The tax consultant did not explain anything - their policies or fees. She simply took my documents and asked me to come back later. Later, she quoted a very high preparation and filing fee. When we wanted to get a second opinion, we were told that there would be a $100/ hour consulting fee for two hours. A consulting fee is fair given that she spent time on the case. However, all fees and processes should be fully explained to the customer clearly BEFORE beginning the work. This shady business practice left a very bad taste in the mouth. I will never visit again and will recommend everyone against going there.

I have found the new business to be effective and efficient albeit less personal. They provide a good value and a thorough review. Now it doesn't feel as personal as it did with the "sole owner" model under Rick but I have stayed because the same basic model is in place - data is gathered, data is input to the system and personal returns are vetted by a CPA professional. I will continue to use and recommend this service until given a reason not to do so.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that they use a secure digital file system so that I could upload files ahead of time. Very helpful! On the day of my appointment, John was able to knock out my mom's taxes in an hour or less. Thankfully her taxes are pretty straightforward, but the federal and state returns were e-filed and everything processed in a couple weeks. That was great! I'm almost considering having Lee Mandel & Associates do my own taxes next year! Money and time well spent here.

I had a poor experience with a different CPA and it's been such a wonderful experience with this company so far! Everyone has been great at letting me know what they need from me in order to file and assess the proper documents and I received a full check-list of everything they'll need to file my 2017 taxes where I had to guess at everything the year before with a different company. They're organized, kind, and willing to work around my schedule which has been amazing. Looking forward to working with this team for many years to come!

The first year, I told them (repeatedly) that I'd be out of the country on tax day and they'd need to email me, but they didn't and I had email them numerous times to get any update at all. And the second year, I got my documents to them very early and they still filed an extension for me. In both cases, my taxes ended up being much more stressful than they would have been if I'd filed them myself. Additionally, my extremely simple taxes cost $570 total, which strikes me as exceptionally high for only really needing to deal with the two jobs I held during the year.

She is very friendly, personable and informative. I've also used her in the past, and so have my parents. We are always very happy with the service we get from Kathy at H&R Block. I used Turbo Tax last year, but wasn't confident that I did everything correctly. Kathy offered to check last year's return for free. It is easy and convenient to make an appointment online. During busy tax season I needed an evening appointment and was able to get in within a week. Getting our taxes done at HR Block was more expensive than TurboTax. I've used them at least 3 times, and it is usually in the $250 range to file both my state and federal returns combined. But it is totally worth the peace of mind that no stone will be left unturned.
