I am one of those overbearing dog moms and they understand that. The only negative thing I would say is I wish they didn't charge so much - a simple 10 minute exam or 5 minute gland squeeze has been as high as $80. And I wish their charges were consistent. Sometimes these short appointments are $35, other times $80 - confusing. My current dog had two dental surgeries a few month's apart. Two vets did the surgeries. Because of their preferences (anesthetic, blood work, medications etc.), one vet charged $580 and the other $720. Of course I would pay anything for my girl, but was just disappointed in the differences. When one of my dogs was attacked and killed by another dog, they allowed me the time in one of the rooms to hold my dog and grieve for her. It was a traumatic time for my family, and the vet techs showed us great sympathy. I regret not formally thanking them for this. Overall, good, long-term people work here and they really try to understand how important the human/pet relationship is, balancing that with necessary, proper and compassionate care of animals.

Our experience with Crescent Falls Vet has been horrendous…read more We rescued a bully from California last year and I brought her to this vet as this is where our other pets have gone. Fiona's first surgery with Dr. Ringess was for entropian eye correction on both eyes, spay, hernia repair and a large baseball sized lipoma removal. The lipoma was not removed at the time of surgery and no explanation given. Shortly after, upon check up, we were told she needed to have her right eye done again because enough tissue was not removed and they would remove the lipoma that they missed the first time. AGAIN the lipoma was missed without explanation. Fast forward only 5 months later, her lipoma has gotten larger, her eyes were looking off to me and she was starting to get a few bald spots on her skin. I took her in at which point Dr. Schimpl told me that both eyes needed to be redone AND she wasn't sure why the lipoma never was removed and that it WAS an over sight by Ringess. Also at this time, Dr. Schimpl did a FULL exam as she said Fiona was due. I was told by Dr. Schimpl that her mouth looked good, NO problems. I was also told that the skin didn't look like ringworm so it seemed "extreme" to do any further tests. By this time I had lost faith in these "doctors" so one week after this exam, I took her in to Panorama Veterinary clinic for a second opinion. This vet looked in Fiona's mouth and told me she had 4 infected ROTTING teeth that needed to be extracted. I was mortified when she showed me how wiggly these teeth were. She was also able to easily take a few little scrapings off the bald patches to check for bacterial infections. When this vet looked over the notes from Dr. Schimpl, they read "skin and coat look normal" there were NO notes about the bald spots that had JUST inquired about. I am absolutely horrified at the care of my sweet girl. This was absolute negligence on more than one occasion. I can not believe that a vet stood there and told me her mouth was absolutely fine and wouldn't even do a SIMPLE test to make sure her skin wasn't infected. The fact that this lipoma has been missed twice AND she needs a third surgery on her eye within a year speaks clearly to the utter incompetence of Dr. Ringess. I have filed a complaint with the College Of Veterinarians of BC and I would advise against using this vet and if you do, ALWAYS get a second opinion.

I went down the list of local vets and didn't have any luck until we called Vernon Vet Clinic. The clinic is big, bright, clean, well organized, well-staffed and very welcoming. It definitely put our minds at ease. Nothing was serious with our dog, but we were VERY happy and very grateful we got in to see someone Christmas Eve with their level of professionalism.

The vet made no effort to contact me about the $200.00 work. I called 3 times to hear about the results. Finally had this vet call me back when I wasn't home, she said she'd get back to me the next day. Never heard anything, ever. A visit I had 6 months before this visit with my other dog. The meds. she prescribed was twice as strong as what my dog was getting previously, and didn't work. I had requested the vet. to order in the proper strength. She couldn't be bothered to do this. So I'm not a customer of this incompetently run business anymore.

If these guys had charged me $30 or even $40 for a kennel cough vaccination I wouldn't have given…read moreit much thought. But $90 seemed a lot so when I got home I googled "kennel cough British Columbia" and found two items of interest. The first is that the SPCA in Vancouver has a facility at which they give these things and that they charge $29 for kennel cough. (http://www.spca.bc.ca/veterinary-services/vancouver-animal-hospital/adopt.html) Perhaps these veterinarians need some competition. From what I witnessed there is not a lot of skill required to give a dog a spray through the nose and there must be many people in the pet care business who could do it. One has to note a lot of people have an emotional attachment to their pets and it appears veterinarians are exploiting this. The second item was an article by a Vancouver based veterinarian who claimed that kennel cough vaccinations are really not needed. (http://peterdobias.com/blogs/blog/11015065-kennel-cough-vaccine-exposed) It appears that kennel cough is the dog equivalent of the human cold, are generally very mild and usually clears up in two or three days. These vaccinations are required by kennel operators to protect themselves from liability. He suggests that owners leaving pets with a kennel sign a waiver that if their dog gets kennel cough will not hold the operator liable. There has to be ethical concerns about "professionals" who use their monopoly power to exploit the emotions of their customers to charge three times as much as they should.

I gave her a $20 tip making it $240 and then she started charging me $240. I didn't leave a tip after that and was always reminded that people always tip. I started paying $240 for the next few visits. Last September she did all four of them in an hour, so she basically got $240 for an hour's work. Recently I dropped off all 4 pets again as I had done many times before (2 cats and 2 small dogs) and after the appointment, Danielle sprung a total of $320 on me saying her costs had gone up and without any warning or prior discussion of the increase change, she threatened to call the cops if I didn't pay. I was absolutely shocked. She said if I wanted to keep having my pets groomed by her, I'd have to pay $95 for each of them next time or don't bother coming back. She later recanted that to $80/each. After some back and forth discussion, she finally agreed to the $240 for the last appointment, but later texted me making me feel bad by insulting me. I had to block her and won't be going back again. She has tried increasing the price after the fact other times, but I just thought she forgot what she had quoted me because she had a tendency to forget conversations and also appointment times. She isn't very organized. It was clear from this last incident that she does not honour her quotes and it's common practice for her to charge more after she's completed the job. I find this unethical and am disappointed things had to end the way they did. Read the reviews and always confirm the cost in writing in advance so this doesn't happen to you. That said, it didn't matter to her even after I showed her the texts she sent me that clearly confirmed the cost. It's obvious she doesn't care about losing customers or she would never embarrass and humiliate a customer the way she did me. In a way she did me a favour because Lake Country was quite far for us to drive anyway and also, I could never trust her with my pets again after this ordeal.
