Vinoteca Marylebone is an interesting place, situated near a pub, high-end shops and The Grazing…read moreGoat. On most nights, you can find it to be a busy place among those 30+ somethings, enjoying main dishes with an array of high-end (priced across the board) wines. It is also rated 4/5 on TripAdvisor, and so you'll see quite a few tourists here. It also gets quite loud in this small space, and so you won't be able to hear anyone further than 3 feet away. Our party ordered an array of items: Burrata: this is one thing that comes extremely well done. With little bread, we had to ask for more, however, this was because every bite my party and I wanted to enjoy the soft and fresh nature of this cheese. It lingers and leaves a creamy taste at the end of each bite. Cured Salmon: While not truly fresh, this salmon was done well with subtle smoked flavors. Agnolotti: Made from scratch, this dish is moderately filling but as flavorful as it gets. I think I rarely get to have fresh pasta that is prepared well and complements excellent European wines, so this was a treat. I highly recommend this dish or the lamb. Lamb: If you're a fan of savory, low temp rare-medium cooked meat then the lamb dish is your new best friend. The cuts were substantial and accompanied with a sauté of vegetables. There was also the pork collar entree, beetroot appetizer, poached peach, americano, chocolate tart and strawberry meringue items. I would say out of these, the meringue and chocolate tart were the most visually and taste-wise impressive, but to the liking of ones taste (of course). Service: the service, between two workers, was absolutely terrible. The servers had to be hailed multiple times, and did not deliver service promptly. Even for the check, there was a delay and we could not get responses about items on the menu when we had questions. There was not only poor responsiveness, but also poor knowledge of what was being done or cooked between chefs and wait staff. While not tipped in the UK, I found that this service to be even more dismal than other restaurants I visited. Due to this reason and the noise, it is highly unlikely that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting London and looking for a good business meal. If you're not on a timetable, however, this might be a good place to spend a few hours.

I very much liked it here...especially the fact that they have Prosecco running from the tap ;-)…read more Just like the Vinoteca in Farringdon, this is a place where you just feel comfortable the moment you walk in: it's warm interiore, friendly chatter and happy people. When I was here, I first sat at the bar, while waiting for a few friends to arrive. I ordered a glass of wine and the guy behind the bar was really friendly and took the time to recommend something nice for me. Later we sat down and enjoyed a lovely meal - I ate the steak which came with double-cooked fries...what an indulgence! Attention though: they only take reservations for lunch. So if you want to come with a group of friends here in the evening, I recommend to send someone ahead and put your name on the waiting list. This place gets busy!

There are some great places to eat Italian food in Stroud Green. The Italian Farmers does amazing…read moresandwiches and great meats; Pizza Pappagone is constantly packed with a big crowd; La Porchetta is a staple for my birthday parties for the last 10 years; Fabrizio does the best pizza in London - please go there! I don't want it to close; but Il Piccolo Diavolo is so much more than all of those together. An intimate, unpretentious atmosphere in this family-run place makes it perfect for couples or small groups. It's never too busy - you may need to wait a few minutes on a Friday night but you should get seated. The owners are extremely friendly and I love capping the meal off with a Limoncello. But the food? Get the burrata if they have it on special. Get the mozzarella, antipasta platter or Arancini if not. For the main, look at the menu standards but get them to explain the specials. You won't understand it all but trust me it'll be great. If you can persuade one of your table to get a pizza do it. It won't be as good as Fabrizio's but that's more of a take away thing. Order 500ml of the house wine per couple. Top up with more or beers as you see fit. If you're still full get the panne cotta. This is pasta as it should be. With rich sauces. Lovely service. I just love, love, love this place. I was compelled to write this review when I saw nobody else had bothered to. The next time I go, which will be soon, I will get some photos to add to the review.
