Donuts did not impress me at all. I got a half dozen variety and honestly didn't like one even the coconut. Flavor was weird. Donuts are stale and have an artificial flavor to them I think. I've been to Sunshine many times, and their bagels and donuts are consistently good. Angry at the world today, I went on a carb rampage at Sunshine, ordering a plain mini bagel with regular cream cheese (no pistachio cream cheese, though, which I was inexplicably craving!) and a vanilla cream donut. The bagels are chewy and with a little toasting have just enough crispness. They always give you a nice smear of cream cheese (the veggie and scallion cream cheeses are good too). The donuts are far superior to Dunkin. My donut was doughy and pillowy, dusted with powdered sugar and filled with a sugary vanilla cream that leaked out like a little powder puff tail. I intended to save C half, but he'll never know! $1.80 altogether. read more

A great local bagel shop and sandwich shop in a small town named Ardsley (my hometown). Bagels are fresh and flavorful and come in tons of different flavors. This is my favorite bagel spot outside of Brooklyn. If you want a great selection of bagels and a place to sit , read the paper while you enjoy your coffee and bagel. This is the place for you. This is a family run business. Lisa the owner is extremely sweet and always accommodating her parents help her run the two shops she now has (used to have one on central Ave in Scarsdale that didn't do well.) they can be a little pricey when you want to add on. I.e. Cheese , tomato, lettuce. These items are about .50 cents a piece. But you get 15 bagels in your dozen and 2 extra in a half dozen. They have a million flavors if your a bagel lover you will not be disappointed. Look at me I live in the city and go there every Saturday and get my dozen for the week. I have always had the dream of eating a New York bagel. I went to Sunshine Bagel and was not disappointed. I got the everything bagel with plain cream cheese. The bagel was perfect, flavorful, cripsy, fresh, just perfect. The cream cheese, even though it was just regular plain cream cheese was rich and creamy. Best bagel Ive ever had. A lovely mom and pop bagel shop with plenty of healthy choices (where you don't have to sacrifice deliciousness.) They actually cook real eggs (surprisingly a lot of places do not) and have fresh, not frozen bagels. The staff he is very friendly and many regulars frequent this joint for their exceptional service and food. I heard the commercial on 103.9 as I was getting ready this morning and decided to give these guys a try. The bagels were fantastic! Soft and delicious, the cream cheese was exceptional! I even bought a side of egg salad. Service was great --- the crew was very helpful and did it all with a smile. The only downfall was parking. Today was Ardsley day so I had to park up the street and walk. Then I crossed the street to get myself my usual hazelnut americano at Starbucks. Want horrible customer service? Want to be given an attitude while you overpay for your mediocre bagel and watered down coffee? Want to be told that you are a liar when the workers cannot communicate your order correctly? If so, then Sunshine is your place. The employee who took my order miscommunicated to her coworker, then asked me to pay extra for it. I waited half an hour for a bagel! When I explained to the owner that I waited for half an hour (it was 11:40, I ordered at 11:10 on the dot) and that I should not have to pay extra because the employees do not speak English, I was told that I was a liar, she laughed in my face and told me to give her her money. I always felt uncomfortable going into Sunshine. The place is dirty and small. It smells like a mixture of onions and dirty diapers. The employees are always rude. Not a single person ever greets you with a smile. However, the product was halfway decent, so I dealt with it for years. They knew me and still treated me this way. However, this was my final straw. One last thing, their menu is pretty limited. Stars, next door, has a better product worth waiting for. I cannot WAIT for the day that Sunshine is shut down like every other dirty shop in that mini strip mall. read more

This place get 1 star due to their RUDE (and I mean TERRIBLY) rude workers. First off, my boyfriend said what he wanted and she responded with a quick "whaaaaat?!". Also, I asked for one egg (not for a price change) but because I only like one egg on my bacon egg and cheese and this chick had the audacity to come back to the register and make a statement with people being "cheap" and that people do it "all the time". Well excuse me it wasn't even about the price and she went ahead and kept running her mouth. So I returned back with making sure she knew it wasn't about the money. Did she talk back, oh of course she did with, "just take the second egg off yourself" and roll her eyes. Funny right?! Oh, and it wasn't one chick it was two different ones that were rude. I will NEVER return to this place due to their service only came here because the Russo deli is closed for renovations. They deserve my money more than this place anyways. There are cheaper places to get breakfast- but this place will continue to get a chunk of my check every weekend. The omelets, bagels and blueberry muffins have lines out the door and a majority of their stuff is made fresh on site. You can actually see the people baking away in the back, it gives me a good feeling inside kind of like I'm watching the Keebler Elves. I just wish they kept the grill on a little longer. I don't always feel like waking up at the crack of dawn to get breakfast at a spot that sells primarily breakfast food on the weekend when I already have to wake up early during the week. Once I accidentally left my house in my purple fuzzy bed slippers but I didn't turn back to change because I was running out of time to catch the grill, decisions were made and off my fuzzy slippers and I went. Now I show up there more often than not looking crazy as if I just rolled out of bed...because I did. I found out that they finally started accepting cards so no more awkward pit stops at the Chase bank with the Dunkin' Donuts if I don't have any cash. read more

Sunshine bagels has the best donuts with a great selection. The bagels are just okay, but the donuts are excellent. The chocolate glazed donut is the best. They also have the best iced decaf hazelnut coffee. The close pretty early on the weekends so you have to get there early. read more

I have frequented this Sunshine Bagels location (the original) since at least 1996, and it has always been the same quality and service since then. The donuts are made the way they should be. You say "Old Fashioned"; I say the right way. Their Black Raspberry just oozes out when you take a bite and the taste is phenomenal. Next, the Toasted Coconut is actually that. Toasted Coconut flakes that are so tasty that the leftovers are not to be squandered away. No, you must eat what is left in your donut holder. The Marble Frosted is just as good, with frosting so fresh it tastes like you licked it out of the bowl, fresh. The bagels that I normally get are either Cinnamon Raisin, or Sesame. I like their Veggie Cream Cheese, as well as their regular, but recently, they have offered Cranberry Honey Cream Cheese, and it is delicious. I have also had Egg Sandwiches on either a bagel, or roll, and my only complaint is that Sunshine does not carry Cheddar Cheese. I have only tried the Cranberry Orange muffin, but I'm happy with it, and recommend it. Now on to the coffee. I have tried the French Vanilla, and the Irish Cream, both of which are great flavors, and is the best coffee around. There are those few that seem to be perplexed that the establishment is called Sunshine Bagels, yet makes donuts. Or complain that there is no bathroom. More strangely, those that complain of an odor that does not even exist. I've been going here for 3 decades. Never had a problem. This establishment is a Westchester staple, and landmark, and should be regarded as such. Those who do not agree, Starbucks is right across the street, you have my permission to turn around. I'll even wave at you from across the street while I sip on coffee half the price of yours, and better. read more

I have been coming here for the last 8 years and the quality has remained high. The bagels are always fresh and will keep longer then any other bagel I have tried elsewhere. Just freeze them and leave them. I judge every jelly donut by Sunshine and none have come close. I got to know the owner and found out the secret is he uses the best jelly. Oh, one more thing. The donuts will keep easily for 3-4 days unlike the other chain where they have to be thrown out after 12 hours. In closing, in order for me to continue to enjoy the Bagels and Donuts I ride my bike 25 miles from Riverdale and then reward myself!!! read more

This place has gone downhill. The donuts are AMAZING but beware. The service is terrible. The people behind the counter are always eating while working and act like they don't know how to make any of the prepared foods listed on the menu. Twice I have ordered a sandwich or salad and they just say no. Also, there are bees and/or flies on the donuts many times and none of the workers care, even when I point it out. I think I'll stay away for a while. read more
