The women's washroom had no soap for at least two days and the men's was running out of TP when we left. The shower could definitely use updating since you couldn't aim the shower head and the room should have been cleaned more often. The tent campsites across from us were tiny compared to other campgrounds. You have to park your car in the space allowed leaving not enough of room for a large tent, but most of the tent campers were couples with smaller tents. We rented the two yurts for 4 nights. The site for each yurt is quite large since it looked like the site formally was for 2 tent sites. They have a single outlet and a heater. The mattress pads were a joke and thankfully we brought a blow up mattress just in case. The yurt was much smaller than the cabins at other Washington State campgrounds so we had to organize kitchen utensils, etc. on the floor. The yurts have a bunkbed, twin on top and full lower. Our yurt had no ladder to get to the top, but our daughter's family's did have a ladder. (They didn't have blow up mattresses and I don't know how they managed to sleep. Our daughter did say she had bruises because the mattress sunk to the boards underneath.) Would we go back? Well, if it's just my wife and I, then we'd find a nice rental (and admittedly pay a lot more).

Massive sculptural sea stacks rise along the shoreline, rugged and dramatic. The beach is strewn with driftwood, some pieces arranged so naturally they feel like art instillations. Its name comes from the subtle reddish mineral flecks in the sand, which glow beautifully when the sun hits them. We loved exploring this area, and it's absolutely a must-stop if you're anywhere near Forks. Vault restrooms are available just off the parking lot; they're basic and don't have running water. Because this beach is part of Olympic National Park, you'll need to pay the daily entrance fee or better yet, grab an America the Beautiful Pass for access to all national parks. I wouldn't recommend walking barefoot or swimming here. The water stays around 45-55°F year-round, the waves are powerful, and the surf can be unpredictable. This is a place to admire, wander, and soak in the wild beauty of the coast.

"Valley of the Rain Forest Giants"…read more I spent the last day of my trip to Washington in the Quinault Valley next to Lake Quinault. Quinault is located in the southwestern area of Olympic National Park. One way to experience this Valley is to drive the scenic 30 mile loop drive around Lake Quinault, up the Quinault River into Olympic National Park, and back around the other side. There are opportunities to see waterfalls and wildlife on this drive. I personally like to get out of the car and experience nature in person on a hike. In this Valley is the Quinault Rain Forest. This forest is a temperate rain forest that receives an average of 17 feet of rain per year. The Quinault Rain Forest is known for its lush, moss-covered trees and ferns. The Quinault Rainforest Nature Loop is a short easy hike that allows you to get up and close to this rain forest. The trail takes you through an old-growth forest all the way down to Willaby Creek. You can go either way to start the loop hike. Along the way, you will see massive trees, nurse logs, a small waterfall and lots of moss. I personally enjoyed all of the different colored Hydrangea everywhere. There are lots of things to discover on this trail. You might even spot some wildlife. This was my first visit to this area. I decided to stop at the Quinault Rain Forest Ranger Station first to learn more about the Quinault Valley. There was a park ranger on hand that answered my questions about the Quinault Rain Forest and how to get to my hotel. He gave me a paper map of some of the nearby hiking trails. For a few months this year the whole area was closed for erosion repair. But now it's partially opened. There is a narrow access to part of a beach, sandwiched between tribal land with a defunct marina on one side and a privately owned beach on the other. The beach is accessible only to those who can scramble down a several-foot drop from the abruptly broken-off road. To the commenter looking for lots of driftwood, drive north to the beach associated with Mora Campground in Olympic National Park. Go to the town of Forks, then drive west 30 minutes to the park, then a few more minutes to Rialto Beach. It has a parking lot, and the beach is right there. Last time I was there huge driftwood had taken over the beach, requiring visitors to clamber over logs. Lots of fun if you're able.

My dog and I have been walking the trails for years, if you're up for a good walk there's a 2.5 mile walk to the start and finish of the Copalis River, quite near to the famous Copalis Rock, and if it's low tide you can walk up and see starfish and assorted anemones on the rocks. The beach is traditionally near empty of people, and at times the beach can reveal lots of sand dollars to look at. We are allowed to have beach fires but please keep those fires a good distance from the dune grasses which ignite easily. I almost hate writing this review because I don't wish to see it awash with people, but it's too nice of a park to keep it a "secret". There's a pavilion for hosting parties, and barbecues. There are restrooms and a fresh water spigot nearby. ENJOY!

Most of the folks I went with were new to razor clamming and did not bring boots or waders. There was a stream we needed to cross that was too deep, so we took a detour over a bridge to the beach. There were lots of razor clam holes. It was like digging one right after another. I definitely had a good time.

We stayed and camped here for 4 nights total leading up to the 4th of July. The park was mostly…read moreempty when we were there and overall was not too noisy. Most of the noise were children playing around during the day but most got very quiet once dark. The park is nice and well kept, this is a newer section that I stayed at. They do have an older side that is a bit more rugged and off grid. The new side spots have power and water. They do provide a sewer dump station which is out off the street. The power hookups had both 30 and 50 amp and it had 2 normal 120 plugs which is what I used to run things. Most of the sites are decent size, not all of them are leveled though, the one I was in was a bit steep and the one next to me even steeper and they had a trailer they had to fight to level. Some of the sites are easy pull thrus but only a few. I noticed at least one ADA site that also has concrete around the pit for those with disabilities. They also had several first come first serve sites. The new side also has a brand new bathroom which is pretty nice and it has multiple bathrooms multiple showers available all newer and upgraded. I am missing those as I am in the grayland state park now where nothing is very new and there seems to always be a line to use one of 2 toilets in the loop. The park is along the river and you can get to it very easy with a couple of trails they have. There is also a trail you can enjoy that goes along the river between it and the campground that is very green. As for staying connected to the world at this park.... you cant unless you bring Starlink, I was able to get pretty decent speeds with my starlink but it can be a challenge depending which site you get and how many trees are in line of site. I was in 2 different sites during my stay and one was easier than the other. None of the cellular networks were working from what I was able to see, T-Mobile was a dud for sure with SOS the whole time, the park wifi allows you to load a page or two for checkin but nothing other than that if you can even get it to connect. Overall it was a pleasant stay and a campground I would possibly consider again in the future. Its a bit more remote for those who need to be connected.
