Despite the crowds, the bigger children were all very respectful of our little one while playing in the splash pad (our main reason for coming). The splash pad was great. Lots of features, all of them young toddler safe, and very clean. They have a schedule of running for an hour then shutting off for 15-minutes to help reduce water usage, which I appreciate during this time of drought. None of the children seemed to mind. Water is a bit chilly so after a bit we took a break for our daughter to warm up (much to her displeasure lol) in the playground area, which had a few different areas and was again clean and safe and age appropriate. My only complaint is the need for more bathrooms - besides that, a huge win! Will definitely be coming back.

The park is closed off for safety reasons but we take a picnic and camp out on the lawn at the neighboring Staybridge Suites to watch the action up close. It's a super fun way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities (for whatever reason, Glendale's fireworks always happen a day or two before July 4th). Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Glendale Riverwalk Project will be put on hold http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/real_deals/2015/04/175-million-development-planned-for-glendale.html?surround=etf&ana=e_article. Instead, a new retail and entertainment district called Glendale 180 will be developed on a 22 acre parcel between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Street, and Virginia Avenue and Cherry Creek. The city plans to break ground in the Fall of 2015 and officials hope to open for business in 2017. And this will mean that Creekside Park is going away. I'm torn. It's truly a shame to lose a nice, big park. But Glendale and its neighbors will be gaining job opportunities and new fun recreational activities. As it stands now, the design is thoughtfully planned with lots of open space, year-round landscaping, and meandering pathways that will create an inviting community gathering place. No office or residential space will be included in the new development, just shops, restaurants, and a cinema. And lots of parking. And relaxed open container laws! Apparently, Glendale used to be quite the hot spot back in the day so it's planning to get back to its partytime roots. Glendale 180 - see what they did there? I have so many great memories at Olympic Park that I couldn't possibly share them all here…read more There is lots of parking here and you can always tell when there are softball games or kids soccer practices because they will fill up. However, most of the time there is a lot more open spots to the left. I am currently in a softball league in which the games are held here at Olympic. The fields are always immaculate, but they are only used for games. If you want to have a practice there are other fields nearby. There are also sand volleyball courts behind the softball fields which are always nice to use and usually aren't packed. As this park is right next to the elementary school that I went to, I remember having several field days out on the large field. In the winter, I remember my family and I sledding down the snow filled hills and running back up to go again. There are so many things that you can do here. You can bring your dog to run around, have a nice quiet picnic or even have a birthday party. I seriously can't say enough good things about Olympic Park. The grass is so green and there is just something so special about this neighborhood park.

This time it looks like a remodel/expansion took place, as I noticed how big it's gotten when I was here for a quiet evening walk. I bet when the weather is nice, it is crowded all the time! I'd bring my kids here if they were still little. Looks very friendly, open, and accessible to everyone as I noted the stairs as well as ramps on my walk.

Four baseball fields anchor the sports side of things, and a sprawling open field beyond them gives you real room to breathe: kite flying, pickup soccer, or just wandering with no destination in mind. Even on a gray, overcast day, the green holds its color and the whole place feels alive. The space-themed playground is the centerpiece for younger visitors -- and honestly, for older kids too. It's genuinely fun, not just functional, with multiple play structures, accessible rubber surfacing underfoot, and swing options for toddlers and bigger kids alike. Scattered throughout the park are standing rocks engraved with planets and space facts -- a nice touch that adds a little wonder to a walk. Some of them are showing their age from years of Colorado weather, but the idea behind them is solid and still sparks curiosity. Three covered gazebos with charcoal grills are spread across the park, making spontaneous cookouts easy. It has great playground equipment with this foam like rubbery floor stuff under it to help cushion any severe falls. 2 different types of swings, those for little kids that are like a butt harness and those that are for bigger kids and even adults to swing on. The park has some great sheltered areas that include a table and some bbq's. In the spring, summer and fall is nearly always full of people playing football, soccer and baseball. It's got a long paved walking trail that goes around the entire park. This trail is about a mile all the way around the last time I walked it. I will have to walk it again and update this post. Not like I don't walk it all the time, I just forget how long it is:) Ample parking as well. Great place to get out and get some sun if you're in the area.

You have access to either side of the park entrance off the main road. There is a crosswalk‍‍ and a beg button to safely cross. Watch out for coyotes in the area too. There are two porta potty clearly marked and camouflaged with the environment. SMART! I walked a few trails and blissfully absorbed the sounds of nature surrounding me. I like the ponds, the native wildlife and natural earth tone paths. One thing for sure is if you are out here for a period of time I would take some kind of bug spray. The mosquitoes were horrible. I also liked the sporadically places rocks, giant tree log, tree trunks and memorial benches place in this park. A soothing, gentle and relaxing atmosphere and area. I'll be back to explore more!
