    Ham Bacon Club Sandwich
    Kathy W.

Penny's Kitchen (St. Ignace.) Lunch. Via was Counter Service, and Waitress - Friendly, Welcoming, Happy, Efficient, great at her job. Then, there was Melissa, who makes terrific food and listens to customers' requests, when passed on from Via. She made one of the best Corned Beef Reubens I've had. My sister Jane had the Ham Club, also good. We both took out half of our sandwiches for dinner plus a carryout of Tuna & Shells for tomorrow.   Personally, I could have picked at least 4 other things I would have enjoyed.  Thank goodness, the first restaurant we planned on turned out to be closed for the season, and  we would have missed trying Penny's.  So worth going to.

Great people, great food, great service

I am a part of a group that came up to fish the area. We have been doing it for 50 years. Once during the week we come to town to play golf. We stop and have breakfast on the way we found Penny's on line and decided to try it. We were very pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who helped us understand their process. She took our orders and then delivered the food. The food was amazing and large portions. If you leave there hungry it's your own fault. The place was clean and bright. Thank you Michelle for getting us off to a wonderful day of golf.

Wait, what? $5.75 for this huge breakfast!

Excellent little diner with adequate spacing and hand sanitizer at every table Place your order at the counter and food is delivered to your table. Fried potatoes with onions were delicious and eggs were perfectly cooked. 10 minutes from ordering to table! More than reasonable prices - What's not to love about Penny's Kitchen? Breakfast and lunch - closes at 5:00 pm

Chicken pot pie and Pastie with bowl gravy.

This is a nice homey place where you walk in take a menu from a menu stand, sit at a table of your choice. Once you look through the massive menu pick what you want, walk to counter and order. Sit back down at your table and they bring out hot delicious home cooked food. My Husband had the pastie with gravy and I had chicken pot pie. It was excellent! Ladies at counter were very helpful and friendly. We ended up buying food for dinner too. Desserts were awesome! We are in area for vacation and will probably be back again this week for more. Yummy!

    All day breakfast!!!

Penny's is rather unassuming from the outside, but the inside is spacious and sunny... And the menu is huge! We had a very late brunch/lunch here. I ordered two eggs, potatoes and bacon with toast. The bacon was really flavorful. I gobbled it right up! The eggs and potatoes were great too. Even the toast was tasty (I'm thinking it may be homemade). There's a coffee bar with lots of local choices like Mackinac Island Fudge flavored coffee. Make sure to grab a to go cup! Note: They serve all day breakfast!

Limited vegan menu but the veggie sandwich was fresh, crisp and delicious. The baked goods looked great too.

The lighting is good and the overall atmosphere was chill. Music played in the background and didn't interfere with conversation. 20 beers on tap. A huge bar. A pool table. All kinds of fun to be had! So, let's talk food. A simple front and back menu loaded with goodies. Two different Rueben appetizers speak to the passion of an Irish Pub. It's in the Sault, however, and the fish is the real steal of the show. I judge that everything on this menu is made with care and comes out delicious. The perch are deep fried, light and tender. Their "famous" questo tastes a lot like grandma's rotel and is absolutely delicious. Beers, Bloody Mary's, Fish, Irish fare, burgers, quality service, and plenty of seating make this place a worthy stop for nearly every audience. Come on in and you won't be disappointed. (the prices are too low to mention, imo)

Things were very clean and orderly - even the restrooms. The booths were spacious comfortable. The menu is fairly large and prices are decent. The team here is very friendly and hustles. There was not enough waitress scheduled to handle the post locks crowd. They were spread very thin. The food coming out of the kitchen was very slow as well. We were seated by the window where the food comes out. I was shocked at how long many items sat waiting on a waitress and that there was no heat lamp to help keep food warm. Our sweet potato fries came out cold. The fried pickles were okay. The dill chip was moderately thick with a heavy breading. The chip was touch and couldn't be bit into. The breading was nice and firm and a bit oily. The Cole slaw was pretty good - finely cut cabbage pieces with a thin mayo-vinegar taste. The onion rings were also good. Some rings had a thicker piece of onion. The batter was thick and a bit greasy. The garlic Parmesan wings were okay. The basket consisted of 8 small wings. The wings were battered and fried. The insides were a solid white and fairly moist. The batter was bit crunchy which was nice. The garlic Parmesan sauce didn't really have much garlic or Parmesan taste. It seemed to be a heavy buttery flavor with maybe some seasoning.

We ordered a couple of adult beverages and while waiting for our lunches, kicked back to enjoy the signs and Knick-knacks. I love learning trivia, and now I know what a goat locker is :-) My hub got the BBQ burger, which came with crispy fries. He said it was delicious. I got the pasty with brown gravy, and it was ginormous! Eating it took me back to childhood...my mom's pasties were almost just like this (hers were a little heavier on the rutabaga, so they were always soggy). It came with a side of coleslaw, so that makes it healthy, right?! Very reasonably-priced meal, especially considering the remote location. Hope we get a chance to come back someday.
