What a wonderful experience at this place. We decided to visit this place to get a night out, some apps, drinks and music. Sunset Walk has several restaurants, bars, shops and an arcade. A little bit of something for everyone. We walked around to get a feel for the place but the best part was sitting and having a few drinks and listening and dancing to live music. We had a blast! There is a stage area where a live band plays both English and Spanish music, the band was excellent. When the band took a break they had a DJ who played great music to get everyone in a dancing mood. If you are tired of the theme parks and just want to spend some down time then this is a place to visit.

Post pandemic and this is still a great place to come to. Tons of good stores and places to eat plus they have lots of interesting events. Personally I'm a big fan of the car shows and wish I could get to more of them. I can always find more new and interesting vehicles to view. We also come down here on occasion for a bite to eat. We have dined in quite a few of the restaurants down here and have never had a truly bad meal experience. We stopped by this past Saturday for the car show and they also had a small farmers market of sorts. These are regular weekly occurrences for them. The car show while smaller than pre-pandemic still had some excellent vehicles and I had the opportunity to talk to the owners of a couple of them. People put a lot of love into their vehicles and it's great to be able to see them. While in the area we also shopped the farmers market and picked up a few items and stopped for a bite to eat. I had been looking forward to going to Capone's to get some pizza as they list a gluten-free crust and vegan cheese is options and a member of our party needs that to be able to enjoy a good pizza. We were disappointed because it was closed off and fenced all around the building. I'm not sure what was going on but I hope they will be back because the food is always good there and the service is friendly. We ended up wandering over to El jefe to see if there was anything that they could have off the menu. They found a few items that sounded good that they could have so we all decided to stop in. I have had previous excellent experiences here and truly enjoy their food. I ended up trying something new off the menu this time. I ordered the fajita burrito and was very pleased with the taste and the size of it. You get all the flavors of fajitas wrapped up in a single tortilla. It's a bit messy and went well with the hatch green chili salsa. I do prefer something hotter but the flavors blended very well together. One of my companions had some jalapenos that they weren't using so I also cut them up with it and it gave just a little extra tang to it. Along with everything else going on they also had a live band playing music and I have to say that they did real justice to the music they were playing. I've seen other bands that didn't understand their weaknesses on some songs but this one has a very clear idea of what works for them and we thoroughly enjoyed listening while walking the car show.

The food was well priced and large portion. Has live music and a fun atmosphere. The drink pricing is not bad.

A few small things to consider- do not expect world class paddle boards, there is one SUP paddle that functions and two old paddle boards- kayaks seemed ok. The walk to the beach does require crossing a busy road, but once there it IS a nice beach, but you must bring all your own gear, including beach towels. There are not any beach rental chairs, etc. nearby. The wifi did not seem to work for us, the fan in the spare bedroom had a short apparently so my first night trying to sleep, it got up to 78 degrees in the room as we could not adjust the temp on the thermostat, the couch is not comfortable, the streaming buffered, so it took a couple hours to get that to work, there is a neighboring house with a large dog barking and although they warn you, I find it strange for the nightly price ($336/night!) to offer a small soap and shampoo. There is a washer, no dryer. The blankets were thin, beds were decent and the place was clean. There are no screens on any of the windows so you can't really get fresh air and there was a wasp nest above our bathroom window so definitely didn't want to leave a window ajar while showering. There is a "no refund" policy, so you are stuck there as we had wanted to check out after our first of two nights. There are not any walkable restaurants nearby. We were offered a couple of free nights to make up for all the mishaps we had. All in all, there were nice chairs and solitude by their water's edge. I could see a family enjoying the grounds and playing the outdoor games they had, but for us it was a letdown for the price. I think some people would be perfectly happy here but we had a lot of stress upon check-in and so many things not working properly.

We also dined at Roaring Fork last night and I had a great Mediterranean salad with chicken. After eating at roaring Fork, we went out to gyser point for some late refreshments and snacks, which I will be doing a separate review for those. The cast members to mention are Josh the chef, Anna the server from geyser point, and Josh the bartender from Geyser Point. The hotel grounds around the property are serene and have a calming quality. 10/10 Definitely recommend this stay cation

Safety NOT First at Disney?…read more It's midnight on day 1 of our 13 person biennial vacation with extended family and the fire alarm for our hotel just went off. My family, as well as the large group of guests that we evacuated with, ended up with traumatic experiences for our kids, a crowded/dangerous escape route, and an impression that safety came second here at Disney World. Upon hearing the fire alarm, my wife and I grabbed our still sleeping kids and headed to the closest stairway for our 4th floor room. The stairway was backed up with the large number of other people attempting to use it and it was here, where in addition to the loud repetitive klaxon alarm, we first heard an automated message repeatedly announcing "An emergency has been identified in the building." This seemed to give what was happening a bit more urgency and pushing among the group. When we eventually managed to evacuate from the hotel, we were met with a large group of guests standing immediately outside the building in the 41 degree temperatures with their own crying kids and no hotel employees. The group started moving away from the building, and a few minutes later, started getting sprayed by landscaping sprinklers that were set on timers. ~10 minutes after the fire alarm started, the only employees we did see outside were a person hosing down the pool area and an employee leaving the closed for the night Geyser Point Bar and Grill carrying what looked like a bag of food for themselves. The "friends," standing outside of the loud flashing building in the cold with their crying kids, were now none of their concern and not as important as their food or pool washing duty. About 15 minutes after the alarm started, people started hunkering down at the Raging Forks Bar and Grill when the first employee showed up and very quietly informed us that the fire department was enroute and to hang out. A separate employee came to turn on the heat lamps but before those worked, we were allowed back into the hotel. My disappointment isn't that there was a midnight fire alarm, it's that as people's kids were having a scary experience at "the happiest place on earth," Disney rather than showcasing their contingency training and focus on their "friends," was quiet as a mouse.

From the moment we arrived to when we left, everything was really well done. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which set the tone right away. They have a buffet for breakfast and lunch with a good variety of options, so I feel like most people could find something they like. There are also smaller stands with snacks, pizza, and ICEE stations. Now let's talk about the drinks. There is just something about a frozen daiquiri when you're by the water. Highly recommend getting the drink package and trying a few... or all of them if you can handle it. I loved how many different areas there were to explore. Seeing dolphins swimming so close to the beach was actually kind of magical. They also have a monkey island which I was really excited about. It was closed when we got there, but I could still see them from a distance and I loved that. The aviary was really cool too. Tons of birds, but also tons of people. They recommend going first thing when the birds are most active, which we did, but so did everyone else. We got there about 45 minutes after opening and the birds already seemed a little over it. Honestly, I don't blame them. The Grand Reef was such a cool experience. I didn't really know what to expect, and even though it's man made, it still feels really immersive. Some of those rays are huge and have zero fear. They will swim right into you. My guy had never experienced anything like that and he loved it. I also liked that there were shallow areas and deeper sections if you wanted more of a snorkeling feel. The only downside for us was the Wind Away River. There are spots that get deep really fast, and that day they were apparently out of floaties because people were hoarding them and claiming areas. Staff even acknowledged it, which was frustrating because nothing was being done about it. It made parts of the river harder to enjoy than they should have been. Other than that, everything else was great and it made for such a fun day. Also the bar swings were a highlight. Loved those.

Nice and firm for a get night rest or a nap after being at the pool side for a few hours. Walk in closet big bathroom ,living room was cool as well. The rooms give you that old 1960 vibes with a modern touch. The resort also featured some old vintage 1960 cars similar to the TWA hotel at jfk airport. The resort had some nice places to go to. Me and my wife enjoyed the bowling alley. We had a lot of fun. Don't forget about the shops with all your favorite carton characters t shirts hats slippers you name it Star Wars, the minions the Simpsons fun for kids all ages. We also enjoyed the cabana cafeteria . I had a spicy chicken sandwich with fries my wife had chicken teriyaki lomein full of nice pieces of chicken ,Which she enjoyed .I also had some chicken tenders and fries from the cafeteria on our stay. We also ordered food from door dash while we were in the main lobby. We ordered shake shack which was cheaper ordering from door dash then buying food on the resort, smash burgers well done with cheese fries, for a little vacation cheat because I'm on a diet. By the way the order came really fast. Don The pool was great especially at night the view was amazing. With the lights shining on the pool and the really nice fire pit they had so you can even roast some marshmallows by it. Also the pool features a water slide for kids and adults. The blow up rafts were $9to17. You also could bring your own as well. You also had an ice machine with cold water free. Plus you had the soft drinks and soda all you can drink for $30 . That was the drink packed. Cabana bay resort also had a restaurant right next the pool outside. Where they had some really good chicken quesadillas with fries. My wife enjoyed that. . I went with the chicken wrap with lettuce and some veggies, It was great to eat pool side with the beach chairs equipped with the big umbrella for shade . Then you also had the lazy river at the resort. That featured a bigger water slide and pool . Bigger than the pool outside the main lobby. The staff was courteous and friendly the stay was fun. Just remember it's kinda pricey . But don't forget about all the theme parks you get to visit for $80 each way .

Check in, took 30+ mins long and we checked in online, but the online check desk was closed, which seemed odd. There were tons of people that were from out of town that looked tired, especially after going through airport securities/travel from their states and looked like they just wanted to get their room and go to sleep, but it seemed that there was no urgency from staff. They didn't look short staffed, but I saw other staff standing around with no lines at their kiosk with multiple areas for them to step in at check in- Which tells me that there needs to be some cross training encouraged to help their processing. Fun Fact: I rode two rides at Universal with my fast pass faster than checking in to our room. Room was clean, view was nice. We stayed on the top floor with the view of one of the pools, which was nice but I had not so much of a good first night due to the AC in the room not working properly and I'm a hot sleeper so I did not sleep well. I did address the issue in the morning and let the staff know about my issue and that I was gonna be gone for the day and they did fix my issue right away. The food was surprisingly mediocre, and they have four different restaurants you can eat from and we went to three of them, which seems to be the same style of food just spread out. The first night I had a Smashburger it looked very delicious, but then I found myself putting on basic ingredients on my burger, salt and pepper. If I did not, it would have not had any seasoning. The second night I went to the Brazilian steak eatery and as far as a quick steak to get, it was very delicious and they serve it with mashed potatoes and gravy, which was really delicious. I would recommend eating your meals at least for dinner there if you're going to eat in the in the resort. If you're looking cocktails, they have them and they're very delicious. Prices are high, but you get a quality drink. I think I just had a bad experience. I don't feel that everybody encounters what I encountered when they visit, but I would have given a 3 star rating if it wasn't for how convenient it is to get to the park, there's a shuttle that picks you up every 10 minutes and drops you off and when you're done at the park, it picks you up and takes you right back to the hotel. Beats paying $50 a day for parking at the parks, but you still have to pay for parking with your room which is significantly less. All-In-all it was good, but not great for my experience, I will probably attend a different resort next time, but as a local in Florida, we have that choice.
