    Sunset Park

This is one of my favorite parks in Las Vegas. Recently, it has hosted the Renaissance festival in the park! On a Friday in October, I ended up stopping by Sunset Park. It's one of the major park spaces in the area. It has a wide variety of amenities and recreational options! This park is large! It covers over 300 acres with about 200 acres developed for facilities and landscaping! Sunset park has the following facilities Softball Fields Little League Fields Basketball Courts Tennis Courts Sand Volleyball courts If you're looking for other activities, Sunset park does have multiple playgrounds, splash pad, shaded picnic areas, and open turf for recreational use. There are some 5k races that are held in Sunset Park. Since it's so large, the trails are several miles long! You can walk or jog on those paths, giving a variety of options! There are dog areas and a pond too! Throughout the year, several events are hosted in Sunset Park. I was just recently here for the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival! The festival had so much food, performances, crafts, and festivities! It was a lot of fun! The park is open daily from 6:00 A.M until 11:00 P.M. There are Open and reservation required picnic areas if you're looking to host an event or a party! I always enjoy going to the Sunset Park. One time, I did participate in the Super Hero Run 5K at Sunset Park years ago. It has amazing trails to run on!

I came here with my boyfriend and my friend to take our baby announcement photos. My friend took them on her camera and we were able to edit out everything in the background that shouldn't be there easily. The picture came out beautiful and there were lots of trees and ponds to make them look nice. There are a lot of transient looking people so beware

    Pigeons!

This is one of my favorite parks in Las Vegas, I personally love to take a walk around the lake and on the miles of walking paths, but there's a lot more than that too. This park is huge, and has some beautiful views, and lots of lots of parking, you'll never have an issue finding a spot. The lake walk has picnic areas with bathrooms and is very scenic, I love the fountains spraying off the island in the middle and seeing the many swans, geese, ducks and pigeons. It's a nice relaxing walk, though can get a little busy sometimes. You can fish in this lake too. Definitely a fun place for a family outing if you have kids. I also enjoy watching the planes landing at the airport that is literally just the other side of Sunset, so they're very low as they come over. When I want to do some more energetic exercise I speed walk the many walking trails, they go for miles and there are many routes you can take. Great places to give your dogs good exercise too. Additionally the park has multiple softball, basketball and little league fields, tennis and volleyball courts and a dog park. Since it's a big park, if you're planning a visit, due to its size it might take a bit to find the individual amenities, but if you do a web search for the park it will take you to the website which has a map that shows where everything is.

Cute park to check out we probably only checked out 1percent of it. We saw a bunch of not sure what they are but I call them kangaroo rats. They were so cute. Nice walking trails and plenty of parking .

This is a great park with a good amount of wildlife around the lake, playground looks nice, baseball fields, basketball courts, pickleball courts Only reason I gave it four stars was because the bathroom was absolutely disgusting, I almost puked when I walked in

Wild birds everywhere! They enjoy the manmade pond.

It's very nice. Larger than average. Hosts many large events including an annual Ren Faire. A few paved parking lots, and at least one gravel parking lot area. Walking trails, outdoor amphitheater stage areas, sport courts, and a few playground equipment areas for kids. It could stand to have more bathroom facilities IMO. Many memorial plaques at the base of the trees ...gives it a cemetery vibe that I don't care for. There were a considerable number of homeless people to be seen throughout the park, but they kept to themselves. I did not feel as if I should be concerned about them. At one point I noticed park personnel cleaning, and a police vehicle cruising through the parking lot area. I was there with a friend around noon and there were many people visiting, along with park personnel, and a police cruiser so I felt safe.

I went to the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Fair at Sunset Park and it was great! The food stands were good and the prices were affordable. Parking was accessible as well

I absolutely adore the scenery at this large and diverse park. From the walking paths to the greenery to the lake with the ducks, this place is everything I want in a park and more (for scenic offerings). There are large playgrounds (many), splash area, volleyball, pickleball courts, frisbee golf, and more here. The central location in town is also ideal. However, one downside for me over the past few years is the amount of homeless people and druggies at this park, which makes the appeal of this park not so nice. If you can get past that, this park is the perfect place for a workout, stroll, picnic, or play date.

Some fishing to try out or new poles

Big park and lots of parking. My kids wanted to go and fish so came here and tried fishing. We didn't catch anything but the family next to us kept catching. There's a softball field, a playground and so much more as this park is big. Ducks and goose as well.

I only came to Sunset Park for the Trump rally. There was a lot of security and I felt safe. There is very little parking though in these events. I did see a lot of tow trucks towing vehicles. Besides the truck rally, I saw a lot of people just enjoying themselves and their families. There was barbecues going and there was also volleyball games going. This is an amazing Parke to bring the family.

    There are many geese.

Ask the Community - Sunset Park

Are the dog parks separated for big and small dogs?

yes, They have two separate areas. Although they do close one off a lot to re-grow the grass or other maintenance. If one is closed, then they will have the dogs be together.

Do they have monkey bars there?

Yes!! I mostly see adults using them for workouts. There is a separate children's play area.

For the grills at the park what do you need ? Charcoal? Or what?

Review #60 of 2024 12 o'clock visit on Saturday December…read more7th. We visited this park for a birthday celebration we were invited to. It's a lovely spot situated in a pleasant neighborhood. The park is well-kept, with clean facilities and well-maintained play equipment, and there were no signs of any hazards or transients. My children approved, and asked when we could go back again.

I wasn't supposed to be here. I was passing by and somehow things turned bad, and had to stay here…read morefor several hours. It was weird, because I now have a history of vertigo and I experienced this acute case while making a forced stop here in Green Valley Park. It was in the middle of the day around 10:30am when I approached the park after crossing the street. I managed to find a park bench where I basically try to ride it out. It was one of those things were community Parks are a great blessing, as well as a necessary need for those who are like me who need that place of refuge. From what I saw, the park itself was very beautiful, and had the necessary amenities and thankfully, there was restroom facilities that was open for public use. with that said, I basically use an empty park bench, while random individuals were playing basketball on the basketball court near the bench I was trying to recuperate at. Thankfully everything was decent but not really. It was nice to have this downtime while vacationing in Las Vegas / Henderson, Nevada, but it probably would have been better than elsewhere rather than lying down at a park bench here at green valley community park. It is what it is, and that was my experience here. Even though I observed the park and experienced the park in its basic form, my plans here were needed to be adjusted. Unfortunately, for me, these plans were derailed because of my ongoing battle with Vertigo. Green Valley community park itself was maintained beautifully by the local city parks department, I'm guessing. For the most part, though, I don't regret coming here, but it is a great comfort knowing that it is here for everybody and anybody that is local area or just passing by. After regaining some form of sanity during after my vertigo relapse, I attempted to call an Uber to get me to the hotel so I can check in and hopefully sleep it off and return back to normal. And that basically what happened I returned back to normal the next day after a very good nights rest. The overall experience here at Green Valley community Park was good. I am just thankful that I happen to be upon this park with my attack of vertigo happened and lucky that there was no way there so I can have my privacy. Even though help was probably good also, but privacy is good also along with time to have it pass . I enjoyed the park bench pretty much because I could stretch out the entire length of my body onto the bench without having to shorten my legs to fit on it. There are some water fountains next to the restroom facility, but I did not use that at the time I just wanted the spinning to stop and can progress With my rest of the day. But that didn't happen at least during my time here at the park. Park itself is kind of small sense, but it is really nice to have a part that serves this part of the Henderson community. Not to say, I enjoyed myself here, but, I wanted my vertigo to stop, so that was my number one priority at the time. I never knew having that having good site was. Sucks to have it taken away all your life you're expected to have good everything until it's gone. yeah, it is what it is especially when you know life is not always too many people. I enjoy the fact that the park itself was private, and that it is in a modest residential area. Because it was during the day while I was here, on a Thursday, it was peaceful, and I could just have my privacy to deal with my number one concern of the day. With all that said, best bed is to come here when there is plenty of people so you can enjoy the social aspect of having a committee park here. Many things to do in this park, including walking the perimeter or playing basketball at the central basketball court Along the main road. It sucks for me to experience the park this way, but I'm come to be grateful for Parks in general not just here in Las Vegas/Henderson, but generally speaking. Green Valley Park is located on 370 N Pecos Road in Henderson, NV. Like our mini parks, they are admission free. No money necessary to come here. Unless, of course, you are wanting to find a day on approve equipment or something. I arrived here by bus. And left in an Uber. The bus route I use was route 111 which was pretty cheap considering I use The $5 for 24 hours transit pass for visitors. For parking purposes, best bet would be available street parking since I'm not sure if there is actual private parking for a community park. For what it's worth, my experience here is a reminder that for anything these days. Whether you're local here or there Here or just passing through, come on by. This might be the gem you're looking for. I know I wasn't looking, but it was a gem for me during my struggle with vertigo. Hopefully I can come here next time without having vertigo. 5 stars for the overall experience Support local! A+
