My son and I made an appointment to be seen by the PA last week. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. First, we were placed in a room that was extremely warm, around 80 degrees. I was there for my yearly checkup, and my 19-year-old son was there for an acne evaluation. The medical assistant came in after a few minutes for the intake, then gave me an exam gown and asked me to change (while my son was still in the rooms!) Before she left, I mentioned that the room was very warm and that I was starting to feel unwell. She explained that the three large machines in the room produced a lot of heat and tried to move us to another room. However, the PA came in and said not to worry because the appointment would be quick. She saw my son first. I felt that she was very dismissive and lacked empathy regarding his previous experience with acne treatment. When I asked what would be considered a serious side effect of Accutane besides a severe purge and joint pains, she responded, "Only if you see that he's having a hard time walking." Given his previous experience, I was hoping for a more thorough discussion of the potential side effects and our concerns. When it was my turn to have my yearly examination, I felt very rushed. I was not given an opportunity to change into the gown, and the examination did not feel as thorough as I expected for an annual checkup. I got to show her my main concern which was my birthmark, later a small sun spot on my face.... I had other several skin concerns I wanted to show her but I felt rushed so I didn't get to. I told her I had some skin tags I wanted to have removed. She said, "Sure, I'll let you know how much that will be since insurance doesn't cover it." She then left the room, and I never saw her again. The medical assistant later returned, k told her again the room was too hot... she was nice and told us to follow her to another room. She gave me the iPLEDGE paperwork and a list of products the PA recommended, including several products sold in the office for rosacea. I reminded the assistant about the skin tag removal, and she said she had forgotten and would bring me the pricing. At that point, I just wanted to leave. Overall, I felt rushed, unheard, and disappointed with the lack of communication and empathy. Perhaps the fact that our appointment was at 11:45 a.m. had something to do with everyone being in a hurry to leave for lunch, but regardless, that should not affect the quality of care a patient receives. Unfortunately, this was a terrible experience, and we will not be returning to this office. read more

I have to say, from ease of finding parking to the warm welcome of the front desk and wait time (almost less than five minutes - if even). I was extremely happy with my experience. I met with Monica, PA-C who was thorough in explanation with my service with Dysport and rather than overselling the product/service, she took a conservative approach which I appreciate as it gave just the right look. Still natural, glowing, and what Botox should look like! On top of that the individual skin care routine recommended by her and Diana, with products I can actually keep up with and look forward to using, being that I don't use much make up on a daily basis and am in the gym and sun every day. read more

Scheduling the appointment was seamless, and I was really impressed with the beauty of the office! Wow! On to the service. I was seen by Virginia, who was really wonderful. She took her time discussing the different peels available, and they had a very large variety, which also impressed me. Once we selected one she made sure to explain each step as she went along. She was very thorough and such a pleasure. She answered all my questions and was very knowledgeable. I have a burn on my finger that developed into a hard bump. When I arrived at the office I specifically stated I wanted to make sure I was in the right Doctor before having to pay $50. My issue is not skin related but instead a cyst. I was told I was in the right office. The PA walked in, looked at my finger and said "you have to see a hand surgeon that wouldn't be done here." The entire interaction with the PA not even a doctor was about 70 seconds long. I asked for my $50 back because I was told this was the correct office to which the PA said "the $50 is to see a doctor and diagnosis. I'm diagnosing you to see a different specialist." Complete bullshit and theft of money when no service was provided. I can google hand surgeons myself. read more

I've been a patient of Sunset dermatology for years, and I have never been disappointed. For the most part I have seen Dr. Perez-Quintairos but recently I have also seen the PA Ponce who is excellent as well. They are always quick to answer the phone, have decent appointment availability and lots of amenities in the office. There is coffee, wifi and even a little shop to buy some A+ skincare. As for the treatment- it's timely and friendly. This isn't a doctors office that you wait in forever after your appointment time. Before my wedding I came here monthly for facials and my skin never looked more clear. Recently I have been going for laser hair removal, but also rely on the team for those necessary check ups from summer days in the Miami sun. Monica Ponce is business minded, and her priority is to make a profit, rather than to treat the condition with the best of her abilities. After paying almost 500 dollars to take care of a few superficial spider veins, they did not go away. When I returned, she said that I would need "additional treatments" and, of course, there would be "additional charges." Around four years ago, a great doctor who has since left the area, had treated the same type of spider veins that I had back then, and they all disappeared with only one treatment that cost me only close to 200 dollars. I do not trust Sunset Dermatology, because my experience proved that greed prevails. I gave them 500 dollars of my hard earned money for absolutely nothing! read more

Cool sculpting is a non-invasion form of liposuction which requires no down time and is on my wish list for sure. The facials compliment your skin care and really help achieve the results you want. The products sold here are top of the line and due to their amazing monthly promotions, I'm able to take advantage and stock up on al my goods. Living in Miami, getting a laser package is just as necessary as having a sunpass so say goodbye to your razor & hello to silky soft skin! Twice a year they host a Beauty Brunch and if you bring a friend, you'll get a 20% off plus an extra 10% on top of that. I love the relationship they have with their patients, it really is top-notch treatment from the moment you're making an appointment all the way through to your follow-up visit. This review has two parts; management of the practice, and the medical/care professionals. First, the bad. I have visited Sunset Dermatology for non-cosmetic appointments roughly 6 times in the past 2 years. On about 1/2 of the occasions, I am left in the waiting room for 30 to 45 minutes. No word from the desk staff about "sorry, we are running behind", or even better, no call 30 minutes before one arrives to say "we are running behind, no need to hurry here." On my last visit, I waited 35 minutes (after checking in early) after my appointment time, and informed the front desk that I was leaving due to the appointment time not being met. They asked me to wait while they got the office manager to speak with me. I waited 8 more minutes, no appearance by the manager. At that point I asked the desk staff to have the manager call me. No call. On the plus side, the medical/care staff is very polite and professional. Good listeners, and from what I see on my skin, good practitioners. If this review was based solely on the management of this practice, I would give it 1 star. But thankfully for Sunset Derm, they have some skilled and nice professionals. read more

I am very satisfied with my experience at Sunset Dermatology. Competition for dermatologists is fierce here in Miami. Every couple of blocks you have a dermatology clinic or spa vying for your business. I've seen countless dermatologists throughout the years, so needless to say, I've developed a bit of a standard. I came here for treatment of a hypertrophic scar for which I was treating with monthly steroid injections. There was a bit of a mix up during my first visit as to whether insurance would cover these injections. I had to pay $85 for a Kenalog injection that costs $25 to buy. A few weeks after this initial visit, the receptionist called me to schedule a follow up injection. I told her what had happened last time and the fact that my insurance technically is supposed to cover Kenalog injections. She checked the records and told me they'll give me an $85 credit for my inconvenience and from now on they will get insurance approval for future injections prior to my arrival. I was very content with this! It's hard to find businesses that make amends to keep their customers happy. On my second visit, I saw Natalie, one of the PAs. She's excellent! We had a great rapport, and she took her time to educate me on my scar as well as answer all my skin care questions. I know she had other patients waiting, but she never rushed during her visit with me. I continue to see her for both my scar and overall dry skin for which we are trying different treatments for. She is trustworthy and doesn't attempt to sell you clinic products. There are plenty of efficacious over-the-counter creams and cleansers that get the job done and she was great at recommending them All in all, I think this dermatology clinic is worth your time and money. read more

I told the receptionist that I was considering switching dermatologists but I did not want to make a decision blindly, I wanted to compare prices, but still the answer was no. My experience at Sunset Dermatology was a very positive one. Their office is beautiful and the staff is very courteous and professional. They also offered skin care products which I find very convenient. My first appointment was with Dr. Ileana R. Perez and I must say I was impressed by her knowledge, attention to detail, and professionalism. She took her time to explain my condition as well as the procedure in great detail and offered a variety of options for my particular case but it never felt like she was pushing a specific service or procedure on me; it felt more like when a friend loves you enough to be honest to you and tell you that there is something you may want to fix so you can look your best. That's how I felt. She is just great and kind and just amazing. I'm very lucky to have found her and this place. I have been here a handful of times mainly for facials. Cindy is the best. aesthetician. ever. I've had troubled skin for the first time in my life and she has been such a blessing to my skin! I have been to other aestheticians in the past that leave my skin scarred but with Cindy my skin is radiant and without scarring post facial. I definitely recommend her. I do not recommend this place. Today was the second time they scheduled me and I get there and they tell me my appointment is another day. I called yesterday and was offered a spot for HydraFacial today with Daniella at 9am. I got there early and waited in the parking lot. I walked in 15 minutes before my appointment and the receptionist told me my appointment was on May 16th! There is no way I told her, I had just called yesterday and had spoken with someone when they offered me a spot today at 9am. They even took my credit card, I had to put $50 down to make the appointment. Then the person making the appointment told me I had a $50 credit which I never knew and was never reimbursed to me! So I had a credit card on file and she was happy. Today, besides them not having me in their system for a 9am appointment with Daniella I was told they had someone else at the same time, so.....they double booked! There was no apology, no accommodating, they just looked at me like I am crazy saying my appointment was on the 16th. I not only just called them yesterday but also gave a deposit and now there is an appointment I never made or agreed with on the 16th! I called to complain and ask for my money back and the scheduler just sent me back to the front desk, I was not able to request money back. I am not going back to this place and I recommend you don't either. Horrible customer service, poor employee training, extremally unprofessional staff. read more

Please do not waste your time at this clinic. Dr. Gonzalez suggested I do multiple unnecessary procedures for a simple plantar wart which DID NOT work charging me about $250. Furthermore, they sent me to a Bloodwork lab that was not in my network, and now I have a charge of over $1500 for simple blood testing. This is about 9 months later and I am still trying to resolve this issue. The finance manager said that I would not have to pay anything since the error was on their part. Yet, I keep getting a bill for $1500 every month and this could really ruin my credit score. They won't ever call me back even though I leave messages for them. I am a medical student, and I know exactly the kind of service that should be provided, and this place is absolutely horrendous. I honestly suggest you search for another derm clinic!! read more

I have never written a review before and I generally do not support people in reviewing places because I feel everyone can have a bad day and it should not necessarily have to affect the reputation of a business. However, I feel I need to report this in order for things to change for the better. It was my second time at Sunset Dermatology and I think I've received good medical care at this place. Most of the staff is very professional and friendly. The receptionists are very attentive and organized. The place is beautiful and very clean. Nevertheless, I felt very uncomfortable during my dermatology appointment because Monica, the person who saw me, was very disrespectful with me. I work in the health care field myself and I would never made the comments she did to me to any of my patients. I hope she takes this review in considerarion in future interactions with patients. I must admit I was a bit skeptical about doing CoolSculpting, but after my initial consultation with Manuela, the CoolSculpting Specialist, I felt so at ease.
