Sunshine Auto is the place to go if you want honest, quality service. They don't waste your time and they don't try to upsell you on stuff you don't need. Highly recommend! read more

My husband took my car to this location for a 2nd opinion. They had a look at the car and explained what they saw and created an estimate for labor and parts. We chose to get the parts changed and they had showed me the parts they had replaced. As for the price, they actually lowered it from the estimated price as parts were cheaper. I truly appreciate that he adjusted the price. They were very nice and answered all my questions, and kept me informed. My car has been running smoothly ever since. I don't think I'll be going back to my original auto shop, and I'm looking forward with continuing future services with this business. read more

Sunshine Auto Service - Parts he replaced from my car. - Auto Repair Near Me - San Jose, California

I called them up as I urgently needed to fix a coolant leak and they had availability the very next day! I arrived in the morning and I was able to pick my car up the next day. The coolant leak was pretty dramatic, and they had to replace the thermostat as well as some lines and I think they had a very fair price for the amount of work that needed to be done, and the speed and quality in which they did it. The owner is honest and direct, told me exactly what was wrong, showed me where it was on the car, showed me exactly how much the oem parts were, and exactly how much the labor was. read more

Went here from a recommendation, walked in for a drive belt service replacement. Since Hyundai dealer wanted $418 for the job! Which i found ridiculous.. i came here and told them about the service i needed, and paid a more legit pricing! Sunshine Auto Service - Auto Repair Near Me - San Jose, California

My wife brought her 2010 BMW 328i here and was referred by a friend to service her car at a decent price since German cars are expensive. Two incidents: 1) Changed 12V battery and they did not registered the battery. Turns out the battery died after 2yrs. BMW you have to registered the battery to balance the volt with the car. Go figure. 2) She paid $2K to change the oil filter gasket which turns out is a known issue for the car. It's supposed to last 60K before oil leak but after 20K, have to go to another shop to fix. Two strikes and you are out. If I can give lower rating than 1 I would. This place is totally Caveat Emptor. If you don't want to have to keep coming back for repairs which should be done right the first time and waste your time avoid this place. So sad no Sunshine =(, Poor quality. read more

First off, this place is THE place. Everytime anyone I know has a car problem, I send them here. They are extremely fair, responsive, flexible, you name it. I know nothing about cars and bought a bad used one... they fixed everything right up for me and made sure I was good to go. When I need maintenance, or someone hits me, etc I call them right away lol The owner and his family are super sweet. Everyone is super great and I can call / text if anything happens. He is the best. Sunshine is the best place to go in terms of value, service, reliability, literally don't think there is anything they don't know! Super fair great service I will never go anywhere else. I drive an hour just to come here now! read more

I think I just found the shop to deal with my old school Subaru. On a recent drive to work my check engine light came on. I was locked outta cruise control and car began to run strangely. I ran to an Autozone on my lunch break and they read the codes which were a couple of misfires on my cylinders. Directly next door to the Autozone was Sunshine Auto Repair. Honestly, I didn't have time to shop around so I took a quick look at Yelp, crossed my fingers and walked in. I was greeted by Joseph who was a super kind gentleman. He told me the owner was out and that he would read the codes and if it was in need of plugs and coil packs he would give me a reasonable price (he gave me a ballpark price and I told him to call me if it was more). As we were chatting I had mentioned that the car's lights would also pulsate and all interior lights would do the same in my car almost looked like the lights in a haunted house. I've actually taken it to several shops to have it diagnosed to no avail. Joseph assured me he would look into it and sent me on my way. A few hours later the boss (who I think is his father) called and let me know the plugs and coils were done but my crappy Autozone recently replaced alternator was overcharging my system which would cause the flashing of my lights and would lead to electrical problems and damage along the way. I knew he was right because I've been trying to get this issue fixed forever. He tacked on the price of the alternator, an oil change and even gave me a small break on labor since he found more issues while fixing the codes and I added more services. Well, guess what? I pick up my car and Pops (the owner) is that old school type gives me a quick, "your car's good" and he shows me the old alternator and all the replaced parts. I was originally going to try to return the alternator to Autozone but decided to move on with my life and had him remove the "core charge" from my bill (car part distributors recycle old alternators so if they don't receive the faulty one you pay the 'core'). Sorry long review, just wanted to let the world know these are honest folks who know cars. I'm sold on this place and loved the expertise and fast service. Bravo to you guys. So far the car is running great and I know where to take it in the future. *fingers crossed it'll be a while... read more

I usually never write reviews but their service here is phenomenal! I came for an oil change and mechanical inspection for my new car. They were very transparent with work needed now along with potential work needed in the future to keep my car in top shape. Extremely reasonable with services offered. If you're looking for trustworthy mechanics in the area to take care of you, 10/10 recommended. read more

This one's way overdue since I've been taking my benzes and other vehicles to Quang since he started the shop at the previous location more than 12 years ago --and because I've always been satisfied and/or impressed with the overall quality and results of his hard work. His work is solid and I can't remember a time when he disappointed. While his great pricing and consistent results are definitely a big reason for my repeat business, the main reason I take my Mercedes to Quang (and also refer friends and family) is he's proven to me time and again that I get more value from his services versus what I actually paid. Simply put... he hooks it up in my opinion. He's been honest with me and available during the times I really needed his help. *I've had all different kinds of repairs and replacements done here.... big and small, including transmissions, suspension maintenance, and just about anything I can't figure out within a reasonable amount of time. (I've also referred a lot of people here but can't speak for them on their experiences.) Quang's got a good team and he is a true professional and expert at his craft. You should really consider what this shop can do for you and experience it for yourself... read more

Had bought my brakes -- rotors and pads --, called them and asked them if they can install the new ones. You would think that they could do this no problem. They did the replacement in a matter of 40 mins for all wheels -- and I was surprised with how quick they did that too. After a few days, front axle was making some noise when I was applying pressure to the brakes. First it started off as something was stuck -- it probably was the brake caliper pins -- and brought it back to them asked to take a look at it and claimed it was probably because the brake pads were low quality. They didn't even bother taking another look and I had to call and ask again to please take a look again and see. This issue wasn't there prior to getting the brakes changed. Yet again the second time I brought it back to them, they put it on the lift to do ANOTHER visual inspection. Again, they claimed it as poor quality brakes and that I should get a Full Ceramic one. I got the Duralast Elite Brake Pads for this, too. I tried looking around for other mechanics in the area but always very skeptical until I decided to give someone else a go at it with the same set of Brake pads to be installed - and he managed to replace it properly! You would think a shop with full equipment would be more capable than a person with the basic tools to carry out the task, I was never more wrong. To our conclusion, all they really did was scam us out of our parts, charged me $280 for the "labor". All I could notice was that the rear brakes & rotors were replaced (although probably incorrectly too since now I have rear wheel speed sensors error codes going off) but the front wasn't. Terrible terrible experience, dishonest, scammers, and extremely unhelpful. read more

I've been coming here for many years now, and I am very happy to have found this place. Every time I have a problem with my car, or want to take it in they always have time to see me. From every visit I've been very content with their work, and pricing. From my experience I can tell the owner is an honest mechanic who not only fixes the problems, but also teaches you & explains what the problem is, & how to prevent it from happening. Not many honest people or mechanics like him out there. I hope everyone considering changing mechanics chooses to come here. Great service from Quang. I recently moved from SF and haven't driven a car regularly in over 5 years. Now that I live in the South Bay, my dad is letting me drive his older Mercedes until I buy a car. While it runs fine, the A/C was broken and this South Bay summer weather doesn't PLAY! Driving around with a broken A/C is not fun. I dropped it off in the morning and Quang had it done and fixed by 3pm. Oh! and the A/C works so well that I actually was getting too cold in my car, lol. read more

"Bac Quang" has been fixing our cars for years so I figure it's about time to write a review. The BEST mechanic ever! Quang is honest and fair in prices. You will NOT get a better deal anywhere in the Bay Area. He is an experienced auto mechanic that will tell you exactly what's wrong with your car. He specializes in BMW and Mercedes but will/can work on any car. I take my Nissan Altima and all my other cars for service to Quang. I also refer all my friends and family to his shop and they are now using his services. He moved to another location (785 N. 13th St, san jose, ca 95112) since the old shop was small and parking was a hassle. This shop is much bigger and easy to find. This is a small one man shop that gives you good prices and fantastic service. One problem with large shops is spotty results; you never know who will work on the car and it can be good one time and bad the next. You never have that experience here, all the work is done by the owner. He is conscientious and has great service. He work for Mercedes Benz for years and now has his own shop. The shop is pretty spare but he has the equipment needed. The sd scanners are expensive but he is set for MB, BMW, Audi, VW, etc. He has the low overhead of a small shop and does all of the work (his wife keeps the books). This allows him to keep his hourly rates much lower than most shops. He doesn't mark up his parts as much as most shops either. That all boils down to great prices. read more

He sometimes told me over the phone how to fix my cars by myself so I could save some money and time not to come to his shop for minor problems. He let me to bring my own car parts and charged me only the labor. He also fixes classic Ferrari, Jaguar provided you leave the cars for a few weeks at his shop. Great place to get your car serviced. It's a small shop with only two lifts. I haven't brought my Corolla in for any major work but every time I've come in for an oil change or something basic, they made it priority and I was in and out very quick. I had my brakes replaced here. Joseph (owner's son) gave me some options (performance, economy, oem, etc) and an estimated time. We set up an appointment and he completed the job quickly and efficiently. While waiting, I had the chance to explore the neighborhood and try out some of its eats (worth it!) Judging from what I see, they service mainly European cars and they're always busy but I've always an enjoyable experience because they are professional, courteous, and get things done quickly. read more
