We hired Milben Construction for a residential remodel after receiving a competitive quote and a…read moreprofessional initial presentation. The original scope included a kitchen remodel with a layout change, one bathroom, and flooring. Based on early progress, we executed additional written change orders expanding the project to multiple bathrooms and most of the house. After the final change order was signed, progress slowed significantly. There were often only one or two workers on site, limited supervision, and long periods with minimal activity. Payment requests were made in amounts and at times that did not align with the agreed schedule, and supporting documentation was delayed when requested. As we raised concerns about progress and completion dates, communication became increasingly difficult. In multiple interactions, we experienced the contractor raised his voice, became confrontational, and responded in a hostile manner when timelines or documentation were discussed, making coordination and resolution challenging. By the contractual completion date, we had paid the contractor in full, including a substantial amount beyond the original contract amount, yet the project remained substantially incomplete (approximately 60% completed). Only one of four bathrooms was finished, the kitchen was missing most cabinets well past its scheduled completion date, several bathrooms lacked basic fixtures, brand-new appliances were damaged during installation, and a roof repair, ventitian plaster and other details included in the scope were not performed. After requesting a revised completion timeline, work ceased, and additional invoices were submitted for items that were not completed, not part of the contract, or already paid for. We later became involved in a dispute regarding a lien filed against the property, which was ultimately removed through the legal process. At the time of resolution, it was determined that funds were owed back to us. According to publicly available CSLB records reviewed after these events, the contractor's license is currently suspended during the time this review is written. This review reflects our direct experience. Homeowners are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence and verify license history before engaging this contractor.

Stan, the founder and owner of Milben Construction, was responsive, professional, thorough and did what he promised to do - on time and on budget. Thankfully we didn't require an entire new roof but that didn't stop Stan from giving me the kind of attention that most contractors reserve for their biggest clients. Regardless of the size of your job I strongly suggest you contact Stan first... I wasted time with several other roofers before meeting him and two minutes into our conversation I knew he was the real deal. I am 100% satisfied with his work and I am very, very critical of most contractors. Well done, Stan.

Just had 2 new garage doors installed by David at Seattle Garage Door and Gate Repair I asked if I…read morecould help with the install and see how the pros do it and David said "let's do it." I had a swell time ripping off the old doors and bolting in some new ones. The installation technique I requested was unique and David gave me some extra parts free of charge! A couple days later I noticed that the main bottom seal on one of the doors was pinched and letting lots of air flow through. I talked to Tom, who I believe is the owner, and he sent David back over that day. David looked at it, went back to the shop, then came back a 1/2 hour later with a brand new seal. Project #2 I had some old field fencing that needed removed and the new fence updated to match the fence on the rest of the property. David was very helpful with achieving the end result I indicated. The initial estimate included one new gate and reusing one existing gate. After seeing the new gate, I decided to have them build the other gate as well. The crew came out in the middle of the winter, the fellows were working in cold and wet weather. They were very upbeat, positive attitudes throughout, friendly and professional. There was one terminal post that had shifted and was not perpendicular after the concrete dried. I sent a picture to Seattle Garage Doors and Gate Repair , they were more than happy to come out and reset the terminal post which included the angled bracing post. Again, despite the weather, the installers were great!! Seattle Garage Doors is more than just a name with these folks - it is the way they do business, the quality of the job, the crew that they have I'm very happy! Thanks fellas.

I paid $740 to replace the springs to my garage maybe high but I don't mind paying for good service and quality work. When he started to work he told me he had to remove some wood we use for storage and when he was done he would lay place it back without screws. I approved it. Come to my garage and now he's removing the Styrofoam backing and I'm OK with it.I figured it's fine I can always add screws no big deal. Long story short he broke the backings and when he was he done he just threw the wood and broken pieces where my storage goes, made a huge mess and didn't clean up after himself. Left Styrofoam and screws all over my garage floor! Not only did I pay $740 but I got to clean up after him,I got a flat tire cause I drove on a screw he left on the floor, and get to pay to get it fixed but now I have to pay someone to replace the Styrofoam backing to my storage section and replace the wood panels! Definitely won't use this company again and don't Recommend them! They did get it done on a Saturday but took advantage of the situation and did a poor job
