We rented 092 Ava Moon from the above rental agent. I have no issues with the agency, however the property mentioned had one major issue, the sliding glass door to the front patio was old and did not lock, their answer to the issue was to place a of wood in the bottom slide rail, it was a hassle. The bathrooms looked original to the age of the house, one had a bath & the other a very small shower, the sink wall plug in that bathroom did not work, any appliance had to be plugged in at the bedroom.....on a brighter note, the kitchen was well equipped and had everything you might need for your cooking experience read more

We rented a vacation home in Sunset Beach two weeks ago. Our home was nice, so no complaints there. However, upon our arrival, an older woman (approx. 60) with brown hair, never greeted us and handed us our keys without a word. (She worked for Sunset Vacations). When I asked a question about whether the home was ready for us (as they are supposed to send a text to you), she glared at me with a disgusted look and said "yes", with a tone that seemed to indicate I should know that. (Our house wasn't going to be ready until 3:30, and this was 2:00.) My son encountered the same woman and was just as surprised as I was. NOTE: Sunset Vacations: Get rid of her. You don't have much to offer besides your customer service. She is truly miserable and I wish that I had gotten her name prior to leaving. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many options on this island. Try, VRBO, or Homeaway first. read more

Buyer beware, I reserved a home at Sunset Beach, my husband became ill & I called to cancel less than 24 hours later. I had purchased the travel insurance. They would not refund my money & told me to file a claim with Arch Insurance. I have ask for a copy of policy 6 times & still have not received. They did send a flyer that said illness was covered. Was told at time of purchase it covered all illness except did not cover "Fear of contracting COVID-19." My claim was denied, I returned "Attending Physicians Statement" they denied because my husband was not hospitalized. Was never told he had to be. Still trying to get my money back. They are fraudulent & very unprofessional. Make sure you check out before renting with them. read more

Where do I start? This was by far the worst experience with a beach rental I've ever had. When we arrived, the house was disgusting. There was an old bandaid in the living room, a sticky spot on the kitchen counter, someone's clothing in one of the dresser drawers, the ceiling fans were covered in dust, the carpets are stained with God only knows what, old cigarette butts and candy on the screened in porch, sand everywhere in the house and it smelled like mildew. When I called To complain I was told they would send someone to clean it. I asked shouldn't it have been cleaned BEFORE we arrived? I got no response to that. As far as the home itself, it was built in the 70s and all the furniture and appliances are original. The pictures look nothing like the actual home. The furniture in the photos are not in this house! The bunk beds are saggy and I would not let my children sleep in there. All the mattresses have dents in them and are hard as bricks. The chair in the living room has springs that poke you in the butt when you sit on it. The couch is so saggy you can't get out of it. The shower is smaller than a coffin and continues to drip. There are no batteries in the TV remotes. Lamps are missing bulbs. The oven and microwave do not work. There are broken vents for the air conditioning in the bedrooms. Extremely moldy shower outside. Freezer does not stay shut. Again I went into the office to complain and they informed me the house was being remodeled...next week. HA! I don't believe that for a minute. Sunset Vacations does not care one bit our stay here was horrible. When I told them I would go with another company if I ever decided to come here again they said, "Oh that's OK, that's our sister company." If you decide to go with this company for rentals even after reading this review, I suggest you do NOT rent house 93, Minutes to Memories on 29th street. We have been coming here for almost 20 years and this is by far the absolute worst experience we have ever had. read more

We had a horrible vacation that was cut short on account of the renter not confirming the age of the renter. After two nights into our week-long stay the police showed up and spontaneously evicted us. The property had been recommended to us specifically by Sunset Vacations and the renter uploaded his ID, but was never informed about an age minimum. The police said this happened all the time. We have not been in contact about a refund. Sunset Vacations is running a scam. read more

our friend owns a beautiful four bedroom vacation home on 28 th street in sunset beach Nc .He rents to two different families and some times comes to stay there for vacations. we are staying here for a month or two and it's so beautiful .we are a right on the beach were we catch beautiful sunsets every day ,the home was immaculate when we came in great condition .beautiful and spacious with three floors of porches. two separate wings with their own bathrooms with showers sparkly clean .my favorite is the master bathroom with the rain forest head shower very relaxing and awesome .full kitchen lots of room big living room with a huge tv and stereo system and dining area .we are losing it here and I would reccomend it to anyone especially families with kids great for a summer vacation . read more

Be very careful with using Sunset Vacations Sunset Beach N.C. rental company as they just completely ripped our family off for nearly $1,000. They advertise places on the beach with fake pictures and then when you get there from out of state the places are dumps ! They will not work with you to resolve and the owner keeps your deposit ! We are now in the process of filing legal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission, IRS, State of North Carolina Attorneys Office and Counties to shut them down as the owner is stealing millions from innocent u.s. citizens every day... read more

We arrived Saturday night June 08 and checked in to the house and it hadn't even been cleaned. I called the office on Sunday and didn't expect and email or a phone call until Monday and never recd a call. I called again yesterday and still no return phone call nor an email. I will never rent from them again. Everything was filthy. We have stayed every summer for the last 10 years at Sunset Beach, NC and will be back for as long as we are able and willing. We have also used three different rental companies during this time. (Sloane, Sunset Properties & Sunset Vacations) Until this summer we have always been very pleased with with both Sunset Properties and Sunset Vacations. (Sloane is not worth even mentioning) Without going into an incredibly long and boring story, our most recent encounter with a staff member at Sunset Properties warrants this post. Barbara Hewett (Customer Service / Broker in Charge) should be ashamed of how she talked to and treated members of our family when presented with a simple dilemma on our check-in day. We have absolutely no issue with following every rule, procedure and any and all requirements that are asked of us as renters. I simply ask that we, as paying customers, be treated with dignity and respect. Not talked down to as if we are children who need scolding. Due to this incredible lack of professionalism we will call ahead next season to make sure that this particular individual is not employed at whichever vacation rental company we chose and I would strongly recommend that you do the same. read more
