Not my favorite customer service experience, but they do get the job done. I came in for a certified smog check after purchasing an online appointment at half the price. When I arrived, I was initially quoted the full price until I mentioned the online payment. He then asked for my DMV documentation, which I forgot to bring, and charged an additional $5 to manually input my information. I paid and waited, only to find out that my car didn't pass. Unfortunately, the way this was communicated made me feel dumb rather than informed or helped. Overall, the experience felt transactional and uncomfortable. I'd only come back here if I truly had no other option. read more

Sunrise Auto Service - Auto Repair Near Me - San Francisco, California

I called ahead, and the owner scheduled a convenient time for my oil change. Despite being busy upon my arrival, he managed to fit me in. Since I had a lunch meeting nearby, it worked out perfectly. I left for my appointment and returned to find the oil change completed. The cost was approximately $75.00, and it was for a full synthetic oil change. read more

Sunrise Auto Service - Auto Repair Near Me - San Francisco, California

Sunrise is fast... They are honest...they are professional...anyone who has a problem with them just can't be pleased...

Way overpriced than other auto service. If it wasn't a little bit closer to us and my dad insisting going here, I would have never gone. Good workers but the owner/cashier has the worst attitude. Won't come back for a smog check or for any services at all. read more

On March 15th, I took my Saturn to Firestone (as I had been doing for over 2 or 3 years) because I was having a problem with my coolant; they had it on the rack for over 3 1/2 hrs and wasn't able to pinpoint the problem, then they gave me an estimate (after charging $80 for the diagnostic) of $1200 and it would take a week to find and repair the problem. When I told my cousin about this, he told me to meet him at Sunrise where he spoke to Eric & John. They were able to find EXACTLY where the problem was within an hour!!! Eric said they could have it repaired in about a day or two and the cost was going to be $670!!!! Eric & John are the best!!!! I'm going to take my car to them from now on and I recommend them to everybody for service :-) read more

These guys really know how to deliver service, I went there to get a tire and oil and transmission fluid change, 1st their tires are really cheap and decent quality and when they do their work they check everything and if they find something that need to be fixed they give you a quote but they don't oversell you, they found that the brake disc pads on one side of my car needed to be changed but the other side was fine they gave me a quote to fix that issue, it was cheap, but 90% of auto service places would automatically tell you should change both sides whether they need it or not, that says a lot about their honesty, and when they did the oil change they noticed an engine seal that was leaking, they took care of that, again cheap and easy. You go there you talk with Mr. Liu he'll tell what you need straight up, no BS. read more

The owner is rude and arrogant. The services they provide is not done by him but his employees. The employee just doing because they get paid for working. However the owner charge me higher price then it should be. He will give the initial price but raise it up when I pick up the car after service. The price is never the same and always charge me more than other customer. read more

Owner rude and ignorant guy. Shit this guy no good with pr. Price is too high and not honest.

Go find yourself a honest mechanic if you value your life. We have been a customer of this shop since they first opened. Eric was honest and helpful the first couple of years, but customer service started going downhill when he began to have more customers. Recently we had him serviced the brakes on our vehicle. The technician cut corners on the job. He hard slapped the brakes in, NEVER serviced the rotor, NEVER applied any lubricants, NEVER test drive the vehicle then gave it back to us. While driving the car one sunny day, without any signs or warnings. The brakes over heated to the point that it completely FAILED(as if there weren't any brakes!!) Eventually I had to hit a post to stop the car. My car suffered major damaged because of the unforeseen brake failure. Thank god, no injuries. I took my vehicle to another honest and competent shop for inspection after the accident. The shop owner pointed out the faulty brake job Sunrise auto did. Lessons learned, you get what you paid for. Use your judgement when choosing a mechanic shop, it's not worth the savings of several hundred dollars a year. A bad mechanic can cause you headache, trouble.. and even your life. read more

My mother-in-law made the mistake of coming here for a smog check. She brought her car in and the owner said they needed to let it cool down first for an hour. It didn't pass and they turned to trying to seller her repairs that would fix it. She was pretty skeptical so she took it to her dealer. They said there was absolutely nothing to repair and that doing a smog check after leaving the car cold for an hour is a scammy trick places like this use get car owners fail so they can sell them repairs. After calling them on this, they said they could retest it for her, but they'd of course have to charge her for another test. She took it to another smog check-only place and passed with flying colors. read more

Minus 2 stars for this place 4,000 miles ago, I asked them to replace my timing belt, so that I don't have issues like the head gasket blowing from a snapped belt. I got the car back with a slight white tailpipe smoke, and now only able to do 20mpg highway. Going back the owner gave me snotty attitude about how this is normal so I left since the car was driving after all, and we only put some 4,000 miles per year on the car Then 4,200k miles after that, I went for an oil change, and asked to have the car WELL Inspected and make sure it's safe, as I'm about to take a Long trip into the country. They did a $25 oil change, no inspection, and told me to replace my tires. 2 days later, promptly at 4,400k miles after the timing belt job, my car went clack, clack, clack ... super classic symptom of bad timing belt job. NO heating warning, no nothing, just clack clack each time I pressed the gas, and then ... the ultimate, huge loss of power and a call to AAA. I was out in the sunflower fields by the Woodland, CA area at the time, at 11pm on a Sunday night. I had to leave my car in Woodland for 2 weeks while we waited for a lower mileage engine of my car model/year/make to become available, because my engine was now not worth the weight in metal anymore. The Woodland mechs are great, good communicators, very detailed and caring business. A bad timing belt job can cause your engine head to crack folks. This is the second car that I've owned for which this happened. With the new (used) engine, my car is now doing 32mpg as it should and always did before I asked them to replace the timing belt!!!!! So today I went back to Sunrise to ask about warranty on their work, and explained what happened. The owner Eric was so darn arrogant again and full of it about how a car can be good one day, and sick the next, and none of this could possibly be their fault ... and the warranty is, 4,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first, and your timing belt was done almost a year ago ... on and on about how righteous he is, and how stupid I am, and how I cannot possibly know anything about cars. Now I only need to have this translated in Cantonese and posted in the local newspapers ...! BAD BUSINESS sense ... Bad arrogant owner Go get what you pay for at this place. read more

Zero stars for customer service. Incredibly rude and charges up the ass for everything. Bunch of scammers I hope this place lose its business. I would never ever go back unless their job was so bad, I have to bring it in again to redo their service. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

This place is horrible.... They're all so rude... Came here to patch up my tire, but it couldn't be repaired since it was the outside of the tire that was broken, so I pretty much paid them to change it into my spare tire..... And then, while they were checking my mileage they left a black slash of dirt across my seat, didn't say anything, and told me I could leave. I ended up telling them to clean it of course, but honestly.... If you can't even run an honest business, I feel like you shouldn't even have one... Never coming back again... They also took FOREVER just to do it, and the majority of the people were just standing around and smoking.... read more

My car had fuel pressure regulator problem, they tried to fix it three times but still failed to fix it. They replaced the high pressure fuel sensor and fuel pump. Yesterday my car got fixed in another shop finally and the staff in that shop told me that the high pressure fuel sensor was not a new one. I highly recommend any shop in the bay over this junk shop. In addition, I hope some organization invest ate the business practices of this auto shop. read more

We came in for a small repair. Language is a bit of an issue but we were able to communicate and get it done.

Terrible service, not only was I charged $50 for an oil change even though it was a $30 on the price sign, but they didn't even start performing the oil change until I came back 25 minutes and asked them how much longer it was going to take. If you are looking for a place for a cheap oil change or car maintenance don't come here. read more

Customer service is horrible (2800 San Bruno Ave, San Francisco). I bought tires online and have them install/balance for me. Also 4 wheel alignment. They broke my wheel lock and called me if I have the code for a replacement. Come on, are you going to tell me installing 3 new tires while I drive on one old tire? I told them to break the lock and give me a original lock while I order another set. When I drive on the freeway around 60 mph or so, steering vibrates. I though it will be a tire issue since I just have the job done not too log ago. So I called the tire company manufacture due to I purchase the tires online. They told me to bring to a service center that will check up on it. The service center said there are no issue with the tire but the service center told me that the wheels (all 4) were not balance properly so steering were horrible. Don't recommend this shop at all... Scammers and should have shop close down... read more

I'm not sure how others here are rating Sun Rise Auto Service location in the San Bruno Avenue near woolsey. The car was brought in for a Smog Check Inspection, The dash already have error code and usually a professional would say, your car will fail this inspection with these codes on. Nevertheless, they perform the smog check inspection and take the labor money. I would say don't go to this auto Shop. read more

Absolutely poor service. I've gave my business to Sunrise Auto Service for years, and yet they would charge me the full amount for service for a simple battery change-out. I bought my battery at O'Reilys and needed help swapping the old one out, and yet they still charge full service for a 5 minute service, dismissing the fact I've taken my car to their shop for years. Not only that, but they always seem to find something wrong with your car and insist on working on it to charge more. One last note, they charge too much for their service and parts. I had my spark plugs changed and was charged an upward of $400. I would not take my business to Sunrise Auto Service in San Francisco. read more

I had a flat tire around the corner from them. I decided to take it in rather than dealing with it myself this time, and I'm glad I did. The mechanics were at lunch when I got there, but they agreed to fix the tire first thing. It only took them 15 minutes (meaning they pushed me to the front of the line) and they patched my tire, put it back on, put the donut away, and checked the pressure on the rest of the tires. All for $20, which I would say is a very fair price. Next time I have something that's actually complicated, I'll take my car in and see how they do. Its certainly closer to my house than the place I've been going to. :) read more

Cheap oil change. Convenient location. Moderately fast service.

This is a junk yard shop, they resurfaced my rotors and replaced my pad but my wheel shakes when I brake. Avoid this place when you can.

I took my perfectly running car here for a simple oil change and ended up with having to pay over 1200 dollars in repairs and my car still is not running properly. Eric who I believe is the owner or manager has no customer service at all. I explained to him that after the oil change my car suddenly cut off and has never done that before. He simply said they did nothing wrong and 120 bucks for a diagnostic. Are you kidding me??! I couldn't believe how rude and uncooperative this shop was to a paying customer. Please please beware of these scammers! They will take your money, do crappy work on your car but will not stand by their so called "work" nor mistakes. Never again and Lesson learned! read more

The customer service is horrible, awful and terrible! I came to Sunrise Auto on San Bruno to get my car smogged a couple years ago and then I gave them a second chance to get work done but they are just plain rude again!! The worse part is that they don't even care! This is very bad business and they are building a bad reputation for themselves. This year I took my car to Valero Gas Station just one block away on San Bruno to get my car smogged. They had excellent customer service and the owner even gave me a $10 discount! Sunrise Auto does not deserve my business. read more

I took my 1989 Toyota Corolla there a few years back to get the timing and water pump done. The price was about $400. Good honest work.

No Stars for Sunrise. They lied to me to get more money. It is a complicated story, but the point is they either did not take the time to check that my brake lines were about to rust through, or they did notice and chose not to tell me so they could collect the money for new brakes. Either way, they were negligent and untrustworthy. I will never ever go back to Sunrise. Eric, the owner, was unapologetic for the harm he could have caused to me and my family and others that may have gotten hurt. The brake line did in fact erupt 2 weeks after the new brakes were installed. That is how I discovered the scam that Eric pulled on me. Luckily no one was hurt. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. read more

Although signs were posted about a minimum charge if your vehicle doesn't pass a smog test the staff should tell you with words. Sure a disclosure posted on the wall protects the business as a customer, you still feel ripped off. The point of doing business is to provide good customer service as well as service. The worker was not even willing to answer questions I had. I did business with this place in the past but the vehicle was new. So It past with flying colors. I feel he took advantage of the fact that the car was an older model and noticed we didn't walk into the office. If he disclosed the information with words we would have left and he wouldn't of made $58.95. The reason we didn't walk into the office is because it was filled with cigarette smoke worse then a bar in the 1980's, when smoking was aloud even in banks. Talk about second hand smoke. The business doesn't even care about the law of smoking in a work place. That place needs to be fined and monitored. Nevertheless I will never go back to Sunrise Auto Service for any type of service. I like to keep business in the neighborhood but must now find somewhere else. No stars for silent businessmen that only care for the buck and not pride. read more

Today on January 11 2013 at approximately 8:53am I drove my car to to Sunrise Auto Service in San Francisco to get a complete diagnostic conducted, because I was smelling gas when I drive my car.The price for the diagnostic is $98.00 from which I was told by the mechanic , and I was okay with that. At 10:46am I received a phone call from one of the mechanics telling me my car is ready for pick up. Over the phone I was told nothing was wrong with my car, and the gas smell i was smelling is cleaned up. I told them thank you, but also inquired about the diagnostic they said they were going to conduct on my car. The mechanic told me he didn't conduct a diagnostic because he was only searching for the gas smell, but he was still going to charge me the full price for a diagnostic. Shortly after I arrived at the auto shop and immediately questioned for an invoice. The mechanic handed me a blank invoice, which stated nothing concerning the full compete diagnostic I originally requested. I asked the mechanic if he checked the engine, holes, tries, & etc..He told me no, only the A/C. I told the mechanic that I was dissatisfied with the service, because I was being charged for something I'm not getting. The mechanic didn't seem to care and stared to walk away. I told the mechanic that he leaves me no choice but to contact Better Business Bureau explaining how they're scamming the customers for work they're not doing. The mechanic's voice quickly got loud and told me "So What Do It" I told the mechanic to ring me up so I can get out of the shop and asked for my car keys. The mechanic told me that he didn't have my car keys and didn't know where it was. Then he changed his answer after two minutes and said the owner has my car keys, and he didn't know where he went. I stared to raise my voice at the mechanic and claimed I was going to call the police, the mechanic said "I Don't Care" and walked a away again. I called 911 on my cell phone and gave the location to the dispatcher, and while talking to the dispatcher I saw two police officers driving on San Bruno st. Quickly yelled out to them for assistants on paying the bill and retrieving my car back. I explained everything to the officers from the start to finished. Then the mechanic had his turn, but the officers were puzzled from the situation. they didn't understand why was I being charged for something they did not perform. The mechanic also handed the Officers the same blank invoice I was first given. The officers were still puzzled. The officer explained to the mechanic that all I wanted to do was pay and leave. At the moment the mechanic stared typing in the computer creating a invoice for me, but none of it was about the Full Complete Diagnostic I requested. It didn't explain the results from the computer, because the mechanic never conducted a diagnostic on my car. I was out of $98.00 today, I feel scammed, overlooked, and I left dissatisfied. If it wasn't for the Police officers who drove by at the right time, I don't even know what could have happen. They stayed there with me the whole time until I left the auto shop. None of this didn't make any since to them. I would never recommend anyone to Sunrise Auto Shop. Not only will they try to keep you car, but they would over charge you. read more
