Visited the Murfreesboro location for the first time and last time! Love the store but did not like the customer service!! The store salesman stayed on the phone the ENTIRE time I was shopping (sounded like idle chit chat) and never made me feel like a valued customer. Please note, that I'm giving Sunshine Nutrition Center a 2 star review because of my experience, and not because of the products they sell. As I was visiting the Sunshine Nutrition Center in Smyrna, the woman working there recommended that I try the "biofeedback" session offered at this Murfreesboro location. She raved about how this test could reveal all sorts of answers to my many health problems. Despite my skepticism, I thought I would give it a try. When you are in chronic pain, you'll try just about anything. When I showed up for my biofeedback appointment, they couldn't find where I was scheduled and gave me the impression that I was somehow inconveniencing them. No smiles, no "how are you today". Anyway, they bring me into their back room which looked more like a storage closet. The floors were dirty, the chair was uncomfortable and the introduction as to what I was actually receiving was poor. How it works is they hook you up to wired straps, which then connect to the "biofeedback" device. This machine supposedly reads your energy levels. After 1 hour of sitting uncomfortably hunched over (to compensate for the short cables they attach to you), I was given a breakdown of the machine's results. The whole thing was very odd. What I find most strange is that this magic machine looks like it was constructed in the 80's and purchased on ebay for $50. For such strong claims about how great "biofeedback" apparently is, where is the science or evidence to back up any of this up? Upon further research, I found an article that explained how one woman went to multiple biofeedback practitioners...each providing her with completely different results. Not very definitive at all. I could later vouch for this, as I had a second biofeedback reading at a different facility. Anyway... the practitioner asks you a bunch of questions and bases her findings on your answers. Then when they intend to scare you into thinking you have a half dozen different ailments, they then offer you products (that they sell of course) which can help treat the mentioned problems. If there was any professionalism to this practice, they wouldn't bring their clients into a filthy, cluttered and uncomfortable room and make snake oil salesman style claims without any science to back any of this up. I'm sorry folks... but this is a money trap for the gullible or desperate. At least I knew going in that the whole thing was probably bogus, but I had to find out for sure. Both times I shopped here I was followed around the store and watched by an employee. I understand the need for theft prevention but I did purchase several items both times I shopped there. I'm not sure why I seemed so dangerous since I was there with my three small children. I don't think I look like a thief. I am absolutely not one. I will not be returning. The employees were not only paranoid, treating me like a thief, but they were not friendly at all, even after trying to engage them in conversation. They also refused to help me when I specifically asked them to. It is a very unwelcoming environment. This is very unfortunate because I really enjoy using natural products and am not sure where else to get them. Some of the prices are reasonable while others are outrageous. I would suggest knowing the general price of the product you are buying before shopping here. read more

This is no Whole Foods, mind you, but this small health and nutrition store makes for a good place to shop in between trips. It's a bit of hole-in-the-wall, so if you aren't paying attention, you might miss it. Some of the other guest mentioned the cleanliness... on my visits, I did not find the store to be unclean, just very old. Maybe "dusty" is a better word for it... They have a small deli area that holds daily refrigerated specials such as salads and sandwiches. They also have a hot soup bar. The main reason I visited the store was to try their juice bar; which they proudly advertised on a sign outside. I decided to make my own concoction: apple, lemon, celery, ginger and a shot of B12. Not bad. It tasted like Thanksgiving dinner in a cup, and I was quite pleased with the $4 price tag. read more

This is a great natural and organic store. They have supplements, teas, herbs, healthy food choices. The store can be a bit chaotic and at times. They need a total face-lift inside with new shelves and better organization. But the staff is friendly and helpful. They always have what I am looking for. read more

We do shop here on a rare occasion when we can't get to Whole Foods and based on the consistent attitude of the folks who run that place we always regret going there. We always feel like we are interrupting them when we ask questions and always feel like our money is not needed at check out time. I love coming here. They have alkaline water for $1.60/gallon and Applegate products that are hard to find in bigger grocery stores. My only complaint (the reason I will not give them 5 stars) they are REALLY expensive. A 1-gallon jug of Garden of Life Raw Meal is almost $50 while it's only $36 at the Vitamin Shoppe. read more

I just got juice from sunshine nutrition and I had sea wonderful experience. I tried the apple, kale, orange juice and it is delicious. I will definitely go back for more juice. It's no Whole Foods, but Sunshine Nutrition has most everything you'd want from there! Plus they're family owned and local, unlike Whole Foods. The place always looks bigger to me on the inside than it appears from the street. They carry a tons of herbs, spices, supplements, and specialty food items. I like to come by for nutritional yeast and every Thanksgiving, this is where my family buys our Tofurkey (since that's how my sister and I roll). I guess my only gripe is that we have to special order this through them every year, which you'd think they'd stock up on for the holidays.. still, a stop at Sunshine pairs well with your regular grocery store trips. read more

Wife and I swung by to pick up some chamomile oil. I took one look at the outside of the store and decided against going in because I wasn't sure if my tetanus vaccination was up to date, and you could just tell that the inside was going to stink. My wife went in and when she got back, it was just as I thought. Staff was not very helpful and the store was filthy and stunk. I guess it may be an ok place for some folks, but we won't be back. read more

I love that they have most of the hard to find products I'm looking for and it's awesome that it seems to be a family owned business not a hundred percent sure on that but every time I've been in there its been a member of the same family I love the things that offer but the price is a little steep for me I'd almost rather drive all the way to Chattanooga to go to Earth Fare once a month and get everything there but when I'm out of something and need something fast is nice to have someplace to go. read more

I've had nothing but positive experiences at Sunshine Nutrition. I mainly just buy products like natural cosmetics that are difficult to find elsewhere, essential oils, and "non-perishable" food items, so I can't vouch for other food items. I was SHOCKED to read that one reviewer has found moths in their items more than once. I do not get the impression that the store is dirty, and I always feel the customer service is fabulous. Store workers are kind and welcoming without being intrusive. The only negative experience I had was with the fresh-pressed juices. While a great idea in theory, they needed some apple juice or other sweeter juice added for them to be more palatable. Instead, the two I tried tasted like watered-down celery or V8. They were also overfilled, causing the to leak/spill, and the ice bucket they were kept in was full of water (all the ice had melted). read more
