A few years ago I was in a pickle. I was a year late on getting my taxes done. Yes, I had an extension but I was no where near ready to do them when that thing came and went. I walked into this guys office literally with a bankers box of crud. He calmly sorted through my mess and got me going. Then another year I worked in 42 states. I had to file 42 state income tax returns. This guy sorted through the maze that was that and kept me on the up and up with the gov' . Then last year I finally realized that I needed to found my own business to deal with my previous 1099 life. He handled all of that and is now keeping track of my chaotic life and chaotic business. Even if you have not paid taxes in 10 years, go to him, he is not going to yell at you or make you feel silly, that is until he gets to know you. But imagine having someone to call to get answers. Beware for next Tax Season!!! (thank me later!) DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! Harpreet, Colleen & Steven are all garbage. Harpreet expressed that my taxes would not be filed until payment was received in full. He e-filed anyway before me paying in full,(without me knowing) huge screw up with my taxes an entire year later, a nightmare I now have to deal with. Colleen is extremely unprofessional & rude and prides herself on being the "Office Manager"(yikes) whom also acknowledged that she went and filed with Harpreet's consent prior to receiving payment in full they also acknowledged that they "forgot about me" so it's my fault lol (I paid you to forget me???). False advertising, among other errors in my experience with them. Reporting the firm to the IRS immediately! You would think these guys had some class being in Naperville. Think again! These guys will ruin your return! Please, if you're new and looking go ELSEWHERE!!! No remorse, no sincerity, nothing. Bunch of idiots, alllll of them. What a total sham. Bunch of clowns running all around this agency. By the way, they told me they e-filed without my consent because they knew I was expecting a child soon LOL mind you, wouldn't of made any much of a difference either way I also was not close to the deadline for filing so there was no expediting necessary!!! Cheap escape route, which also makes no sense and they're using me and the proximity of giving birth as an excuse to e-file early and without my consent as I was advised (and probably you, too!) that THEY DO NOT FILE TAXES UNTIL PAID IN FULL - WHICH MAKES SENSE!!!!! Steven - owner of the firm never addressed my email/concerns and when speaking with Colleen she said "Steven said we are not reimbursing you for the mistakes we made" Worst firm I have ever dealt with. Steven was great when he worked out of his home office. Once he got into the office in Naperville, things went south. Too many issues to list, but a couple of memorable ones are that he entered my husband's wrong soc number and it was a mess to fix with Illinois, in which I had to deal with on my own, Stephen offered no help, but rather nodded his head when I went back into the office and showed him. We went to SLHeeley last year after thorough online research. We had relocated several times in the last few years, and I am a freelancer and we'd just moved back to the area from Texas so our taxes were, as expected, not simple. We had a bad experience with our assigned accountant. We found her to be rushed, condescending and rude. We think it may have been an agist attitude, we are in our early 30s. She did not provide us with all of the information we needed and was not forthcoming with the process in which they file taxes. We had to reach to her several times to get a response and got no confirmation that our taxes had been filed. Eventually we got an email in mid-April saying we were supposed to have dropped off our banking information (which they had never asked for), so I dropped it off and called a few days later and they had lost it so as far as we know anyone had access to our bank accounts. It's a huge breach of privacy and poor business practice. We will not be using them again and we strongly advise that others don't either. read more

Steve gave me horrible advice and I ended up paying what I owe the IRS double. Yes, you do get a refund if over paying, but when your wife is on maternity leave and not getting paid, waiting 3-6 weeks for that money to come back is a big deal. And when I said Steve gave me horrible advice, I meant he gave me horrible advice through his front desk colleague because he refused to get on the phone with me. Horrible treatment. Biggest mistake I've ever had filing my taxes. Would not recommend Steve to anyone. HERE'S AN UPDATE given Steve's response below... The fact that Steve, has put personal information of a business transaction on a website (dates, etc) between himself and a customer should tell everyone the type of business he runs. Just so people see, if they cannot stop an automatic withdrawal, they should have told me that ahead of time, which they did not. This all would have been avoided if I knew that information because my initial call about this was a question, not that this is what I'm going to do. You can also see, given his quick response, Steve has time to comment about his reputation, but not get on the phone and speak with you about your financial well-being. read more

I wanted to like them and they seemed nice at first. But, wait until you actually have a problem. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. They make promises without any follow through. I chose them to make my complicated life easier but their lack of follow-through made small problems big problems, and so much more complicated. I had some adjustments and penalties due to an inaccurate filing I did when I was a 1099 contractor in 2010 (I was still using online tax software). Steven not only got the penalties abated, he also went out of his way to advise me on next steps so I could get payments set up with the IRS. In addition, I handed him my current year's tax statements and he saved me money after calculating my home office expenses--another thing the online software would have missed. I'm new to the area since the middle of last year and I've always loved my tax guy back home, but since I moved from across the country, I figured I should switch to someone local to the area. Yelp has always been great to me, but this was the WORST tax experience I've ever had. A lady named Crystal did my taxes. I walked in, she took my forms, and started typing away with her screen not viewable by me. She did not discuss anything about what she was inputting, where she was putting it on the forms, or why my return shook out the way it did. It was such an impersonal experience and I ended having to file an amendment with another company because she failed to ask me any questions for potential credits/tax write offs. That amendment gave me $900 more dollars...not a mistake that should be made if you truly know what you're doing especially if you charge $225 to begin with. I will not be recommending this place to any of my coworkers. read more
