Really grateful that Blush could book me a manicure on short notice. I was nervous given a previous bad experience with a different local salon. Blush was completely honest and up front that I was booking with someone less experienced. Front desk greeted me with eye contact and a smile. Nail technician did an amazing job correcting previous ugly and chunky builder manicure. I never shared that I was unhappy with previous manicure so was completely impressed that she checked in with me -multiple- times to make sure I was happy with shape, color and texture of her manicure. I got a haircut yesterday and that, coupled with the awful customer service is why I'm writing. the haircut is terrible- the wrong shape, so old looking. this cut has aged me 20+years. the blowout was equally terrible. all around a bad cut. I called on my way home and they asked me to come back which I couldn't do. The owner refused to get on the phone and did not call me back. I emailed to explain the issue and ask for a refund. Again, I got no response. I called today to see if I could get the manager on the phone-and what a shock, they again refused to come to the phone. The receptionist I spoke with was rude, and just kept reiterating for me to come back. I asked what they would do, she said "they'll look at it." I asked if they'd cut more off and she said maybe. I explained this cut was too short already and there was no saving it and I'd just like a refund. She said the owner is refusing a refund. so I am out $75 with a supposed second tier stylist, and I have to wait for this abomination of a cut to grow out. I don't know how they have such good reviews bc my experience has been horrible. I would never go back. read more

I have been here twice. I came after a bad box dye job. I was visiting family in Rutland and decided to try to get my hair blonde. Last minute I called for an appointment on New Years Eve. Kim was able to lift some of the box dye the first time, not all of it. Recently I have returned once again getting my hair lifted and lightened by Kim. We were able to go to a lighter and more natural blonde there is still some box dye left but I am very satisfied. I love the color and my brushed root. Kim also cut my hair and the length is perfect. I made an appointment at Blush for a friend's wedding on a whim. I'm from out of state and wasn't sure what I was getting myself into but shortly after arriving, knew I was in good hands. Shelby did a wonderful job on both my hair and makeup and was super accommodating, checking in along the way to make sure she was achieving the look I requested. Hilary McCoy is a huge asset to the Killington-Rutland area! It can be really scary when you move to a small town and are accustomed to big-city-level-hairstylists, and I had gotten paralyzed trying to figure out who to go to in this area - I basically just decided I'd have to make the trip back to Boston if I wanted decent hair. But then I saw the Mountain Times article, and when I read Hilary had extensive Newbury St experience, and had just moved back to her hometown of Rutland, I decided to take a chance with her! And I'm soooooo glad I did. She saved me 5 hours of driving... and my hair looks killer! Her cut was absolutely perfect and she gave me the most perfect color blonde highlights. I have really fine hair so a bad cut can really affect it looking really flat, and a bad layering job can look really obvious and choppy. She knew exactly how to cut it and you can tell right from when you sit down you are with a professional. My hair was looking blah and boring having grown out from my last cut/color, and she totally revitalized it! I brought a few pics of the blonde color I liked and she nailed it. Plus she's really cool and nice and sweet and funny. And the salon (which is less than a year old) is really hip and stylish - not at all what I'd expect to find in Rutland. Yes you might pay a little more than at other salons in town...but you will look a gazillion times better. Totally worth every penny for her expertise. I doubt you'll find anyone better anywhere in this area. I have been going to Blush faithfully for almost a year- every 4-6 weeks for a color touch up with one of the salon owners, Paige. The atmosphere is nice, her work impeccable- which is what kept me coming back despite the huge scheduling hassle once summer started. No longer able to see me on Saturdays (the only day I can into the salon because I work) due to weddings every weekend for 5 months, the one Saturday in September I was able to snag (when I called in June!), my appointment was no longer there and a wedding party had been booked in it's place! I am glad they are doing a great business, but it is a complete inconvenience when a loyal, repeat client can't get an appointment that suits my schedule (even when I tried to schedule during the week for an evening appointment) . If you don't work, don't have kids, and don't have prior commitments- you will love this place. I know I did. read more
