I thought I reserved a water view but apparently didn't, so I switched to a water view room for the 2nd night. They said since we were just switching rooms they'd let staff know so they'd do our room 1st...didn't happen, our room was actually ready after the 4pm checking. Time so we were in limbo. Restaurant was a nightmare, kitchen bar was sadly understaffed. We got there early for our 6:30 reservation, had to wait which is reasonable since we were early but they started seating walk-in sat 6:35 and we questioned it and suddenly our table was ready. Waitress was absent most of the time, she literally walked away from our table Mid order because she got distracted. 20min later we flagged down our bus boy and eventually got out waitress. Dinner arrived around 8:30 (6:30 reservation) and was just my husbands barely warm fish and chips, my food arrived a bit later. We just got it to go and left, $120 We won't get back in a resort restaurant that should've been better

In order to deal with Covid19, Riley has an ozone machine that runs for two hours to clean the rooms.' The cleaning wasn't done when we arrived (check in time is 3pm, we arrived slightly after that), so we wandered the far. We got to hold a chicken and pet a rooster, and then we tasted a few lovely ripe tomatoes from the greenhouse. We were excited to see a fig tree, although none of the fruits were ripe. The farmhouse was perfect for us as a couple. Lovely comfortable bedroom, mattress and pillows, with thick and soft sheets. The bathroom was large. The kitchen has everything you could want for cooking. We made pizza and plum jam while we were there. The farm eggs were great, as was the local yogurt and bacon, Dave's organic bread, and freshly roasted coffee. We didn't get any jam or granola (which we read about in other reviews), but we made our own. We loved being able to explore the garden. The kale was sweet and the basil was fragrant! Things to note: I had been really excited about the "soaking tub" but it was a little grimy on the sides. Though I suspect it was because the water there is hard, and I didn't feel comfortable filling the tub to soak in. I had also expected the pizza kit to be a rolled out pizza dough that you just put topping onto. What we got was pizza dough that needed to be rolled/tossed/shaped. The pizza oven also came with minimal instructions so we had to text Riley about it and then google how to make pizza. (450F, precook the crust, then cook the crust with ingredients). The pizza was very good though. We loved the black garlic and the tomato sauce. Riley was generous about sharing the bounty of the land (and sea!) with us, and we loved his hospitality.

It was an easy check in, friendly staff. The bay view suits are a pretty good size and the bed was comfy! The little kitchenette was handy to have, and was stocked with the basics. Great views and so close to everything. There are many stores and restaurants close by that are easy to walk to. The only little complaint we had was that the shower water could've been hotter. They had a cot for each of our dogs to sleep in, treats, poop bags, and a coupon for the neighborhood pet shop. I think it says a lot about a place when they welcome dogs with such open arms. Outlook Inn is also situated near the downtown area and is walking distance from some nice shops and restaurants. This doesn't count towards this rating but Orcas island was beautiful. I highly recommend you visit and stay at Outlook Inn, especially if you have a dog.

The only downside to the location is the fact that it is right across from an airstrip- so you get to see a lot of little planes landing and taking off while you are sitting on that back deck. Well, it wasn't really a downside for us since the friends we were with know a ton about small planes so we enjoyed the coming and going. And, you couldn't hear the noise from inside the condo. The condo itself was nice, adequate, nothing fancy. It was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was reasonably well-stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Mike at the front desk and Bo from the adventure outfitters were helpful and ready to make sure we had a great time. Great for families!

We rang the bell, looked around, called their number, but could not locate anyone. My wife and I decided to use the time to explore the island. Charles called, he had been out back doing yard work. When we arrived the second time, we were greeted by Charles with an apology and a tour. The home is tidy, eclectic and quirky. Our room was wonderful. Plenty of space, comfortable bed and charming. Another bonus of staying here was the breakfasts. The food is delicious and unexpected. I did not anticipate seared sushi grade tuna or oat pancakes that rival the best buttermilk pancakes. And the beauty of breakfast times is sitting with other guests along with Jill and Charles discussing everything from how it all began at the Kangaroo B&B to activities to do on the island. I have to say, with the exception of the amazing views from Mount Constitution, the water views from almost everywhere on the island and celebrating my wife, this B&B was a highlight of my trip.

These cabins and resort are perfect for quiet getaway from the cities hustle and bustle. Pure Heaven. Loved the people, the ease to walk out of cabin straight to beach, starry nights and the smell of the huge cedars. The sunsets are amazing, the birds are beauty singing every morning. I will be back every year. In fact sooner than a year if I can find vacancy. The staff was wonderful. We accidently left somethings and were contacted immediately to pick them up. We tried to turn AC on, but it wasn't functional. Tried to use fan, which was super dirty. We couldn't used Jacuzzi outside as it was not cleaned. The outside chairs had bird poop so couldn't even sit outside to enjoy the area. It was a queen bed, which is quite small for this place. We couldn't sleep 1st night because how it was and how uncomfortable bedding was. 2nd night, we decided to go back instead of staying here. Overall, not worth $800 for 2 nights. Will not be coming here again.

This is our 3rd time at Salish Seaside Cottages. We love Orcas Island and the quiet non-touristy…read moreprivate ambience of the cottages so for location and beachside properties I'd give it a 4. Some of the best seaside views or sunset on the island are from the beach nearby. However, the cottages are older and you have to put up with some minor issues here and there. That's understandable really but the service can be a bit variable. Their front desk is not always staffed so there is a number to call. And depending on who it is the service can be friendly or gruff. So service gets 3. We have stayed here in different cottages but Screech Owl is my favorite though it's the one that's not on the beachside. I just love the owl decor and the grand spaciousness of the cottage. The hot tub is the best in the Heron cottage as its in a secluded alcove and the sauna is nearby. Eagles Nest is a lovers den as it has one of the best ocean views and is a studio style with hot tub overlooking the ocean - very secluded and perfect for a honeymoon getaway. But for a family outing the Screech Owl has the biggest deck for entertaining and a very spacious - 'oh! I want to bake up a storm' kitchen. The caretakers are now living below it so some may not prefer it but I still like it. The pets are free here and no deposit/housekeeping is charged but they ask you leave it clean. We bring our lab who thinks Orcas is a second home as we come here so often! 4 stars.
