He interrupted me about 8 times when I was telling him what was wrong & tried dismissing everything I had to say! Rushed me out of the room & didn't even make eye contact with me once or say hi how are you. Won't be going back! He did nothing. I flew in to make my appointment. When I went to the front desk, the receptionist was very curt. I was given the normal paperwork to fill out. I noticed there was a provision stating I would have to pay $100 penalty/charge if I missed an appointment. I did not agree to that provision. When I submitted it to the receptionist she noticed I stated I did not agree to it and immediately became belligerent and told me I had to agree to that provision. I told her I didn't agree because I didn't want to be responsible if my flight canceled and I could not make it in time. She rudely said they would not see me that day unless I agreed to the provision. I explained I had flown in for the appointment and asked if they would just see me that day since I was there. I further explained if a follow-up was needed, I would find another doctor and the provision would be moot. She excused herself to confer with the Dr. and came back and shoved the papers at me and told me to agree to the provision or go somewhere else. I went somewhere else. A Dr.'s office that insist on penalty provisions should tell us before we schedule an appointment. Such provisions are not standard. Second, staff should be more courteous. Dr. Lin's bedside manner is gruff and unfriendly. He does whatever exam he does without warning if it may be discomforting or aggressive and when finds something he then continue to hold the postion even if you warn and say this is extremely discomforting. I would think when you say your discomfort or in pain someone would respond by stoping or apologizeing. I dont recommend him. He cares more about his bottom line then yours. read more

I have NEVER been disrespected by a doctor's office staff like today. I called into Dr. John C. Lin's Sunrise Urology office today to speak to someone about a bill that I received. Previously, on 09-26-2016 I spoke to Octavia about a bill that I received. I was told by Octavia that the bill should be waived because they did not have my correct contact info to reach out to me and confirm my appointment. Octavia said she would submit my bill to someone and get back to me. Eight days passed and I never received a call or letter from Sunrise Urology so I decided to call them to see what the status was. On 10-04-2016 I spoke to Olympia and asked her what the status on this bill was. She said she would call Octavia, who was not currently in the office, and ask her since she was the one who dealt with me before. Olympia said she would call me right back. I never received a call back. That brings us to today 10-10-2016 when I called in and spoke to Octavia. I asked Octavia what the status was on my bill that she said should get waived and she said she needed to place me on a brief hold. Without telling me she transferred me to the someone else. I explained to that other person what was going on and she quickly cut me off and said that the bill will not be waived and that I need to be more responsible like most patients are and keep track of my appointments even if they are scheduled six months in advance. I said hold on there is no need to disrespect me because I am not being rude I am just trying to understand the conflicting stories I have been getting from her office. I explained to her that my wife works at a doctor's office so I know the rude people they have to deal with and that is not what is going on here, I am just simply calling about my bill. She told me that the only way the bill will get waived is if I make another appointment to see Dr. Lin. I explained to her that I am in between jobs and at the moment do not have insurance. She said well then I can't help you. So I ask her who else can talk to so maybe they can help me. She said that would be Dr. Lin but he is busy with patients and can not come to the phone. I asked what her name was and she said Irma. I said I can wait it'll only take a couple minutes then Irma says goodbye and hangs up on me. So I call back and my call gets automatically forwarded three times and not picked up, to Irma's voicemail. I call a forth time and Octavia picks up the phone. I say Octavia please do not transfer me to Irma I need to speak with Dr. Lin about what is going on. Octavia says okay no problem then transferred me to Irma again. At this point I figured out that this office is playing a game at my expense. Irma picks up and says I already told you that I can't help you. I asked does Dr. Lin know you speak to his patients this way? And she said yes he's right next to me. I said so he if he is next to you can I please speak to him and she said no he is with a patient. So I said so you're talking to me like this in front of him and a patient? She did not respond so I tried to get an email or voicemail for him. Irma kept cutting me off did not allow me to speak so I said I will come to the office and speak to Dr. Lin in person. Irma said I better not go over there and threatened to call the Police. I said I just want to speak to Dr. Lin it doesn't have to get to that I am not going over there to cause a scene.So I drive over to Sunrise Urology, which is a forty minute drive from where I live. I get there and Octavia was at the front desk. I said I need to speak with Dr. Lin please. She said okay no problem just have a seat and he'll be with you in a few minutes. So I had a seat and waited for a few minutes. Octavia then called me back to the front desk and said he is very busy with patients and can't see me. I said Octavia I don't mind waiting longer and if he could see me just for a couple minutes in between patients or even before he leaves for lunch I would really appreciate it. She said okay just give him about fifteen minutes then. I said okay not a problem. So about two minutes pass and a different woman calls me up to the front desk window. She said I already told you that Dr. Lin is too busy to speak to you and that we can no longer help you with this matter. I tried to explain that I have the right as a patient to have a word with my doctor especially after today's experience. Irma said why are you yelling at me, as if she was trying to sell herself as the victim. I said I am not yelling at all what are you talking about. The whole time I was calm and collected and talked very respectful.Irma then told me we called the Police so you know and I told Dr. Lin what was going on, he doesn't want to see you or speak to you. The Police came and Sunrise Urology trespassed me from their office. I could not believe what just happened and how this staff just treated me. DR. LIN PLEASE REVIEW YOUR CALLS AND CAMERAS SO YOU CAN SEE HOW POORLY I WAS TREATED TODAY. read more

Dr. was a little strange. Referred to my urethra as a "pee-pee hole". Very unprofessional! Office staff was extremely rude. Called to cancel my future appointment and was hung up on. Office is considered small so they will make you pay before your appointment or you will not be seen. They will say they called your insurance to get up to date billing info but when I called my insurance they had no records of them calling. Therefore Sunrise Urology was over charging me. Horrible experience only went to them for there open availability. read more

Very disappointing!!! My husband went in with very serious concerns only to have Dr Lin make him feel like everything was in his head. He didn't order any blood work, just sent him out the door making him feel even worse than before he walked in. Decided to go to family Dr for same symptoms and without question our family Dr ordered blood work right away and found out he had seriously low testosterone. I guess we should have gone to family Dr first instead of trusting in a "specialist". Not to mention that because of the "diagnosis" our insurance wouldn't cover it. Was referred to this office by my PCP for kidney stones. I was only experiencing minor discomfort. I was informed I needed surgery to remove a stone and a stent placed. Surgery was scheduled for a couple of weeks out. The day of the outpatient surgery my husband called the surgery center once and Sunrise Urology twice during normal business hours as I began experiencing extreme pain, flushed face, hot and cold flashes, fever and nausea almost immediately upon returning home after surgery. I finally got a return phone call from Dr. Lin 22 hours later. I have a very high pain tolerance normally. I was still in extreme pain and was told "sometimes that happens" and given a prescription for bladder spasms. That did not help. No follow up after that. I then returned to the office a week later to have the stent removed. I voiced concerns to the assistant at that time about pain due to what I had experienced before. I was told this should be "easy" and maybe a little pinch is what most people experience. The removal was rather painful and Dr. Lin stated I might feel a "little cramping over the next 48 hours." He also invited me to visit his church for Easter while I was still undressed and he was holding the stent he had just removed. I left the office feeling uncomfortable both physically and emotionally. I took some Motrin as soon as I got home but within an hour of the removal the pain was so intense I could barely breathe. I felt as if someone had hit me in the back with a baseball bat. I then took the prescription Dr. Lin had given me after the initial surgery and it had no effect on the pain level. I again started with chills, hot flashes and throwing up. I called my husband to come home from work early and he took me to the ER. They were able to do an IV to get the pain and nausea under control. The ER also gave me a stronger pain pill as the doctor there said that what Dr. Lin had given me "might as well have been Chiclets." Although I realize that not everyone has the same experience, the lack of compassion and follow up from this office is not acceptable to me. (I still don't have the biopsy results as of this posting 9 days post op.) I will not be returning for any additional visits. I called again for biopsy results at the three week point and were told they were still waiting on them. Two + years later and I never did receive them. read more

Beware! My husband had to cancel an appointment via voicemail (because it was the weekend) and Sunrise Urology still tried to charge a 100.00 fee. I refused to pay this, and they reported it to the credit bureau!!! And not only on my husbands credit, but mine as well...I don't even know if that is legal?!?!? Super rude staff! read more

Dr Lin is very good. He's knowledgeable and thorough. He has a way of putting you at ease in an otherwise uncomfortable situation. I'd recommend him to my patients and friends. read more

Had my vasectomy done here by dr. Lin and couldn't be more impressed. Heard horror stories from a lot of people about how bad theirs was or how much it hurt at other doctors and mine couldn't be more different. I searched yelp and google reviews before settling on dr. Lin and I couldn't have made a better choice. His staff was super nice and his office is super clean. He is speaks to you like he cares and makes you feel very comfortable about what is about to happen. After the initial consultation, I was able to schedule the procedure within two weeks. The day of I was nervous (as ever guy is) and they made me feel super comfortable. The whole procedure took 7 minutes and the only discomfort was the Novocain shot to numb the area. He and his assistant talked to me the entire time about my career which distracted me from what was taking place. Before i knew it, it was all over and he gave me a pretty hilarious t-shirt which lightened the mood. I couldn't be more pleased with him and would highly recommend him to anyone! read more

I started having the telltale signs of kidney stones so I set up a new patient appointment on a Thursday and got an appointment on a Monday. I was told to get a CT on Friday and bring the CD the appointment. I got to the appointment 10 minutes early and filled out a mountain of paperwork. When Dr. Lin came into the room I tried to give him the disk he refused as I didn't have the accompanying CT report. He wouldn't even look at the CD with the CT scan since he isn't qualified to read the actual CT. If he needed the report in addition to the CD, his staff should have told me I needed the report as well prior to my appointment. Also, I had the CT done at SimonMed and he said he would never refer someone there and that they are the worst imaging company and that they are so lazy. I asked if we could have the report faxed and he said he didn't trust them to fax it correctly. That I must pick it up and bring it back to my next appointment. At this point, he asked what I was there for and I told him I am fairly sure I have kidney stones, but wasn't feeling the excruciating pain yet. He confirmed blood in the urine and said that it was unlikely to be kidney stones since I wasn't having pain, but couldn't say for sure since he didn't have the CT report. He then proceeded to tell me it could likely be cancer or something more insidious. He did my check up and everything else was normal. After I left I went directly to SimonMed, picked up the report, and brought it right back to the office. The report actually showed that I had several stones in the kidney. When I brought the report back (literally 15 minutes later), I expressed my unhappiness at the situation. One of the ladies at the front then said it didn't really matter that I didn't have the report since it wasn't kidney stone, which I responded that it was kidney stones per the report. Dr. Lin may be knowledgeable (I don't know), but what I do know is that his bedside manner is horrible. read more

FAILED VASECTOMY-Big mistake from the beginning! The staff was unable to verify my benefits properly and made us pay $ upfront, after numerous calls to them and the insurance they FINALLY acknowledged that I was correct. Ok so we move onto the 'consultation'. The Dr. speaks in terms that are completely inappropriate, such as 'balls' etc.. Some people may think this is funny or whatever, but I prefer doctors to speak in appropriate medical terminology. Well we've made it this far-so we go forward with procedure- 6 months after procedure, two trips to the lab- learned it failed! Dr. says too bad so sad you signed a waiver that states the procedure is ONLY 99.5 % effective! Although he assured us in the consultation that he performs ALL 3 methods, cutting, clamping burning blah blah blah, essentially there is no way for it NOT to work,...except for that lil waiver that they have you sign which holds them harmless for your botched procedure which could result in a CHILD! So back to square one. read more
