Back here again! Went here on Friday November 28th 2025 with my parents. We were heading back to SC from NY. We got regular fuel here. Price for that day was 3.11 per gallon. pumped fuel and paid. We also used the restrooms at the 7/11 at the gas station. After that, we went on our merry way. Easy to get fuel and easy to get back on I-95. read more

Note: I wrote most of this review a number of months ago and decided to leave it in drafts, but have more recently had an experience that, while much better than this train wreck of a visit, reinforced that they don't have it all together. The old draft (a little edited): Once upon a time, this was either the best or in close contention for the title of best I-95 rest area gas station. It deteriorated a little over time but stayed decent. But, my most recent visit was an all time low. Roughly half the gas pumps were marked out of order. After waiting a long time to finally get to a supposedly in-order pump; I got to one that malfunctioned. It only filled half the tank and then started spitting gas from the wrong end of the nozzle. I tried adjusting the position a few times to no avail. I wound up only getting a half tank of gas, since it wouldn't fill my tank further, while getting a pool of gas in the space inside the door to to the gas tank and a bunch of gas on my hands, boots, etc. (I've filled many a gas tank with everything running smoothly, and I am very sure the problem wasn't the user). I went into the attached store to try to wash the gas smell out of my hands so that I wouldn't have to smell that throughout the drive, but the bathroom had a dank smell and water (or worse) all over the floor. Then, I tried to buy a couple of things to make the experience less miserable, and after waiting in a slow moving line, found that their payment terminal was freezing up or something. Add on from my more recent visit: Most pumps were working, but not all. I could successfully, after card read errors and other such glitches, successfully fill my tank, and the whole store looked a little disheveled, and it had an area blocked off awaiting cleanup of some mess (but, that could have been a customer-caused mess that could happen anywhere), but it wasn't disgusting. Maybe this indicates that they're getting their act together, but I suspect that it indicates that while my worst visit was an especially bad day, they're often not firing on all cylinders these days. It's still an obviously convenient location, the store still stocks useful stuff for travelers, and while their prices probably factor in a convenience factor, so do many of the less convenient options along the way, and it's not super huge. I'd guess that at least half the time people don't encounter problems and that the pros of stopping here if you need gas right around here while driving on 95 usually outweigh the cons. But, if you're planning a trip and considering whether to plan it around stopping here for gas when you could just as easily stop at an earlier or later rest stop, I wouldn't assume this station will be great when deciding on those plans. read more

This is a very clean rest area with a few shops and fast food type restaurants. It's a good spot to stop for dog potty breaks too. There are healthy food options available here (esp) in the souvenir, beverage, snack etc shop. I feel comfortable stopping by myself here. Meaning: I feel safe. read more

One of my drivers stopped to get gas and they charged the card $5 more than what he got. They claimed it was just the pre-auth and the additional funds would be put back on the card. However that was not the case. The full amount cleared. Neither of the managers would take my call. So I have instructed all my drivers to never go here again. read more

This is the Sunoco APlus location located next to the big Biden Welcome Center; I was headed southbound and needed gas, the restroom and something to drink so I made the bad decision to just go inside after getting gas rather than going next door. Saturday April 16 at 5:45PM, the ladies room was DISGUSTING; it's a good thing they had a lot of toilet paper because I needed it to line the toilet seat. Gross sinks and trash all over the place. Went to get a Diet Coke but couldn't figure out which employee in the middle circle area was actually working; there were 4 standing near the registers, but none actually doing work - i.e. letting people pay - so I walked around with a few others trying to figure out what was up. I didn't realize they were affiliated with 7-11, I noticed that when the credit card screen showed it and I said I would like to enter my phone number for rewards points. Purple-haired Tracie gave me a BIG SIGH and reached her arm and claw-like fingernails to bang on the screen for me. No hello, nothing but a BIG SIGH and you all know no thanks or anything. I assume she was pissed because I took 60 seconds out of her hanging out time. Get the gas if you must, but definitely go into the welcome center for a wide array of food/drinks and the restrooms!! read more

Traveling late night and glad they were open, but maybe it's a generational thing, but the cashier was horribly. he had a line of people waiting to get gas, and he was leaning over the counter showing a video to his friend of some woman he was smashing (yes a sex video). he was totally oblivious that he was at work and he had a line of people. this place is a 7-11 now, but I understand it's hard to find help these days. read more

This was my last gas stop before heading into the Baltimore metro area. Although the place was a bit crowded, I didn't have a wait to fill up. I walked into the convenient store to get some water as well. The convenient store was huge, and had a good assortment of snacks and drinks. The staff was doing a good job of keeping the line going. I was in and out in less than two minutes. Filling up was hassle free as well. I was quickly on my way, but not before stopping at the Starbucks just past this Sonoco on the same rest stop. read more

Sunoco - Gas Stations Near Me - Newark, Delaware

This Sonoco is located in the Lorton Shoppes shopping center with the Giant, Five Guys, Squisito's, and Jersey Mike's. It is right on Ox Rd/ VA-123 near New Hope Church. The gas station and Sunoco shop are pretty clean. It is very well lit at night, so it feels safe--even though it's in a shopping center that seems a little remote. The convenience store is on the bigger side in terms of size and carries a wide variety of products from lottery tickets to food to snacks. They have a restroom, and it's actually pretty clean--not one of those dinky, disgusting public restrooms. I have never bought anything from the store though--that I can remember. However, I sometimes fill up on gas here.The gas prices are a bit on the average to high end compared to some of their competitiors. read more

Amazing highway rest station. No evil Exxon, which calms the senses. Entering the mall-sized building, it is clean, well appointed, orderly and safe. The stores inside are varied: There's the mandatory Starbucks, but there is also a great Brioche Dorée Bakery that serves some outstanding croissants. There is also a Baja Fresh, first I've seen it in a rest station. The rest of the offerings are standard: Popeyes, Cinnabon, but there is even a Best Buy Express. And because it's Delaware, there's no sales tax. Complimentary WiFi. Definitely one of the best gas and break stations in the entire interstate highway system. read more

Cards decline repeatedly at the pumps here. I even contacted my bank to make sure it was still working. I had to go in to pay, and when I did I asked if it happens often. "Every day." Fix your equipment. read more

So say you've got some time off and decide to go on a road trip south. Good for you! Enjoy yourself! Now... you've past the last rest stop on the NJ Turpike and you think. You know what, I feel good, no need to pee, no need for coffee, and/or I'm not hungry. Now in the past as soon as you got over the Delaware Bridge if one or all three of the previous urges hits, you would have to wait till Maryland house or get off 95 and search for salvation. Now thanks to the great state of Delaware salvation is at hand! And....Delaware is showing its larger surrounding states how its done. This rest stop kick butt. Bathrooms, always clean and plenty of stalls and urinals. Coffee, is excellent..... so freaking good. And.....plenty of snacks from fast food, to prepackaged sandwhiches.(ok, the sandwhiches need work) Now I know as you read this you think I'm nuts but since your on a road trip and have time to spare go to the last rest stop in Jersey. Then go to Delaware. Finnally go to the Maryland House rest stop. You will see how superior Delaware's rest stop is. So head on down to Delaware. Land of no sales tax and one kick ass rest stop. read more

We always stop off at the center for our meals both to New York and back to DC. The gas station is great because it has a convenience store which carries the Herr spicy popcorn and chips which are very difficult to find. read more

This stop is very clean and well lit. That's all that saved it from the depths of a 1-star. I stopped in because I was starving on my way back from New York. They seemed to have a nice selection of grab-n-go sandwiches and wraps. I elected for the chicken ceasar wrap for just under $6.00. I hit the road and take the first bite of the wrap. The first taste I get is something sour. I glance down, and the lettuce is brown and slimy. The chicken is yellow. Yes, bright, radioactive yellow. I open up the rest of the wrap and find the whole thing is slimy brown lettuce, yellow chicken, and cheese. Even if the wrap weren't a biohazard, there wasn't any dressing on it. Gas up here, then head over to Baja Fresh or Burger King at the travel center. read more

As other Yelpers said, this is the best rest stop I have ever been to, too. It's got a lot of nice, natural light; the bathrooms are clean and plentiful; and there's plenty of seating to kick back, grab a meal, gain some sanity back, etc. The buses can also park close to the building itself, which is a big plus. read more

There seems to be a pattern of declining credit cards when consumers are filling their cars with gas, to force you to come in and buy food and beverages. I also agree with the comment made by Jane about the lack of cleanliness and the employees. The employees need serious training! read more

Disgusting and slow! The women's room hadn't been cleaned in I don't know how kind. Toilets clogged with sanitary napkins and toilet paper all over the floor. There was one cashier actively working while two others were outside taking a smoking break. This was at 10:00 am on A Monday morning! This is a valuable location and it should be managed by someone who cares. read more

The nicest bathroom I have ever seen at a gas station stop.....and clean too! It had about five stalls and five urinals....not the usual one person bathroom. Stopped here on the way to DC. Nice store. The cashier was soo friendly and nice. read more

This service plaza is still shiny and new..and quite honestly, one of the nicest and biggest rest stops I've encountered. However, this does not totally make up for the fact that (with the exception of its beaches) Delaware still seems to be a wasteland of crappy drivers and expensive tolls. read more

they have LeBus sandwiches! quite good for a gas station sandwich and pretty good bread. Despite the fact that the gas station has somewhat of a captive audience due to the turnpike location, the gas prices are actually competitive. read more

New building and services are much better than the 20 something year old stations. Still have unhealthy fast-food options, don't expect to get anything that is not completely processed here. But it's clean and they have Starbucks, so I'm sold on it's value as rest stop. read more

At this Sunoco you never have to wait in line for a pump. It has the lowest prices for premium fuel which is all I use that I have found. The place is well kept. Restrooms are always clean. About the only thing wrong is that it looks like someone cut the air house adapter to air tires off. But the one over by the diesl station works just fine. read more

Definitely a crucial stop if you have to stop and use the bathroom which on the road is never easy. Not to many Starbucks around here, if you get what I mean. read more
