Wow, what breath of fresh air this restaurant is to this city! My husband and I came here when visiting the area and were very lucky to come across this spot. I typically don't give long yelp reviews but this spot deserves one. Please see below for my honest thoughts of Sunset Noodle. - The food was absolutely amazing! I am vegetarian and have a hard time finding food that fits my dietary restrictions in small towns. I told Chan (the owner) my restrictions and she was able to suggest plenty of options. My husband and I ordered the following: - Vegetarian Pho: I thought this was great, mushrooms were cooked to my liking, the noodles were cooked to perfection, the mushroom broth was full of flavor, and the tofu was the perfect consistency to soak up all the broth. 10/10 - Sunset Sandwich: My husband is a critic when it comes to sandwiches but he said the sandwich ciabatta was toasted perfectly, the vegetables were very fresh and they were generous with the meat portion. Pro tip: he added some of the sauces from the caddy and said it was delish! He loved the shrimp chips too :) - Tofu/Pork Fresh Rolls (Not pictured): My husband and I both liked these a lot. This menu item included pineapple which I thought was a fresh twist. The peanut dipping sauce they include had a crispy spring onions topping which was a nice addition. - Vietnamese Coffee: These were a perfect accompaniment to the meal. The server asked us what our preferred sweetness level was so that was great as my partner and I had different sweetness preferences. Overall, this place was a wonderful experience. Sure when looking at the menu, it may seem a bit pricey. However, when talking to the owner, she mentioned that she drives to Toronto often to get fresh/thoughtful ingredients (makes sense as these ingredients can't be found locally). From the ambiance to the service to the freshness of the food, Sunset Noodle is a fantastic option for lunch/dinner and you will not be disappointed :)

We stayed one night in Sault St. Marie before heading up to camp on Lake Superior. Happened upon this restaurant after reading positive reviews on yelp and decided to try it for dinner. We were blown away with how delicious and fresh the food was. This was THE BEST Asian cuisine I've had in ages. We had the spring rolls, fresh rolls with peanut sauce, and the pork fried rice. Everything was excellent. So good in fact that we delayed our departure time from camp so we could eat it for dinner on our drive back. Everything was equally delicious the second time around. I hope the locals embrace this gem and they get super busy. If you're in the area, this is the spot!!

Queen Pho

My first time to visit the area. And looking for a good pho and stumbled on this place. I ordered the Queen pho... advertised as ribeye beef but what I got are thinly sliced beef brisket, about 3 small pieces, with a piece of unknown sliced meatball (not beef balls). I've been to a lot of pho place... this one is not pho at all. There was not tripe, raw beef, meat balls, and etc. I hope they drastically improve this item. The item was too pricey, I was expecting a large size for the prize, but this one is small. I gave this 2 stars, 1 for the ambiance and 1 for the nice servers.

Excellent food and service. Nice addition to the Sault's eateries. Been here a few times and never disappointed.

Pho-King Awful So…read moredisappointing; finally took my son after looking forward for weeks; first attempt at going for supper during the week was a fail as they are only open 11-2 Mon-Thursday (until 8 on weekend). When we arrived at 11am, the door was locked; we waited a few minutes, observing lit up open signage and an employee observing us back; tried the door again; still locked. By 11:10 It was unlocked, which we knew only from trying the door a third time. Upon entering the restaurant we observed the same employee at the register, busy with something- he did not look up or greet us. There was no signage directing us to order anywhere or to be seated. I elected to grab a table and wait until the employee could talk. When he addressed us- from across the room- his tone was rude, as though we were an inconvenience; we were informed that he doesn't bring menus to the table, that we have to order and pay at the checkout- he seemed to be implying, via tone and body language, that this should have been obvious. At this point, we should have left. We did not. We ordered Pho, one with beef, one with chicken. When I paid (before receiving anything) via debit, there was a forced tip option on the machine that I could not skip. YES, they expect a minimum 15% tip for doing nothing more than preparing the food before their customers even get a taste. When our food was ready, our 4 digit receipt number was bellowed out from the kitchen- we were the only ones in the restaurant; we collected spoons and chopsticks and napkins and carried everything on a cafeteria tray back to the table, only to discover that the delicious smells had been somewhat misleading. The beef Pho was so salty that my salt-loving teenage boy could not finish his. The lemon grass chicken pho was flavourless, watery and oily. The chicken was tender, the veggies were crunchy and fresh, and that is the only good thing about the experience. Will never go back, based on service experience alone, but the food did nothing to redeem the overall experience.
