I truly appreciate that he adjusted the price. They were very nice and answered all my questions, and kept me informed. My car has been running smoothly ever since. My wife brought her 2010 BMW 328i here and was referred by a friend to service her car at a decent price since German cars are expensive. Two incidents: 1) Changed 12V battery and they did not registered the battery. Turns out the battery died after 2yrs. BMW you have to registered the battery to balance the volt with the car. Go figure. 2) She paid $2K to change the oil filter gasket which turns out is a known issue for the car. It's supposed to last 60K before oil leak but after 20K, have to go to another shop to fix. Two strikes and you are out. If I can give lower rating than 1 I would. This place is totally Caveat Emptor. If you don't want to have to keep coming back for repairs which should be done right the first time and waste your time avoid this place. So sad no Sunshine =(, Poor quality. read more

I think I just found the shop to deal with my old school Subaru. On a recent drive to work my check engine light came on. I was locked outta cruise control and car began to run strangely. I ran to an Autozone on my lunch break and they read the codes which were a couple of misfires on my cylinders. Directly next door to the Autozone was Sunshine Auto Repair. Honestly, I didn't have time to shop around so I took a quick look at Yelp, crossed my fingers and walked in. I was greeted by Joseph who was a super kind gentleman. He told me the owner was out and that he would read the codes and if it was in need of plugs and coil packs he would give me a reasonable price (he gave me a ballpark price and I told him to call me if it was more). As we were chatting I had mentioned that the car's lights would also pulsate and all interior lights would do the same in my car almost looked like the lights in a haunted house. I've actually taken it to several shops to have it diagnosed to no avail. Joseph assured me he would look into it and sent me on my way. A few hours later the boss (who I think is his father) called and let me know the plugs and coils were done but my crappy Autozone recently replaced alternator was overcharging my system which would cause the flashing of my lights and would lead to electrical problems and damage along the way. I knew he was right because I've been trying to get this issue fixed forever. He tacked on the price of the alternator, an oil change and even gave me a small break on labor since he found more issues while fixing the codes and I added more services. Well, guess what? I pick up my car and Pops (the owner) is that old school type gives me a quick, "your car's good" and he shows me the old alternator and all the replaced parts. I was originally going to try to return the alternator to Autozone but decided to move on with my life and had him remove the "core charge" from my bill (car part distributors recycle old alternators so if they don't receive the faulty one you pay the 'core'). Sorry long review, just wanted to let the world know these are honest folks who know cars. I'm sold on this place and loved the expertise and fast service. Bravo to you guys. This one's way overdue since I've been taking my benzes and other vehicles to Quang since he started the shop at the previous location more than 12 years ago --and because I've always been satisfied and/or impressed with the overall quality and results of his hard work. His work is solid and I can't remember a time when he disappointed. Had bought my brakes -- rotors and pads --, called them and asked them if they can install the new ones. You would think that they could do this no problem. They did the replacement in a matter of 40 mins for all wheels -- and I was surprised with how quick they did that too. After a few days, front axle was making some noise when I was applying pressure to the brakes. First it started off as something was stuck -- it probably was the brake caliper pins -- and brought it back to them asked to take a look at it and claimed it was probably because the brake pads were low quality. They didn't even bother taking another look and I had to call and ask again to please take a look again and see. This issue wasn't there prior to getting the brakes changed. Yet again the second time I brought it back to them, they put it on the lift to do ANOTHER visual inspection. Again, they claimed it as poor quality brakes and that I should get a Full Ceramic one. I got the Duralast Elite Brake Pads for this, too. I tried looking around for other mechanics in the area but always very skeptical until I decided to give someone else a go at it with the same set of Brake pads to be installed - and he managed to replace it properly! You would think a shop with full equipment would be more capable than a person with the basic tools to carry out the task, I was never more wrong. To our conclusion, all they really did was scam us out of our parts, charged me $280 for the "labor". All I could notice was that the rear brakes & rotors were replaced (although probably incorrectly too since now I have rear wheel speed sensors error codes going off) but the front wasn't. Terrible terrible experience, dishonest, scammers, and extremely unhelpful. read more

This is a small one man shop that gives you good prices and fantastic service. One problem with large shops is spotty results; you never know who will work on the car and it can be good one time and bad the next. You never have that experience here, all the work is done by the owner. He is conscientious and has great service. He work for Mercedes Benz for years and now has his own shop. The shop is pretty spare but he has the equipment needed. The sd scanners are expensive but he is set for MB, BMW, Audi, VW, etc. He has the low overhead of a small shop and does all of the work (his wife keeps the books). This allows him to keep his hourly rates much lower than most shops. He doesn't mark up his parts as much as most shops either. That all boils down to great prices. read more

I have been taking my 1989 Honda Accord (295k miles), 1991 Toyota Camry (226k miles), and my classic 1991 Mercedes 300SEL (170K miles) to Mr. Quang for the service in the past 7 years. He is very HONEST and an EXCELLENT mechanic. He was a certified master mechanic for Smythe Mercedes dealership for over 15 years and now he owns his own auto shop in San Jose. He would tell me what needs to be fixed first and what can be fixed later if I plan to keep my 3 cars for another few years. He sometimes told me over the phone how to fix my cars by myself so I could save some money and time not to come to his shop for minor problems. I found Sunshine Auto unexpectedly, after having no luck at the Autozone nearby. I initially went to Autozone to test my battery, which was acting up. Turned out that my battery was completely corroded and so was my terminal, which snapped in half due to the excessive corrosion. Autozone did not carry the battery I needed nor a replacement terminal, so I walked to Sunshine Auto right before they closed, looking for help and hoping that I wouldn't be left stranded in the Autozone parking lot. Quang dropped everything he was working on to walk over to my car in the Autozone parking lot and helped me right away, just minutes before he was about to close shop. That just goes to show his great character and willingness to help. He quickly replaced my terminal and also gave me a temporary battery to get me home.
