They quoted me a price to create and remake flower beds along both sides of the lawn and around our deck in back and cleaning up front yard. We decided before they started work to just do the sides and back, not around the deck. Day of they didn't have the workers they needed because someone left, and they worked as well as they could with the limited labor, but at the end of the day they left holes in my yard, patches of empty lawn that they didn't seed over or the one spot they did seed over they used very little low quality seed and it didn't germinate well. They also made mulch volcanos so tall (over 8 inches) that my kids asked why there were huge piles of dirt in our yard now. And they trimmed our 10 hydrangeas very poorly: two they didn't notice and forgot to trim, three they cut so low (8-12 inches) that it almost killed them and they are brown and haven't made any flowers, and the other three cut in a way that they didn't produce more than 1-2 flowers this year even though they have been covered in flowers every other year before this. They promised that going with me to get flowers that fit was their specialty, and this is why I decided to use them. But when we got to the flower store they got impatient after we had the staff help us pick a few things out. They were not experts in deciding which flowers should go where at all. They also did not water the plants after planting. I had to spend 5 hours outside redoing everything they did, reseeding the brown patches in the lawn, weeding weeds they didn't get, planting things they didn't plant. They charged me $100 more than quoted on the final bill, even though they did less work than quoted, particularly because of the labor issues they had preventing them from completing weeding and seeding and watering, but also because we had decided to only do half of the flower beds. They got red chalk on my deck boards which took a professional powerwasher hours to remove (and still you can see a little marking). They ran over the light at the end of my driveway (I have on video that they were the only people entering or leaving the driveway that day, and I had just had a different landscaper install a new light days before that they had run over so I know the light was good at that time). Then when I complained they said they only did the flower picking with me as a favor and they normally don't do that (totally different than marketed--this promise that they could help me pick the right flowers is the main reason I used them), they insisted they didn't run over the light (I ended up paying an electrician several hundred dollars to make it safe) and got mad at me and said they never should have done the service for me and I should just be grateful for what they did. They said they did more work than quoted because of extra travel time, but I had no way of knowing that they traveled out of their way when they came to me instead of planning travel when they had other clients in my direction, and they in fact did less gardening work than what was quoted on the email and charged me more than what they originally quoted. I felt very upset that they were so indignant after I complained, saying they do perfect work, they are the best in the business and everyone waits months for his work so I should just be grateful and stop complaining about the work.
