Our Safety was Jere he is a marine vet , he was so knowledgeable and really helps you improve your form 10 out of 10 would recommend you ask for him bc I will next time I go back , the range was great activity that day got to shoot a 50 cal and when your done you get to keep the casing , this range is awesome bc you can choose whatever fire arm of your choosing and how many rounds you want to shoot so your not commited to shooting with just one firearm if you wanna test the waters with other firearms . If you don't have the proper PPE they do offer disposable PPE for your ears and they give you glasses , if you wish to purchase they have a whole store full of items and accessories , I believe you can bring your own firearm at this location but you must purchase a visitor range pass to do so and also be transported in a case or holster and remain in the case until your at the shooting bay read more

I've wanted to go to a gun range for years and this weekend while in the Poconos we visited Sunset hill. We made RSVPs prior to coming as they DO NOT take walk ins on the weekend. A completed waiver and a valid ID is needed at check-in. You will also need to purchase ear plugs and eye protection. We shot 2 different firearms ( Cz & Scorpion ) as recommended by Eli our instructor. ELI was fantastic! We were a bit nervous but he made us feel at ease, gave great instructions and was very personable. Once you're done you're instructed to wash your hands at the hand wash station near the exit with COLD water and a special lead soap. Overall it was a great experience! I shot in the red and knocked down several metal plates. So very beginner and 1st time friendly. Highly recommend as an activity in the Poconos read more

My walk-in group of 4 had a smooth and easy experience at Sunset Hill during 4th of July weekend. We completed our waivers and were brought to the range where we waited in the dugout until an instructor was available. The videos in the waiting area were funny and informative and displayed their specials and different events. The price list was easy to read and we had time to research the guns as we waited. Our instructor, Mike L, was the best instructor we could have asked for! 3/4 of the group had never been to a range before and he was extremely patient and went through the safety instructions very thoroughly. Our group wasn't sure which guns to try out and he made some great suggestions and was patient as we went back and forth between different types of guns. I was expecting a more intimidating experience, but every step was slow, safe and everyone had a good time at a great price. I definitely recommend making a reservation as by the time we got out, the line was fairly long. I would say this is a must-go stop for any Poconos trip! read more

My friend and I came here to do some pistol shooting as where we went last year was over an hour away and Sunset Hill was half the time. We had a blast! Although Sunset Hill is a completely outdoor range, the stalls are covered so that when it rains (like when we came here), you can still shoot and relatively not get wet. We called in advance and was told that since it was a weekday that it should be ok just to do a walk-in as they were not too busy. However, the weekends you should schedule a time for you and your friends. All levels of shooters are welcome here. As we had never been here before, we had to get the short safety lecture and then also on the range show we had some competency to follow directions and complete a cease fire drill. We were then allowed to shoot to our hearts content. Our range instructors were there helping as needed as we were one of a few on the range when we went. Your $50 day pass gets you the safety lecture (good for 6 months), safety goggles and a set of earplugs. You get one hour range time after the cease fire drill. They also have tiered levels of membership available. The pro shop has clothing, glassware, weapons, safety items, more ammo (cheaper online), and other items for your perusal. Our instructor and safety lecturer were real cool and knowledgeable about our weapons and more than willing to assist. Make sure you bring photo ID with you, and if you have your own ammo, it cannot be hand-loaded. Has to be factory. If you're looking for real fancy, you can get the $500 shoot all kinds of shit package which I think would be pretty awesome. But they have rentals of just about anything you may want to play with including a grenade launcher! Although we had a great time, even buying one extra box of ammo we ran out in about 45 minutes and decided that was enough. I went through about 250 rounds. Lots of fun! The target was dead. About $80 for the initial membership fee and an hour on the range. Competent, knowledgeable, and personable staff, and we'd love to come back. I would have bought a T-Shirt, but were out of my size in the style I wanted. Recommended! read more

It's unfortunate I need to give this place 3 stars based on our most recent experience. Tip: Make a reservation and confirm you are going to the right place AFTER you check in, especially if it's busy. We were there on a Saturday and it was a bit chaotic, which I'm sure led to the mix up. Our group of 9 came here for my birthday. We showed up around 2:40 for our 3PM reservation. We all signed our waivers, checked in with the staff at the counter, and was pointed to the door to the range. The guy near the door said something about walk ins, and one of our group members told him we had a reservation. He didn't comment on that and said we were the third group to go outside. At this point, it was a little past 3 already. We were brought out to another waiting area, where there was a giant line of people waiting for a shooting lane. By 4PM, there was still no movement in this line of people! I went inside and asked if we could get a refund of the $53 reservation fee I paid because even with a reservation, we were still waiting an hour later. I was told no. After discussing with my group, we decided we'd just eat the $53 and get our ID's. At check out, they wanted to charge us an additional $50 for our eye and ear protection, and this is where I almost lost it. I told them we didn't get to shoot, we made a reservation and still waited an hour for nothing, so I refuse to pay anything additional. The guy then went on to tell me that WE were the ones that were late, that WE showed up at 4:10PM for a 3PM reservation. I proceeded to show him the text confirmation that I got for my waiver at 2:46PM, and also pointed out the reservation times on the back of the cards we were given, to which he STILL told me we arrived late. The person who checked us in then turned around and corrected him saying we weren't late, we were checked in on time, and also pointed to the time on the back of the cards. The guy then went to go talk to a few more people. After another 10 min of back and forth of him asking what time we arrived/what time our reservation was, he came back to apologize and let us know that they messed up, they sent us to the walk in line, and that they would assign an instructor ASAP. By this point, it was around 4:20 and they close at 6, so we had to be really quick. They only gave us one instructor for 9 people, which made this go even slower. We wanted to shoot the Desert Eagle and a few rifles, but was told we all had to shoot one of the smaller pistols first. By the time we were done with the 2 pistols, we only had time for 1 person to try out a rifle, which was super frustrating. Our instructor, Tyler, was definitely the best part of our day. He was friendly and super patient. At the end, they comped our eye and ear protection for the mix up. If everything had gone smoothly, this place easily would've been 5 stars. read more

First, they need to get more port-potties or build some real toilets. The single porto-potty is dirty and stinks like someone died in there. For the price you charge you can put a few more if you cared about your customers, especially the female ones. Second, my checkout didn't refund or credit my $25 deposit. I walked out to the parking looking at the receipt and went back in to ask for it before. Got it refunded. Make sure you remember to check for that when you check out. Today was my second time coming to This shooting range. First time was in 2016, and I had a great time. This time around, I had an even better time. My instructor was Ellie, and she really is a unicorn! She was very enthusiastic, friendly, an absolute pleasure to be with. I get nervous around guns, but I do have fun shooting. This was my third time shooting overall. She was a great instructor and guided me through every step. Her recommendations were perfect for a beginner like me. I had way less recoil with her compared to last time I was here. My final gun was the Barrett M99 .50 BMG. I was hesitant to shot it because it has so much power, but Ellie made it so simple for me. I got the target thanks to her! If you get Ellie, you are in great hands! As for the shooting range itself, the staff is overall great. They try their best to accommodate their guests, and are friendly as well. The place was clean. However, restrooms are porter potties. There is a sink available for you to use. Their guns are securely locked, and there are cameras on the premises. I felt very safe here. My visit was a walk in, waited a little over an hour, and I arrived about 15 mins after opening. Reservations are highly recommended if you go, but again, you will have a great time. read more

Place was DOOOOOOPPPPEEEE!!! Everything we expected and more! So much variety to choose from. We shot everything that we got our hands on and there was a lot to choose from. One of my favorite guns was the Smith and Wesson and which felt like real power when it shot off. My husband favors the Glock 19 which is pretty damned smooth if I say so myself. I tried my hands on a AR15 and I was surprised I handled it well. Not as crazy as I expected but definitely had power. All in all my fav was definitely the Smith and Wesson. Not surprised as I had one before. There's just so much BOOM factor in that little hand piece. My husband also favored his Assualt rifle with a long scope. The ARs were dope all around. They have a great collection. They work as safely as possible. They have great instructors. Targets range from huge and easy to small and difficult. They have a "duck" hunt and babbbbyyyy the rifle hurts like pure hell kicking back into your chest cavity as it pops off. Won't do that one again. But definitely coming back for my son's birthday! read more

I've been here a couple times and each time the staff and instructors are very informative, very aware of their surroundings (as they should be), helpful and patient especially with first time shooters. I live down the street from Gun For Hire in NJ and I would so much rather drive the hour and 20 minutes to Sunset Hill! The prices are very reasonable & you don't feel rushed by any of the staff or other patrons. I can't wait for the weather to get nicer to come back with friends and family. 1000/10 I would really recommend. My boyfriend, bestfriend, and I went yesterday 3/23 for my boyfriend's birthday and it was amazing. So much fun, exciting, and amazing. To top it off our instructor Tyler was so nice, welcoming, and made us have a good time. We laughed the whole time. He recommend his favorite guns to us since we were beginners and he also taught us a lot. First time at this range for my boyfriends birthday and I was impressed. I made reservations a week in advance just to make sure we wouldn't have to wait or not be able to shoot due to Covid restrictions. The staff was awesome! The atmosphere was great to be around for either beginners or more experienced shooters. They have a wide variety of firearms which is very exciting and the instructors are so helpful and knowledgeable! I've been here twice and both times have been great experience. Before I came here, I'll say that I had ZERO experience with guns and couldn't tell you the first thing about them. However, the staff here is incredible at walking you through every step of how to properly use the guns available. I came here in a group of two couples yesterday and we had Bill Beard as our instructor. He is a wonderful instructor. I only wanted to shoot a handgun because I was afraid of the larger guns, but once I saw him showing my group how to use everything, I felt like I could do it, too. And I'm so glad I did, because how many people can say they've shot a SNIPER? Everything here is priced a la carte, from your headphone and eyewear rentals, to each gun and the set amount of bullets you shoot, so it can definitely add up quickly. We were here for around an hour or so, and each couple spent around $100. This location gets a wide range of visitors, from New York and Pennsylvania and beyond. It's definitely worth the drive! Always wanted to visit a shooting range, friend told us about it while in PA. Staff was very nice and safety was a huge priority at the site. Bunch of retired law enforcement guys or gun enthusiasts. Wearing your and glasses was mandatory. You practice first holding and aiming at the target unloaded, you get comfortable and then they load the gun. You are paying essentially for the live rounds, if you can't finish your set because of fear or just a crapy shot your friend/fam can finish your rounds so you can move on. But check in and background check was smooth sailing. The attendants behind the counter were very informative and answered all our questions. Not to mention everyone was super friendly as well! We were led outside to meet our instructor. He was incredible! Very knowledgeable. We had a few people in our group who was their first time firing a firearm. We went here for a bachelorette and did the Defcon 4 VIP Experience. It was absolutely the right choice of shooting range and package for us! We had a group with mixed experience, and our guides, Autumn and Antonio, were absolutely amazing. They were incredibly knowledgable, helpful, and so personable. We had a great time with them, and they were encouraging and patient every step of the way! For our bride-to-be they provided a sash and protective head gear that had a crown made of bullets on it - the perfect way to recognize her! The VIP experience had us in a separated bay with dedicated guns, and a great array of guns to choose from. It was super easy to add-on, also, if we chose to. They had complementary waters and Gatorade, and took pictures and videos for us, too! I would 100% recommend Sunset Hill Shooting Range, the VIP experience, and above all, Autumn and Antonio!
