This pickup went well - the driver was waiting in the parking area, and got me to my hotel in short order. She was very pleasant and professional. I was impressed with the service, so scheduled a ride from my hotel back to the station the day before I was to leave. I waited outside the hotel the next morning for the ride - it did not arrive at the scheduled time. I waited 6 - 8 more minutes, then decided to walk in order to get to my train on time. I called the dispatch number when the ride did not arrive at the scheduled time and asked for a status update. No call or text was ever returned. In both instances, Sunrise was supposed to text me when the driver arrived to let me know where they parked, what they were driving, etc., and they did not do so. All I can say is, have a backup plan in place if you decide to use this service.

Coming from…read moreChicago I'm not thrilled with the Holland bus system, but realistically they do the best they can for a small town with limited public interest in using public transportation. Over the last 5 years or so MAX has certainly improved by adding more fixed bus routes and I thank them for that. My only gripe would be that a couple of times the drivers have seemed very insistent that nobody could be standing while the bus is moving. I understand they don't want anybody to get hurt during sudden stops, but come on in major cities all over the U.S. people do stand on moving busses every day and survive just fine. I'm not opposed to sitting on a bus, but if I (I'm not the smallest person around) have a choice or standing and having a bit of breathing room or sitting and being crammed in next to another person I'll choose standing everyday. TIP: If you have a red, white and blue medicare card showing you receive Medicare benefits you can ride the fixed route busses for free so that's a nice money saver. Just show the bus driver your red, white and blue medicare card and ride to your destination for free. I know this is the case on the fixed route busses, but I do not know if it's the same on the reserved MAX busses or not.

That was at least double what I'd have paid here in Chicago, so if this guy assumed I wouldn't bat an eyelash at the heavy price tag, well, he was wrong. -There is no meter, at least not in the cab I was in. So, I'd be willing to bet that these drivers just make up the rates as they see fit. On the way to the destination, I had asked how difficult it would be to find cab late-night. The driver gave me his personal number and said he'd give me VIP treatment, to call him when I was ready. My bad, but by the end of the night, after a long day of driving and a few drinks in me, I didn't feel like screwing around with hunting down another cab (and who knew who much it would cost, anyway?), I called him. He came and picked us up (my boyfriend was there this time around) and took us back to the hotel. This time, to no surprise, the total was $19. He explained that it was an additional dollar due to the extra person and made it very clear that he "wasn't trying to rip us off". Conclusion: Don't.
