The best two things going for the Sunset Inn are: location, and a nice laid back owner.
We were camping - and not being campers decided to pack up and find a place to stay on our route home. It was a Saturday night in August so we knew there wasn't much to offer, and it would be at a premium. We came across Sunset Inn and with its proximity to the beach decided to go for it. They had one vacancy, their little cottage out back. Views of the channel etc, we paid over $400 for the night. (Yes, we were desperate for a real bed and a shower). We were REALLY disappointed that we spent that kind of money for a very old, very outdated yucky little cottage. It was clean, for clean's sake, but the carpet was old and stained. The kitchens and bath were really old and outdated. The bedroom- meh. The bed was better than the sleeping bag but far from comfortable. They made a second half bath in the closet of the bedroom, so it was this strange little step up bath...
It DID have a nice deck out back with a great view of the channel. It was in walking distance to the beach one direction and town the other direction.
The owner was nice.
The snack hut in the front (the breakfast part) was a little disappointing for anyone who isn't in to junk food- tons of boxed donuts and processed food. We skipped it.
I've stayed at other B&B's and part of what I found enjoyable was the breakfast so... ANYWAY. We chalked it up to a mistake based on desperation and lack of research. The rooms inside the main house may be a lot nicer- I can't comment on that. read more
