I came here for a massage & eyelash extensions 1.5 years ago and I felt somewhat uncomfortable about the experience and didn't know how to share it. THE MASSAGE I mainly felt that the massage was very uncomfortable because they never asked me any qualifying questions. When I arrived, a lady had helped me prepare, but then after I had laid down in a dark room and some whispering, what seemed like a male had taken her place. Immediately I felt myself tense up, because I felt more vulnerable being undressed under the sheet, while not expecting to be a given a massage by a male. And the whole time, I felt like something felt off, but I didn't know how to bring up the switch. On top of that, spas generally ask if you want your glutes to be massaged, and I wasn't asked and more so just a verbal check-in after the fact. After that experience, I didn't get a massage for a whole year, and yet I felt a need to tip them as the front desk lady and the masseuse looked at me expectantly. I'm not sure if they are aware of how the lack of communication could impact customers, but hopefully they can create a better experience for customers in the future. THE EYELASH EXTENSIONS I came in to try the deal that they were offering around the same time. The lady who did the extensions for me was truly giving her best, I could tell, and was very friendly. However, the process, wasn't totally smooth. I recall my eyes stinging because the glue would get into my eyes and after the entire experience was over, I realized my eyelashes were very stiff because there was too much glue used on each strand of extension! I think overall, despite the nice intentions of the staff, the services were subpar compared to many of the spas/extension spots I've been to, and it's like they are oblivious to this! I'm glad I finally got this off my chest after so long. read more

I hesitated on posting a review but feel that feedback is important so it doesn't happen again. The most recent massage I had really helped, although the previous time was pretty eh, so its quite varied. Without getting too deep into the details, if the owners care about their business reputation, they need to put a stop to the behavior of rude masseuses who act out when they are displeased with a just over 20% tip. If you Google, 15-20% tip is standard, with 20% being above average. I would understand being upset if some customers refused to tip at all or gave a ridiculously low percentage, but this was not the case. I appreciated my recent massage hence tipping what i believed was on the higher end of standard. I want to be fair as it is a local asian business and the front desk lady is very professional and sweet, and massages are a difficult job. but bottom line: it really hurts the image and impression overall when regardless of whether the massage was good or bad, the experience ends on a very sour note, leaving a bad taste in the mouth. Please do address this pattern of behavior as I've seen previous reviews with the same situation/complaint. If certain masseuses are more qualified and therefore have a higher service rate, please do convey that rather than giving attitude towards a confused customer. I googled top spa's in L.I.C and found this place! I stopped going to my usual spot in Flushing ever since I went here. Definitely lots of pro's for this spa. Very clean & the ambiance is relaxing. My go to masseuse is Lisa. My bestfriend enjoys Lucy and my boyfriend liked Joe. The only thing I didn't like was that when my bestfriend & I planned to get 1hr full body & 30min feet with Lisa & Lucy..Lucy told someone else to do my bestfriends feet. I personally think that's rude & unprofessional. My bestfriend didn't mind but if something is planned it shouldn't be changed last minute & then my bestfriend has to tip a diff. person. that's annoying as well. I also didn't like being told by the cashier that I should tip more next time. That's also rude! People should be grateful for getting tips for their services & not telling their customers on how much they should be giving the next time they come especially when 1 hr full body is $55! If you were to go with someone I would prefer the upstairs room. It has a door that closes which is great for privacy (picture of the room below) and not having to hear other people moaning so loudly which is very annoying while you're trying to enjoy your massage (happened to be downstairs). read more

A simple and clean spa spot for okay massages. I've been here decent amount of times for massages since they opened and on the scale 1-10, I think it's a 6. The spa is close to where I live and I like that I can walk in without an appointment (mostly in the mid-morning during weekdays) and get service right away. We decided to go for a foot massage after a long day at work. Our experience was not what we were expecting. When you go to a spa place you want to relax and leave yourself to the therapists hands. My therapist was yawning every 5 minutes! I'm not exaggerating at all! Every 5 minutes! And while she was yawning at the same time she stopped massaging me. There were also moments where she was talking to the other therapist who was sitting right next to her. Literally we were hearing the whispers while we had our eyes closed and trying to relax. But no! She didn't have that in her mind at all. Oh! It got better at the end. When it was time to change position she grabbed my feet and pulled them up to loosen them up I guess. It's very much similar to A's Bodyworks in midtown. A place I've long loved. It's no frills and thrills, professional massage work. Only thing I would recommend the owners and staff to do is just limit the amount of talking since there are no walls. Each space is divided by drapes so you can hear everything. There should also be communication in the nicest way possible, to clients that beyond the front door, there is a whisper voice policy inside. i start with good thing. I have two little kids and whenever i have free time, i came here and they always can do massage for me without taking appointment. I did few full body massages, my first cupping experience was here and i couldn't be happier. place is also always clean and great smells/ nice ambience Today I decided to try facial. First I had 30 min foot massage which was great and has been done by "Joe". Then time had come for my facial. It started nicely with lady who kept asking me if pressure is good, if everything is nice. Then someone brought phone to her and for good 15 min nonstop calls that she had to reply because nobody else could. Then from steamer few extremely hot drops felt down on my neck which left burns on my skin. Then lady was obviously so overwhelmed with an accident and with replying all the time on calls. She became rougher and irritated and probably made mistake mixing one of the masks( it was jelly mask) and it was too liquid and got into my both eyes. it was painful and scary and itchy. I had to be taken with closed eyes to the bathroom to wash it off. For that experience they gave 10$ off for next service lol. i am taking away only one star from my review because overall my experience at this spa was always excellent and i hope it was just one accident But if you don't have stuff to perform properly facial or you are understuffed and noone can reply phone calls, just don't take clients then. Tell them "today we cannot make facial, instead we can do this and that" In the end of the day, you come to spa to relax. I went for a full body massage here and didn't enjoy it. The massage therapist was on my spine several times, she also never really got in with her thumbs just mainly her arm and so I did not get much relief. At the end, she rubbed me very hard with no oil around my neck and repeatedly over my clavicle (on the bone). Very uncomfortable do not recommend. And then they asked me for a higher tip which was unprofessional but I see that's a theme from other reviews. First and last time for me! read more

Please support this place - I can't stand to watch more small businesses close! Their prices may have been higher when they first opened, but now it's $50 for a 60-min. massage and $75 for 90-mins. Those prices are comparable to Chinatown's, with the huge difference being this place is much nicer. Even better, you get a free massage after 10 sessions. I'm a pro at getting strong, deep tissue massages, and I endorse this place wholeheartedly. The first massage I got here was very good, and the second was even better. And while English may not be the therapists' first language, they are certainly fluent enough to communicate adequately. The only comparable place I know of nearby is Kata Spa. I came here because my usual spa was closed and my neck was hurting me. I asked my masseuse to focus on that specific area. After 1 hour....I still felt tightness on my neck so I paid for an extra 15 mins to focus on my neck. She rubbed my neck for 15 mins without oil which caused my skin to burn. She kept pinching my upper neck near my skull and I asked her to stop because it hurt but she wouldn't stop. She kept saying this will help your neck. Now my upper neck feels bruised. She kept massaging my armpit which is obviously ticklish and uncomfortable and I asked her to stop. She kept saying this will help with my neck. HOW? If I'm not comfortable then it's not helping. Overall bad experience and laughed when I gave her a standard 15-18% tip. The space is also super tight. I kept hearing her trip over things while she was massaging me. read more

I've been walking by this place since they opened and was super excited to finally try it because i wanted a cheap quality local massage instead of having to make the trek to Manhattan or Greenpoint. My gf booked us 30 min foot and 60 full body for a total of 90 mins. They didn't ask a name and just told us to come in. We get to the place for our appointment as scheduled and they don't ask our name, what type of massage, nothing. We get put in a room and told to undress. Fine, no big deal, I thought maybe we were the only ones that called and we were two so they assumed it was us and knew we wanted what we asked for. The massage itself was ok. Wasn't mind blowing but during the massage i thought to myself, "ok, will definitely be back, likely will get one massage a week given the price for quality". The masseuse finished and me and my gf asked each other "are we finished? We didn't get the 30 min foot massages..." but we decided whatever, miscommunication. Next time. i got dressed and went to the front to pay. This is where the 1 star comes into play. The guy accepting the pay told me it was $100 total ($50/each) for me and my gf which was perfectly fine as long as they didn't charge for a foot massage when one wasn't given. When i offered my credit card to pay he told me that there would be a credit card charge of $9.99 extra for the $100. I was blown away that they would charge 10% credit card charge!!! and it wasn't posted anywhere in the store that there would be a higher charge so definitely ILLEGAL to do that in NYC. So strike one! Luckily i had the cash so i told him i would just pay cash. So i hand him $100 and then i ask him if he could change $20 for two $10 bills. He gives it to me and i hand $10 over to my masseuse and my gf hands $10 to her masseuse who are both standing in front of the exit like they are guarding it. The guy tells me "oh they worked really hard and did a good job..." and i immediately knew he was telling me to tip more and the two masseuses were saying things like "we work hard, we strong" , it was super awkward. Strike two! I tell the guy i have no more cash and the audacity he had to next tell me i could charge it on a credit card and that it was a minimum of $20 tip for each masseuse! Strike three! I get massages often and my usual tip is $10 per hour if good and since the massage was $50 it was already 20%. This guy is basically forcing me to pay $20 each or 40% tip for a mediocre massage that wasn't even what we wanted. Instead of 30 mins foot massage they didn't even touch our feet which was mainly what my gf wanted as her feet hurt. I was going to say something but i thought forget it, not worth it. Never coming back again. Huge turn off. This is the problem. They are terrible at running a business. Instead if having a potential long term customer who would steadily supply them with referrals, weekly $10 tips now they get my extra $10 once and thats it. Way to run a business. I've gotten a different masseur/masseuse every time, and all of them have been good. The woman at the front desk is very nice, and always asks to make sure that my experience is positive. The LIC gods have answered my prayers with Sunny Spa. Well decorated, clean bodywork spa (meaning curtains, not rooms for massage) right in Jackson by the Chase. Aka all I have ever wanted in this neighborhood. I've been going to Astoria and greenpoint for the past 6 years. I had their menu dropped in my mailbox and normally I'm not a sucker for direct mail BUT I popped the address in my google maps and shed a single tear for proximity. It took me no more than 5 days to get my little tuchus inside. I decided to start jump feet first into the spa and get a facial. As someone who gets a facial almost every month, this was a big deal. I have my tried and true places that I haul myself to in manhattan and I cheated on them with someone completely brand new. Well, it was worth it. The facial experience was incredible, truly relaxing and a full body experience. It was a massage for my face, and the rest of my body as well, with no muscle untouched. The facials are upstairs in a private room, rather then downstairs with curtains. I will still be heading to my normal spa for my peels and more heavy duty skincare but will definitely come back for a relaxation facial in the future. I also instantly booked a 60min massage and 30min reflexology for next week so stay tuned for that experience. Highly recommend, they even have a loyalty card! read more

Vicky, the receptionist, was so personable and very friendly. Jenifer gave me an hour massage and it was unbelievable. I was so relaxed and she was able to target all the points that were ailing me. After that, I did a 60 minute facial. Monee, was fabulous. My skin felt so cleansed and refreshed after the facial. Vicky had told me that they just got some new products and that have been only used here at that location in New York City. A total disappointment.. My boyfriend made an appointment with sunnyspa for a couple's massage for my birthday. I was so excited because it was seriously needed after a crappy week. I believe we booked the last appointment time because of our schedules & we figured there would be less people during that time. I was surprised that we were not asked to show our vaccine cards for the safety of their customers & their own staff.. We were placed in a couples room & weren't told any instructions. If I was getting a massage for the first time, I would definitely be confused.. I've gone to multiple massage spas & I can truly say.. this was NOT IT. Instead of massaging out the knots throughout my upper body, the massage consisted of just effortless rubs on the side of my body. If you've ever attempted to drain your lymphatic fluid, it was sort of like that.. On top of that, my masseuse pulled my arm back, across the other side of my body & started drilling her elbow into my shoulder blades. That was so painful but I thought "she's a masseuse.. i guess she knows what's she's doing" Turns out, I had a pinched nerve & my arm was soo uncomfortable for the next few days. I asked my boyfriend how his massage was & he was not happy either. He was too rough, despite hearing the painful grunts my boyfriend made. Perfect if you're looking to get a GREAT massage place with no frills that's incredibly cheap! I was desperately in need of a massage due to neck issues that most likely was caused from sitting all day but really came to head a few months after having my baby and towing around a needy toddler. I stumbled into Sunny Spa and had Mike as my massage therapist. He was INCREDIBLE. I have very deep knots on my shoulders and a very tight neck. He went to town and wasn't shy about doing really serious work especially on my neck. I originally asked for a 60 min massage but then asked him to extend to 90 minutes because I didn't want it to end. The massage ended with a stone massage - this was my first time and i really enjoyed it. Mike was incredible that I started calling Dr.Mike! He is honestly better than most physical therapists, chiropractors and fancy masseuses I'v dealt with in the past. I love that this place strikes the perfect balance between a serious massage place while still having a relaxing atmosphere. Most serious massage places are typically brightly lit and are uncomfortable. Sunny Spa was dimly lit (with beds separated by curtains) and had relaxing music on. Note - this isn't a "spa". If that's what you're really looking then the Peninsula spa is your place (love that place but that's for a totally different need). read more

I booked it for my mom. The place is clean because it's new. However, getting a full body massage in a 30 degree weather without a heated room. My mom actually came back with a body ache !
