She made the entire conversation feel comfortable and easy. I have never personally needed to call for transport before because the facilities I was in usually scheduled everything for me. However, I have had the pleasure of being transported by Matt four times now, and he is truly the nicest driver possible. He is one of the kindest and most non-judgmental people I have ever met. He always makes sure I feel safe, comfortable, and cared for, and he is always such a delight to talk to. This company provides such a great experience for disabled and bariatric patients, which is something that is not always easy to find. I am so grateful for the compassion and professionalism they show every time.

I contacted Valerie, who arrived on time all four times I needed assistance. Just as important, she was friendly without being in overdrive. I wish I had that superpower :-) Thank you for taking such good care of me Valerie.

We'd use them again in a heartbeat even though they're on the opposite side of the Valley to us. More details: My mother-in-law had a pacemaker battery replacement surgery a few days ago. Because of the incision on her left side, it would have been impossible for her to crawl into our higher SUV which she needs a step for in the best of conditions. We wanted a transport service that would allow her to stay in her transport chair for loading and unloading. The reviews were good for Independence Transport and they did not mislead us. Valerie provided a timely estimate and assurances that they could provide the service we needed. We chose her company and she was great to work with. I am a terrible worrier and Valerie put my mind at ease. She has two vehicles available and she made sure that the one where the seatbelt came over the right side would be used so it wouldn't interfere with the incision. We had several text updates as to the time for arrival. She ended up driving the van herself and was at the right place at the right time to get us picked up. She was efficient and kind--everything we were hoping for. We would not hesitate to use this company again.

We requested at least 2 persons to transport and they took the job knowing they could not provide the needed help. This is by far the worst company I have dealt with in 5 years. I would NOT recommend them to my worst enemy.

During my father's final days on hospice, he required a catheter. I was instructed to clean the…read morecatheter insertion site (not simply empty the bag), and I was not comfortable performing this task myself. I contacted Home Instead and was explicitly told over the phone that this service could be provided. A representative named Erin later came to our home and again confirmed that catheter site care could be done. I made it very clear that this was the only service I needed, as I was providing full-time care with the assistance of hospice. I asked if someone could come in the morning and evening solely for this purpose. I was told they required a minimum of four hours per day, paid one week in advance at $40/hour, and that any unused hours would be refunded if my father passed away. That evening, the 1st caregiver arrived and after two hours informed me they were not permitted to clean the catheter insertion site, only to empty the urine bag. This was the sole reason I hired them and the only task I had requested. The following morning, the 2nd caregiver asked me how to empty the bag, as he was unfamiliar with the process. Before the morning shift ended, my father passed away. We used fewer than eight hours of the 56 hours prepaid. When I contacted the office to address these serious issues and inquire about my refund, I was told it would take two weeks to complete payroll and paperwork before a check would be issued/mailed for the unused 48 hours ($1,920). It has now been over two and a half weeks, and no refund has been issued. When I called again, I received the same vague explanation and was told the check still had not been cut. I am grieving the loss of my father and trying to close out final matters. This ongoing situation has caused unnecessary stress and forced me to repeatedly revisit an incredibly painful time. The last thing a grieving family should have to deal with is misinformation, lack of training, and delays in receiving money that was promised to be refunded.

My surgery was fine and the doctor was great, but Rhoda Rizkalla - the owner or manager - actually hung up on me when I called after the fact (I was a bit pissed) asking her about the charges. I even called back months later and asked for an itemized statement but they could not provide me with that. What?! Worse than this - I was in so much pain the day after the procedure (like childbirth pain, seriously) I left a message telling them this and no one called me back, ever! No follow up visit either. Not a way to run a business. Also, she didn't tell me the right office to go to for the procedure so I sat in the wrong office (next door) until I found someone there to help me, who ended up being Rhoda's husband. He was very nice, by the way. Just avoid this place mainly for the lack of patient follow-up by Rhoda. If something bad happens to you they may never know.
