This went from awesome to "I'm never going back". I was there on 11/25 and called 11/30. The corner of La Brea & Sunset isn't the poshest neighborhood, but this spacious establishment located on the 2nd floor of a fading strip center is actually a good spot. You have the options of taking the stairs or a sketchy elevator only a serial killer could love. I paid $50 + Tip for a 60-minute Foot Reflexology in the open area main room. This is about $20 more than I pay for a similar experience back home in Houston, TX. After a relaxing, warm foot bath I settled in for a thorough foot and leg massage -- with the perfect pressure. I've never had so much focused attention on my toes! Apparently my calf muscles were really tight too. If you're a tourist weary from sightseeing or a local looking for a good spot to relax - check them out! We asked for deep tissue and the lady doing my husband started using her elbows, which he hates, and asked her to use her fingers instead. The lady got upset and yelled out to the manager, clearly upset by the request, spoke in their language, then left! WTF! The manager then told my husband that the 15min massage was on the house and he can wait for someone else. Lol. My husband got our son up and said, "Let's go!" Really my main issue is their reflexology combo is not a real massage chair. It's a bunch of pillows that lean on a bed and you're expected to turn your head 90 degrees to the side cause there's not breathing in the middle like a normal massage chair. Then my guy pushed on my shoulder and tweaked my neck that did not hurt unless massaged when I walked in. That was 2 minutes in. Their system is idiotic. To have people that come for neck and shoulder turn their head like that is ridiculous. I'm very disappointed. I scheduled a 60 min foot/reflexology massage. I specifically asked when I walked in if they truly did reflexology. That was amazing. I had recently threw out my back and was worried from the views that going here would be too rough (I'm a softy). I walked in, told the masseuse that I threw out my back and what they recommend. They suggested the full body massage. I did the 40 min version and let me tell you, sometime in the middle I was like "man, is it still 40 min? This seems long!" The masseuse was very gentle with my lower back and I felt like he was able to listen to my body and responded accordingly. I recommend this place. Definitely going back. I have been to this Spa several times and have always been very happy with it. Thats why while I was in LA for a few days this past week I decided to go there again and get a nice foot and body massage before going back home. I made an appointment and when I got there and was taken to my bed there was a blonde white woman there waiting for me. At first it kind of threw me because this is and has always been an asian massage spa. But I thought ok lets do this! I figured she was probably going to give me the massage of my life. So I laid down on the bed and she started to massage me. I quickly realized it was not at all going to be the massage of my life. In fact it ended up being the worst massage I have ever gotten, and I have gotten tons of massages over the years. The woman was very nice, but seriously was the worst massage ever. As she was rubbing my back to start she was using the side of her forearm to press into my back. There was no pressure at all. Most of the time she basically just laid her arm on my back and moved it around. She even asked me if I wanted more pressure and I said YES PLEASE, and she said ok but the pressure never changed. Then when it came to the foot massage part it was even worse! I was ready to scream it was so frustrating how bad it was! There was no pressure at all and she never once pushed on any areas trying to hit any pressure points. Even after I pulled the towel off my eyes and looked at her and she asked if I wanted more pressure and I said YES! she still didn't do it. She basically just pet my feet for a half an hour. I could not wait for her to finish! I almost stopped her and told her I was done, but I didn't want to ruin the massage that my two friends were getting next to me. So I just laid there about to crawl out of my skin waiting for it to end. Finally it was over and I immediately got up and paid so I could get out of there. What was even more disappointing than the horrible massage is that I paid $60 for the massage and then I tipped her $20. So I basically wasted $80 for nothing. Because I didn't get a massage. I got petted for an hour. I don't have a problem with the spa. I've always had a good massage before. But if you go here and they try and give you the blonde white woman tell them you want someone else, unless you want to just throw your money away for nothing. On every LA trip, there's a continuous cadence. The friend that I stay with always comes with me to a questionable massage joint for a cheap price. This trip was no different, it was time for cheap massages! She told me about a place literally 2 blocks from her apartment. I was super excited because I really needed this! This joint is located in one of the many two story strip malls on Sunset Blvd. There are a couple of different spas in this center, a copy place and a fast food restaurant. When you get to the second floor, you notice the sign that says, open 7 days a week, 10am-10pm. NICE! Once you walk in, you'll notice the intimate lighting. There are suede chairs in the front, a mixture of wood floors and carpet which is weird but for the most part a modern look. The actual massage room is blocked off by beaded curtains and potted plants. In the massage area, there's reclining oversized chairs and a huge mural of a mountain and a lake. What I'm try to say is this place is super Asian and I love it! For the massage, they have a menu. It includes a combo reflexology, foot reflexology and upper body massages. On this visit, we chose the Upper Body Chair Massage, 30 minutes for $25. What a steal. You're in the chair the whole time, however the masseuse was amazing. Such a great deal. He focuses on upper, lower back and upper gluts. The stretches you, cracks you and works on your back knots. I loved it. Completely worth every penny! You've gotta try this place out! Been having worse and worse service each time and this past time I called 40-mins before to ask if they had an opening for one person, they said yes.
