Our experience with Crescent Falls Vet has been horrendous.
We rescued a bully from California last year and I brought her to this vet as this is where our other pets have gone.
Fiona's first surgery with Dr. Ringess was for entropian eye correction on both eyes, spay, hernia repair and a large baseball sized lipoma removal.
The lipoma was not removed at the time of surgery and no explanation given.
Shortly after, upon check up, we were told she needed to have her right eye done again because enough tissue was not removed and they would remove the lipoma that they missed the first time.
AGAIN the lipoma was missed without explanation.
Fast forward only 5 months later, her lipoma has gotten larger, her eyes were looking off to me and she was starting to get a few bald spots on her skin.
I took her in at which point Dr. Schimpl told me that both eyes needed to be redone AND she wasn't sure why the lipoma never was removed and that it WAS an over sight by Ringess.
Also at this time, Dr. Schimpl did a FULL exam as she said Fiona was due.
I was told by Dr. Schimpl that her mouth looked good, NO problems.
I was also told that the skin didn't look like ringworm so it seemed "extreme" to do any further tests.
By this time I had lost faith in these "doctors" so one week after this exam, I took her in to Panorama Veterinary clinic for a second opinion.
This vet looked in Fiona's mouth and told me she had 4 infected ROTTING teeth that needed to be extracted. I was mortified when she showed me how wiggly these teeth were.
She was also able to easily take a few little scrapings off the bald patches to check for bacterial infections.
When this vet looked over the notes from Dr. Schimpl, they read "skin and coat look normal" there were NO notes about the bald spots that had JUST inquired about.
I am absolutely horrified at the care of my sweet girl.
This was absolute negligence on more than one occasion. I can not believe that a vet stood there and told me her mouth was absolutely fine and wouldn't even do a SIMPLE test to make sure her skin wasn't infected.
The fact that this lipoma has been missed twice AND she needs a third surgery on her eye within a year speaks clearly to the utter incompetence of Dr. Ringess.
I have filed a complaint with the College Of Veterinarians of BC and I would advise against using this vet and if you do, ALWAYS get a second opinion. read more
