Terrible experience. I met with Dr. Lythgoe and discussed two treatment options. He asked me to follow up once I decided which route I wanted to take. A couple of weeks later, I called and left a message for the medical assistant with my decision. I never received a call back. I followed up again about a week later, spoke directly with the medical assistant, and was told she would get back to me--again, no response. I called a third time and had the same outcome: no follow-up. On my fourth call, I finally reached someone, only to be told I would need to come back in and discuss my options with the doctor again--essentially starting over from the beginning. This lack of communication and follow-through is extremely frustrating and a poor reflection of patient care. read more

Hate to add another negative review, but my experience here has not been great. I was double-charged for my copay during my visit and every attempt I've made to speak to someone to correct the imbalance was met with a phone message that was never returned. If you've gone here, check your EOBs to make sure you weren't overcharged as well, as they seem to think that if they dodge your calls long enough they get to keep your money! read more

Review: East Valley Urology -- strongly negative I had a very poor experience with East Valley Urology. Front office staff: Arrogant, rude, confrontational, argumentative, and provided consistently poor patient service. Scheduling: Extremely slow and unresponsive. I had to call four times to schedule a procedure; their scheduling team took weeks to return calls, if they called at all. Dr. Mehan: While he appears confident, his actions did not match his words. He told me I was 100% clear of prostate cancer, but when symptoms persisted his NP ordered an MRI and the radiologist diagnosed prostate cancer. He has also made misleading entries in my records and failed to place necessary medical orders while I was in the hospital. Clinical attitude: Dr. Mehan openly boasts about nonclinical activities (claims like "I'm the godfather of aquablation") and seems disengaged from thorough clinical care. Recommendation: Based on my experience, I do not recommend Dr. Mehan or East Valley Urology. Note: This review reflects my personal experience. read more

I spent over 30 minutes on the phone, mostly on hold with East Valley Urology today (10/20/2025). The lady who answered the phone said, "Please hold" and was gone. 30 minutes went by & I called again. As soon as the lady answered I hollered that I was a Doctor (I'm retired) and I WAS a patient first of Dr. Mehan and then moved over to Dr. Barry Gordon (he was in individual private practice on Guadalupe Rd & Greenfield here in Mesa, Arizona in those days). She thanked me and siad, "Please hold," and I listened to their music for far too long, as I indicated above. *********My history with urologists here is that I went to Dr. Gordon after I left Mehan because Mehan and an assistant who saw me were not masked during Covid (UNACCEPTABLE). ***********Now, sadly, they've absorbed Dr. Gordon. I was told I would need to talk to Melanie, the office manager to return to Dr. Gordon since their records on me date back to the time when Dr. Gordon was on his own and since I was Dr. Mehan's patient before they absorbed Dr. Gordon, I would need permission of the office manager who was not in when I called. Anyway, this practice is way understaffed if they keep people on hold for 30 minutes after quickly saying, "please hold!" ****************THANK GOOD LUCK AND MY SERVICE IN THE AIR FORCE I CAN MAKE 65 MILE ROUND TRIP FROM EAST MESA TO NORTH CENTRAL PHOENIX TO USE THE V.A. Dr. Mehan is great, but the complete lack of follow up is extremely irritating. It's been a week and I still have not been contacted to schedule surgery. This is the second time the office has dropped the ball. I really like Dr. Mehan so I'm going to continue, for now, to put up with the lack of customer service. Follow up: Time to take my health care to someone who cares. I'm tired of feeling like a number with no genuine concern for my well being. The staff lacks customer service, there's little to no communication, no call backs after leaving messages, and they're rude on the phone. I've never not been greeted walking into a doctor's office. That was my first sign that this place was off, outside of asking me to arrive at 1pm without mentioning that they'll be closed at that time and will actually have me checked in 35min later. AHCCCS sends me to some seriously terrible doctor's offices, but this one takes the cake for the worst staff experience and the dirtiest exam room, with the exception of the actual doctor, whom I added the second star for. Maybe think about re-staffing your entire office..? I genuinely couldn't tell if everyone there just doesn't like their job or if they're deliberately rude as a unit, but this was a first for me. read more

If you are having a Urology problem, this is one place to stay away from! I had made an appointment to see a highly recommended physician, Dr. Pfeiffer. I went to my appt, paid my insurance copay only to have the doctor come in and tell me he didn't do that procedure. So... they couldn't have a secretary or an MA tell me that, rather than keep me waiting and charge me? He told me a colleague of his Dr. J. Matt Williams in the same office was very good at it, and he could get me an appt "quicker". Well quick for this place was a month later, but I took it anyway. The day before, they called to confirm. The day of the appt. there was a call from them while I was sleeping. NO MESSAGE LEFT. Several hours later, I leave for this 40 mile each way drive. I soon realized that traffic would hold me up and I would be 10-15 minutes late. I pulled over and called. As usual, no answer on to voice mail. I left a message explaining and asked to be called back, so if it wasn't OK, I could turn around and skip the long drive. Of course, no return call! About 45 minutes later I showed up 15 minutes late. The office is empty except for two receptionists. I go to check in. 1 is on the phone, the other busy. Finally, 1 asks my name and birthday. I give it to her. Guess what? "Oh the Dr isn't here. He had to do surgery today." I said, "so no one could call me, or return the call I made 45 minutes ago? " "OH, someone called this morning." "True, but no message was left" "Oh, sorry, but we can reschedule you. He is only here 1 day/week". "yeah, no thanks". So, I waited to get the first appt, only to find the recommended Dr. doesn't do it. Gee, maybe the staff should have told me that when on the phone. Then I wait a month to get an appointment with the next guy. Then instead of saving a 40 mile drive each way, they call but leave no message, or return a call made on the way. The appt has to be rescheduled again because he is only there 1 day/week. Please. I don't think I want to make that drive again and chance that he won't be there again. The office is poorly run, the staff could care less about the patient, they never answer the phone, and the doctor works 1 day/week in the office. Save yourself a drive and a lot of time. Go somewhere where things are done to make it easier for the patient.. or at least not harder. read more

I have left three voicemails and two messages with the front desk to have the surgery scheduler call me back for a procedure and it's been a month now. Do not waste your time with this practice. They discriminate against AHCCCS patients. NONE of the procedures described on this webpage were offered to me for my dysuria and incontinence. ANGELICA is a horrible employee who denied me service because I carried AHCCCS insurance and could not afford the co pay! AHCCCS rules indicate clearly NO AHCCCS patient may be denied medical services if they are unable to afford the co pays due to financial hardship. I was able to be seen on the day she denied, ONLY because I insisted on talking to Dr. Wadwha about this. He denied wrongdoing by his staff member, indicating that he was afraid to adress Angelica's conduct out of fear she would sue him due to her tenure with the company. Their smug manager, Melony Fraere-Jacquez harassed me in a 6 paragraph email correspondence when she was apprised I filed a formal grievance with my insurance. She made threats to me over the phone and sent an email harshly reprimanding me for this. I escalated my concerns about her reprehensible conduct and Dr. Wadwha discharged me instead of doing the right thing and having a team meeting advising personnel that such discrimination against AHCCCS patients is not allowed! I have lost confidence in this medical practice. RUN FROM EAST VALLEY UROLOGY LIKE THE PLAGUE. THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN TREATING AHCCCS PATIENTS WITH INTEGRITY! read more

Dr Meham did an emergency kidney stone removal at the hospital and I needed to follow up with him within two weeks according to discharge instructions. I called the office and spoke to an Irma who must not like her job. She was rude and said the doctor couldn't see me for a month and a half to remove my stent!! She acted as if it was a bother to get seen even then. her tone was very mean. I asked if I could see a different associate to get in sooner. Her answer was "he put it in. He has to take it out. I chose this office because of good reviews. I have a medical background and take care of my father. The office staff is very rude in person and on the phone. The bedside manner of Dr Wadhwa was less than professional. When I asked to switch to another provider I was rudely told the extensive process. I was also told that my medical background didn't count so I shouldn't comment on it. My dad just had CHF due to not being able to pee. What they did not say is that the doctor is only available 4 days a week in Queen Creek and is only in Mesa 1 day a week and has a 2 month waiting list to be seen in Mesa. They lie to you to bring you in and argue with you about their complete lack of honesty. I was recommended to this office in March by my oncologist because of something that showed up in my bladder from my quarterly PET scan. It took a month, April, to get an appt and I ended up seeing the PA, Chris, who was very nice and basically the visit was to go over my medical history. I was told to come back, and see the Dr. So they could do a scope and look into my bladder. An appointment, May 28, scheduled a month later because they are so busy. On my appointment day, the waiting room was so full, I had to wait in my car. The front desk staff was so incredibly rude to not only myself but other patients waiting. When it was my turn, a super snarky MA came to the car, barked instructions and brought me inside. Dr. Mehan performed the procedure and verbally indicated there was a cause for concern and he wanted to do a biopsy. He assured me it was going to be ok and he would schedule the biopsy within 2 weeks and it would be a quick outpatient surgery under anesthesia since its so painful. I got dressed and went home and waited for the call.....on AUGUST 27, I got a voicemail, from someone in the office, telling me to call back, and ask for "a", because "b" just found the rotating surgery list from May and if I still WANTED the surgery they could probably schedule it..... This physician needs to decide if his reputation and practice is really worth having a medical spa and vasectomy turnstile or if he wants to focus on serious medicine. Kitschy Tshirts and facial creams does not a respected urologist make. In the mean time, me and my cancer filled bladder will find a physician who cares about the patients and not residual income. read more

This was hands down the best experience, not only in a doctors office but, it was also the best experience I have had in any medical setting. I went in for a vasectomy. Dr. Mehan came in and was in a great mood, calming my slight nervousness, and after greetings, he immediately followed it up with "what kind of music do you listen to?", while pulling out his phone to change the music. This was awesome! The procedure was less than 30 minutes on the table and was easily less painful than having my penis pierced. Take my word on that one and don't get your penis pierced. He was professional but somehow managed to be just "one of the guys" at the same time. His staff was also amazing and if I needed another reason to visit a urologist, you can be sure I'm coming back here to this practice. read more

What can you say about a physician who saved your life? Thank God I found Dr Mehan and this wonderful medical practice after receiving incompetent care from another doctor whose substandard treatment put me in the emergency room 4 times in one month! Dr. Mehan is a caring professional who takes his time with each patient and shows a sincere interest in the patient's health. Because of him, I avoided an unnecessary surgery and had a previously undiscovered cancer diagnosed. He's my hero. His staff, especially PA Chris, are also terrific. Very competent and possessing a great sense of humor, they provide the kind of care that eases anxiety and makes you feel welcome. I read a review that complained about wait times. Don't give them any value. I would rather be kept waiting a few minutes past my appointment time knowing that the doctor is taking the necessary time with the patient ahead of me than to be rushed through the process on a stop watch. I can't emphasize enough that East Valley Urology is the place you want to be if you need a Urologist or surgeon. I'd give 10 stars if I could! Thank you, Dr. Mehan and Chris. I have seen Dr Wadwha for 6+ years and he and his staff are exceptional. Dr. W is very caring and always makes you feel you deserve to be there. Even if you are on Medicare. I fist met him in the hospital and after talking with him for only 5 minutes I knew I wanted to have him be my Doctor. He is very thorough, kind and never gives up. His staff at both offices (Mesa and Queen Creek ) are also very caring . If there is a problem it is taken care of as quickly as possible. I don't like seeing negative reviews of East Valley Urology and I just consider the source. They have to be consistent complainers. read more

I was visiting Mesa this winter and my skin was dry and feeling rough from a long cold Canadian winter. I wouldn't stop complaining about my dry cheeks and tired looking face. My friend suggested I visit EVU for a Hydrafacial. It was amazing!!! What's the point of having the first appointment of the day if the doctor doesn't bother to show up? Had an 8:00 with Dr. Mehan in the Queen Creek office and the receptionist had no idea where he was or how long before he'd arrive. The appointment was purposely moved to this location because waiting for the Mesa office would have been 3 weeks further out. Apparently it's back to square 1. Not the best way to start out - doctors are not the only people who have jobs and deadlines. The staff couldn't figure out how to credit the co-pay which they immediately took - perhaps they need to make sure the appointments are actually performed before they take the fee. I'll be finding a new doctor and a new facility. read more

I've heard that a vasectomy "puts you out of commission" for seven days orLike Like Painless vasectomy. Painless. Right now I'm sitting on my couch (becoming pretty good friends with a frozen bag of peas) thinking about how smoothly everything went at EVU today. I was super nervous about having needles and sharp objects in that neck of the woods but I had no pain. The EVU staff was friendly and persistent with my insurance company (who was dragging their feeI was asked to give a music preference and we listened to good music the whole time. Dr Mehan uses a needle-less injection procedure which kinda felt like elastic snapping against my skin. That was the extent of the "pain". Dr Mehan and I talked about movies and music throughout the procedure. It's been months and I'm still happy with the procedure! read more

I saw Dr. Wahdwa. He was very thorough and very nice and helpful. He tells it like it is and may be a little harsh but that's what I want in a dr. He was great and I am glad to have found him. I did have to wait for him as he had a surgery the day of my appoinment but after meeting him and going over my issues, he was worth the wait. My only negative about this clinic is that some of the front office staff seems a little overly-busy and does tend to make appointment mistakes and there is a ton of paperwork to fill out at your very first appointment and most of it is very repetitive but once you get that out of the way, it's ok. read more

Excellent medical staff, the latest technology, and top notch care describe this office and medspa. I would give them 6 stars if possible! Have had several medspa procedures and just keep going back! Having been all over the Valley, this office simply has better results at better prices. I've gone to Alex for botox, a chemical peel, CoolSculpt, nutritional consultations to address hormonal issues and high cholesterol, and just yesterday, the HydraFacial. It was fantastic! I've done the Hydrafacial at least 5 times before, but the new machine they use has the best results. They used a special anti-aging serum and my skin was glowing! Hard to give only 2 stars since I like the staff and they have treated my family so great. I was just really disappointed with the cool sculpting my husband purchased for my birthday. I followed the instructions and advice but had little to no changes visible. On first follow up it was suggested I buy 2 more or visit the nutritionist which I chose not to do as I have that available free through my work and why would I spend more money? . This center has been nothing but a series of missteps regarding their service and communication to me. During my first appointment I waited in the exam room for 45 mins before an associate tells me the doctor was delayed with a surgery. I get that, so I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Next, I get a call the doctor wants me to have a 4k blood test done and I was asked if I could come in the day before my next scheduled visit to give blood because the blood test had a 24 hour turnaround time and if I couldn't make it, they'd have to re-schedule my appointment because the results wouldn't be back yet. I accommodated their request. When I show up for my appointment the next day, they said the technician was wrong, it's a 7 day turnaround time for the blood test result!! So no blood test results but Dr. Wadawha informs me he would have recommended a biopsy anyway, with or without the test???!!! Excuse me, but why have the blood test at all then?? And I'm still waiting on results some 3 weeks later!!! Last, I was told a prescription was called into my pharmacy for medication associated with the biopsy. Shocker, when I went to pick it up, the pharmacy had no record of it being called in. This place is a joke and I'm supposed to trust them with a surgical procedure?? No thanks. read more

I had frequent UTI's as well as incontinence that I have been dealing with for years. I met with Dr Wadhwa on March 1st and was amazed when he entered the room and had actually reviewed my information before hand. He asked me some additional questions and told me he felt there was a solution to my issues. For the next two weeks Dr Wadhwa did several tests to determine if the interstim would be a good fit for me. The results showed I was a good candidate and he was able to schedule the procedure on March 24th. He did this to accommodate my travel plans. What a guy! All went well and two days after the surgery my incontinence was resolved. I know many people are embarrassed to discuss such issues but Dr Wadhwa puts you right at ease. I am so grateful to him. The entire staff at EVU Center has been wonderful. If you are looking for a urologist I would highly recommend them. read more

Dr.Mehan was awesome. I got my visectomy done here and it was quick easy and pain free. I was nervous going into it but the staff and Dr. Mehan put me at ease. I cannot day enough about the care, concern, and compassion that Chris Morris provided me during my visit. The entire office staff was welcoming from the moment I walked in till the moment I left. The office is beautiful, clean, and professional...a welcoming waiting room. I waited a very little time before being called back to be seen. Once I was in the room, which has great interactive educational materials to review while waiting, Chris was entering just a few minutes later. He was informative and listened to all my questions and was incredibly knowledgeable about my issue, even finding possible resolutions to issues I was not there for.
