My husband and I camped here many times (were engaged here too) and since 4 children soon followed, our camping slid off for the past 13 years. We just made our first return to this wonderful park and the updates over the years only make it better. I love yurts and have stayed in them in many different parks in WA and OR. They are really nice for families. I'm not ready to go to a tent yet with so many kids and all their accouterments so this is a nice halfway point. We stayed in a pet friendly yurt (87), which was the only yurt in that circle. Though the circle was full, it was quiet. We stayed Sun-Tues and again, while the park was mostly full it was blessedly still and friendly. We love the quick walk to the ocean. Grayland beach is massive and wide and there is plenty of room for everyone. Our doggie had a blast running his little heart out. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and checked at least 2x a day by rangers. The showers were fine... typical for a state park though a couple seemed to flood immediately upon turning on the faucet. This park keeps it simple. Well placed sites, mere steps to the ocean, the sound of waves in your ears and the fresh salty air. A+

The waves weren't as big and dramatic as they could get but it was still very cool to see the ocean rolling so much. Normally we go when it's nice and tranquil but we finally took it in with a storm coming in to boot along with the tides which created a cool but really intense experience. The wind was very strong and it was raining so staying outside for a long time wasn't really an option. Still it was really a fun experience and this sandy beach is normally a great place to go to in the summer!

I want to first say that I grew up in Southern California so Chance a la Mer is a bit underwhelming…read morepark but it does the job if you're staying close by and want to be close to the water. Parking is super accessible. The great thing is that you can drive your car straight onto the beach or you can park by the gift shop and walk over. You'll find a bunch of people sitting outside of their cars and their food. It's quite windy here so if you're into flying kites, you'll love it here. You can also see people riding horses here too. Overall the beach is kind of lackluster and the water is pretty dirty.

My dog and I have been walking the trails for years, if you're up for a good walk there's a 2.5 mile walk to the start and finish of the Copalis River, quite near to the famous Copalis Rock, and if it's low tide you can walk up and see starfish and assorted anemones on the rocks. The beach is traditionally near empty of people, and at times the beach can reveal lots of sand dollars to look at. We are allowed to have beach fires but please keep those fires a good distance from the dune grasses which ignite easily. I almost hate writing this review because I don't wish to see it awash with people, but it's too nice of a park to keep it a "secret". There's a pavilion for hosting parties, and barbecues. There are restrooms and a fresh water spigot nearby. ENJOY!

Most of the folks I went with were new to razor clamming and did not bring boots or waders. There was a stream we needed to cross that was too deep, so we took a detour over a bridge to the beach. There were lots of razor clam holes. It was like digging one right after another. I definitely had a good time.

But you will not regret coming here (especially if you were considering going to Ocean Shores!) The 18 miles of sandy beaches that stretch from Westport to Tokeland is otherwise known as the South Beach is everything you would want in a Pacific Northwest Beach. Whether you're looking for a fishing adventure, beautiful beaches, surfing, kite flying, whale watching, crabbing, or just relaxing, the South Beach is the place to be. In the summer, you can beat it to beat the heat. It's not overdeveloped, in fact its quite understated. The marina district has a nice mixture of upscale restaurants (we got our first sushi restaurant, yay!) and hole-in-the-wall diners. Fishing is still a very important part of the community, and if you've ever wanted to try a fishing charter, you can do that from July 1 until the quotas are met for less than a round of drinks in downtown Seattle. Surfing is huge here, at Westhaven State Park and Half Moon Bay. There are 2 surf shops in town (Steepwater Surf Shop, and The Surf Shop) that can outfit you with a wetsuit and a board for under $50. A lesson will cost a little more, but not by much. Bikes and paddleboats are available for rent down on the water. Kites can be purchased for just a few dollars and can keep your kids busy for hours. In the spring and fall, watch the WDFW to see when the beaches are open for clamming. During crab season, you can drop your crab pots right off of the fisherman's boardwalk - no boats required. Starting in September, the salmon that were released by the local high school class start to return to the Marina, and you can fish right off the boardwalk and participate in the Salmon Derby. There is all kinds of old fashioned fun here. It's perfect for a romantic getaway or a family trip. Day trips and overnighters. There is everything from campgrounds to low budget motels, to luxury condos. All only 2 hours from Sea Tac!"

We loved watching jellyfish and seeing Sea Lions right off the dock! We love Half-Moon Beach for the waves, the rock-hunting and how natural it is. The path from the observation tower to the end of the beach is well maintained and easy walking. We also loved watching the boats - even the HUGE ships in the bay! My family loves Westport and highly recommend it for a stay or a day trip if you're in the area!!

Every site has a variety of good points. Joy, who worked daily in the park office was incredibly friendly and helpful. She assisted us when there was an opportunity to move to another site for electricity. The beach access is ADA accommodating, and downtown Pacific Beach is within walking distance. This portion of the shore is lovely. We will be back. A state park that is nothing more than a glorified RV camp is fitting for this town. I owned a…read moresecond home in town for the past 8 years and have been to the park on several occasions. It borders on decent in the off season when deserted, if you can overlook all the run down and abandoned structures surrounding it. But in season it is a true trailer park with all the fixings! On my last visit in July, I was taking photos for the sales ad for my property -- trying to find anything of interest that might lure a potential buyer. During this "adventure," I was accosted by a group of locals who told me to go f*** myself for photographing and, 25 mins later, by another woman who thought I was code enforcement looking to "get her again." I was so happy when I convinced some rose-colored glasses vacationer to buy my 8-year mistake. The only reason I would ever return to this park or this town would be if I lost everything, became an addict, and wanted to live with those who considered that high living. That's really the only notable thing about this place -- just how unimaginably bad it is!

Their mini golf course(s) are the best in Western Washington imo. The course is clean, very well maintained, fun, entertaining, and well designed. The prices are reasonable and I am always thankful that the owner makes the place affordable for all families. The arcade also has many cool games and can entertain the kids for hours. They also have bumper boats but we have never done them because it is never warm enough, in our opinion, to get wet from them. They have a little snack bar with decent pricing and portions. This is all around a great value for family oriented fun.
