TL:DR - poor customer service, poor scheduling, poor time maintenance, poor communication, and poor manicures. Will never return. I was visiting friends from out of town. The 3 of us wanted mani-pedis. Because there were 3 of us, we made an appointment rather than just walking in. They told us over the phone to come at 12:30. We did. They didn't remember and hadn't written it down. So after a few moments of uncertainty when several of the 5 staff members looked at each other with questioning glances, the guy closest to the front door ("Tech 1") told us to pick our colors. So we did. We were ready with our colors by 12:35. Then we sat down to wait. They provided no additional instructions. There were 4 pedicure chairs open, and while we're picking colors, one of the staff put her client right in the middle of the 4 chairs so that we could not sit together. So much for all-inclusive conversation. By the time they were ready to seat two of us, the client in the middle had finished. Instead of telling our third person that they were ready for us, they sat a woman that arrived *after* us. She had an appointment too, but she had made it that morning. When I asked my nail tech why she was being seated first, both he (Warren) and his colleague (Tech 1) sitting next to him ignored me. I was loud enough for the client to hear, though, and she asked if I wanted her to wait. I was so shocked that the staff didn't respond to my question that I just let it go. It was clear by that point we weren't going to get satisfaction. The $65 pedicure was fine. Warren did a good job. The Mango treatment - mud, leg wrap, hot stone massage, etc - was nice. When it was over, we were shuttled to the nail dryer. After we sat there for a few minutes, Tech 1 asked if we also wanted manicures. Huh? YES, we'd said from the beginning that we wanted MANI- pedis. He was snippy with us even though we were doing our very best to be polite. At this point, I began to wonder if they were working there under duress. ____ The manicure was awful. I told Tech 1 what nail shape I wanted, and pointed to the nail that already had that shape. He proceeded to file my nails into oval points, not the soft square shape I asked for. When I asked for my nails to be flatter, he filed straight across to create a coffin nail effect. While I still maintain my youthful goth tendencies, that was NOT what I asked for. Again, it was clear I would get NO satisfaction. I paid the $87.50, Tech 1 finished with the polish, and I sat under the nail dryer again. _____ Tech 1 did my friend's nails too. When she was done, we dried under the dryer for a bit and then used the professional setting spray to ensure dryness. Been here three times. The first time I was able to get into my appointment on time and the girl did a nice job. The second time i had a guy name Warren who was hurting my hands from buffing my nails which i did not appreciate. The third time I had asked a simple request to please take off my current nails before doing my new nails and apparently that was a problem! They needed up taking them off after throwing a fit about it . The second and third time I went there the nails weren't done well enough for how much they charged for them. I was part of the party of 3 mentioned by Amber in a previous review. My manicure was terrible. I have lots of issues with my cuticles, and Tech 1 only trimmed them at the nail base, not all the way around. Two days later, my cuticles look awful. The lady who worked on my mom's manicure and pedicure was clearly frazzled and kept dropping things on the floor. I was vacationing in Killington and called several nail salons without a response. I called Sunny Mountian Nails, and they had an opening. The young lady who did my powder fill did a great job, and we chatted a little bit. When she was done, I asked for my toe nails to be cut down, which she did well. She was pleasant. i had a man named warren, he rushed my nails and cut my finger many times and now i have to watch to see if it gets worse because i woke up to it being orange, i walked in and got told to go to my desk to get my nails done and it had the last persons old set laying there the whole time he didn't bother cleaning it, he was very rude and passive aggressive ripping on my arm and getting mad at me for not being able to read his mind and do what he wants when he didn't tell me anything he didn't speak to me he just ripped on me until i understood what he wanted, i don't want to say the whole place is bad because im sure it's not awful but my experience with warren was awful i wouldn't say avoid the place but definitely avoid him read more

When I arrived, the studio (I just can't call it a spa) was packed. And no one acknowledged my presence. it's the best nail place in rutland. they do a good job. i've never had the problem of them not honoring an appointment. they are very busy so sometimes the service is a bit rushed, but never ending in a poor quality mani/pedi. it's not very relaxing or high end, there are flies and it's not spotless - and skip the waxing at all costs - but it's hard to find a decent nail place in rutland, and this one is definitely...fine. the best by far without driving 1+ hour. it seems they have many happy regular customers. i will continue to come here. read more

Really not thrilled with this place for multiple reasons. They care more about money than the customer and consistently overbook. I had a 4 o'clock appointment with my friend today and I didn't get sat until my friend was almost done. I sat there for 45 minutes when my appointment was 4 with more and more people funneling in the door. When I did get in finally I asked for my nails to be brought In a bit similar to coffin because I don't like them to flair out and they made them almost to a point and very uneven. Also the topcoat was done incorrectly so they have a ton of bubbles on them. Not many colors to choose from and they can't do much more than plain colors. I can't say I will ever be back. read more

Sunny Mountain Nails is a great place to get ANC nails!! I called last minute for an appointment and they were more than happy and accommodating to squeeze me in at the last minute. Tim did a wonderful job at taking the time to make sure that each nail was the same length and made sure the powder was evenly covering each finger. The warm towel and quick hand massage at the end is always one of my favorite parts. The cost is a little bit more expensive than a quick mall nail salon but the price is completely worth the extra time and care that is put into making your nails look beautiful! I would highly recommend this place for anyone in the southern Vermont region! *On a side note: There is parallel parking immediately in front of the salon but there is also a parking garage a half a block away which I would recommend. read more

I get the same service each time! And I pay a different price each time. I get gel powder ombré each time. I am a regular! A couple times it was 45, then it was 53 and today for not as good of a job and shorter length it was 60. Not including tip!Very disappointed! That's not how you treat a regular. I even recommended many friends to go to them! Not again! Honestly the cheaper inbred were Better. There should be some loyalty to regular customers. This place awful. I considered giving them 2 stars because they had my gel manicure done within 30 minutes and i was kind of in a rush - which is not something i told them. First of all, there seems to be no ventilation so it is a VERY strong smell inside this business, which is dirty and uncomfortable (boxes piled up at the door). Second of all, don't expect your nails to be soaked or cuticles properly trimmed and cleaned (doesn't happen). Your nails will be filed with the same dirty file that was used on clients before you. They dremmel (spelling incorrect, apologies) file your nails for gel manicures, which is awful; slap some moisturize on your hands and arms (no massage) and send you on your way. Also, with a gel manicure you are supposed to wipe of the "inhibition layer" which is that tacky, sticky layer left after the last UV cure, they didn't do that. I had a gel manicure done 7 hours ago and it's already chipped and looks like crap. See photos below. I wouldn't go here in a pinch, never again. read more

I've been going for a few months now..... listen, finding a good nail place in this area is frustrating to say the least. As for this place..... it's just ok. It's very inconsistent. The other day I went and had an appointment and I got a guy that absolutely had no idea what he was doing. I had to literally talk him through the process and I was trying very hard to be patient and nice about it but why am I charged full price by a person that clearly was not trained properly? Everything he was doing was really wrong. I had gone 3 weeks prior and while that guy was a bit better, he failed to flood the nail and they just were peeling off. So after this guy filed the polish off, I saw all the dirt between the nail and the acrylic. I explained that I didn't know it was like this and they had to be taken off due to bacteria and fungus that could grow. He didn't really understand and I had to explain it a few times. Instead of soaking them off, he tried to pry them off. It was horrible. He then proceeded to apply new acrylic before wiping the nails with alcohol..... if there was dirt, it needs to be sanitized. I was there for 2 hours. It was ridiculous and they don't look good. They are lumpy and the polish application is terrible. I'm not going to post a picture bc I still go and I don't want any mad at this review but they need to put trained people in the floor. I should NOT have to walk my nail tech through the process. I wish I could bring this to the owners attention but from other reviews, sounds like I'll just get yelled at or ignored. God, someone please open a mail place with people who care and like what they do. read more

This place sucks! My nails are uneven and they didn't even do the cuticles! I complained, and they just yelled at me. Said they were perfect, but that they would fix what I thought was wrong. But, wouldn't give me a new set for free...if the cuticles aren't done correctly the nails can lift off. I went to this salon every two weeks for the last year for a gel fill and a pedicure. As long as "Mei" did my fingernails, I was always pleased. She always does high quality work. She is as good a nail technician as there is anywhere in this country, and she is polite and kind. Since she left, my own very long fingernails were most recently destroyed by her husband, who I think is the manager, who butchered them and did a crappy job in every regard. Bringing his uneven filing and lack of pushing back my cuticles and actually doing a decent fill did not help, it made it all worse as he haphazardly fixed his errors in a worse way than before he did it wrong the first time. I'm sitting in another salon three days later paying to have the set he wrecked removed and replaced, with my own real nails filed badly to the point I will probably have to start over with tips. This unfortunately has not been my first poor experience. For the past three months, every random guy who could not speak a word of English did either my pedicure or manicure. Without fail, they used bits that drilled too deep for the dremel, burned me with the friction. cut me, and generally did horrible work. Avoid this place at all costs. I normally do not leave poor reviews, ever. I generally would not leave this poor review for one lousy service. I've spent hundreds now for poor work and will now be spending that somewhere where the employees and manager care about whether their work is quality or not. This nail salon does not. read more

Got my nails done for the first time at sunny's and i'm very impressed. The service is fast and the staff is very friendly (although it is a bit of a small space) i thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I tend to have a lot of patience but today's experience left me crying in my car. I've been looking forward to a new set and a pedicure all week as I have a very high stress job. I called to confirm my appointment time this morning and confirm I was getting a full set AND a pedicure. i was told yes, see you at 3. I get there and Grandy tells me my appointment is for full set only. I disagree and he says he'll try To make time. Fine. He then proceeds to put dip on my natural nails. Not what I asked for. I correct him, ask for extensions to be added and he argues with me and says "it's too late." I wasn't going to stand for that so i insist I get what I asked- a full set with dip!!! He hurries through the whole thing and leaves me with sticky nails and then refuses to do my toes. Unbelievable. I get being overworked and even making a mistake. If he had just calmly and kindly explained there was a miscommunication and he didn't have time for the pedicure I would have understood. I went in Sunday for a Pedicure. Not one of the 4 people working were licensed. In Vermont you must be licensed to do nails and waxing, both services they offer. It's a shame our state has no inspectors. Only one for Sunny and she was not there. The girl told me they were licensed in New York! I happened to find this gem while desperately searching for a spot in Rutland. I'm from the West Coast and the last place I went most of my nails began lifting shortly after I had them done. Joy was so awesome! She made it look as though nothing wrong had occurred. They are a small cozy place and very friendly. I have only gotten my nails done twice and this was the first time using this salon. I must say it is now one of my favorites because the people there are so nice and willing to accommodate you. I got the mani-pedi and an eyebrow wax which was quite affordable. I got a back massage (by the chair)while I was getting my toes done and she even massaged my feet.
