put glass on carts to move them due to safety procedures.) The five year old child dropped the jar, and fell on the glass, and needed 17 stitches and potentially has tendon damage in their hand. (The guardian of the child sent me pictures of the wound). This same parent/guardian called into Inquisitive Minds and talked to Mrs. Kosheila. They also recorded their call. She did the same emotional outburst and let another teacher handle the concerned parent/guardian. I find it VERY ironic, that the second I mentioned taking this legal, that they SOLD their eagle mountain location, and rebranded their American fork location.... All within two weeks of me addressing these safety concerns and telling them in an email that I have two separate recordings of the same emotional outbursts of their director, Mrs. Kosheila Slade. I pulled my child out of the school the following day. And they took their time to have the owners send me an email to address things. But if I'm being completely honest, they didn't address the safety concerns at the school..... it appears to me that they just closed shop and RAN. To me, this looks like an attempt to "cover their sins" and not take responsibility for their neglect in telling parents where their children are at when taking them off school premises, and for their completely unprofessional way of handling parents' concerns when there are true safety issues that are worrying to parents! This school is not worth the money it costs. They also claim to be good teachers, but Mrs. Kosheila (their director) isn't even a licensed educator in Utah (I had the state look her up). What this means, is that she cannot be held accountable by the state of Utah for her actions. I would assume that Thriving Roots teachers and directors also are not licensed educators in the state of Utah. And while this isn't illegal, it simply means they cannot be held accountable when things go wrong. Parents ought to understand that this is a safety concern, in and of itself. Find a better school to put your children in. This management appears to not understand accountability or emotional regulation. And if the administration, directors, and teachers do not understand accountability or emotional regulation at a Montessori school.... What are we paying them for? I cannot trust people like this to properly educate my child on proper accountability or their own emotional regulation when the admins have a hard time doing it themselves.
