Hubs wasn't there yet so I headed to the restroom to wash my hands - I didn't even get to push open the bathroom door yet and a woman came rushing out from the kitchen area to tell me that I couldn't use the restroom unless I buy something.. let me say they are not in an area that has no restrooms, everything else in that strip mall, even the gas station next door as a bathroom it's not like anyone would come in purely to use the bathroom. I was taken aback I said I was planning to have lunch but my husband is not here yet so I wanted to walk my hands, are you saying that I have to pay for my lunch before I can wash my hands.? She said well my boss said no bathroom unless you buy something. On that note, I left, told my husband to meet me next door at Lenny's and we spent $50 there on lunch and ate it down by the waterfront instead of eating at Ortega's. I'm a business woman, in my fifties, who was planning to enjoy lunch at your place, not someone looking to just use your bathroom and not spend money in your establishment. Poor customer service makes people feel unwelcome, even if you did have good food people are going to remember in unwelcoming attitude over anything you may serve.. can't recommended them and that's a shame for the business because you had the opportunity for some great advertisement and blew it. The waitresses handled our group of 25 beautifully and with amazing patience. They will take orders manually, but they also have a kiosk to place and pay for your order while you take a seat and wait to have it brought over fresh out of the kitchen. There was not a dry mouth in the house. All were watering in delicious wait for what we each had ordered. The most popular dish? The brisket platter with choice of two sides. I chose the brisket sandwich and was fully pleased with it and the mac n cheese I chose to go with it. But, the way I saw folks went home with their leftovers planned for a second meal? Next time, it'll be a platter for me with hush puppies and their coleslaw with additional side of their baked beans. The truck is not just grilled cheese and fried foods (although they make delicious sandwiches and other amazing bites too!). Truly, Scott is incredible. He worked with us to create our dream menu, and the result was drool-worthy perfection. We did a regular cocktail hour with butlered hors d'oeuvres, a family-style dinner service, and butlered mini deserts. From the mini lobster rolls to the truffle parm fries, the apple-cider mustard BBQ braised short ribs to the duck confit - every single thing Scott came up with or we asked for was spectacular. Everything was full of flavor and executed so well - and all out of food truck and cook trailer! Scott's team of chefs, his hired waitstaff, his family - everyone was awesome.
