Glad the Farmer's Market is back Wednesday afternoons. There is not much to do here, except during special events. Big expansive grassy area with a few benches and a fountain & statuary.

To be fair I think the experience here will largely depend on the event. I don't know that I would come here to just wander around as it's just a big patch of grass with a fountain in the middle. I was here for the Tamale Festival, which was a huge hit. The roads were closed off on either side making for a great walking vendor section without trampling on the grass. The city did a great job providing plenty of cops and visible security, maintain clear and safe walkways, lots of garbage cans, and plenty to do and see. Right in front of the court house there was a mariachi band, Mexican dancing, dancing horses, a ton of stuff. Face painting, lots and lots of local vendors, no one ran out of food, and the weather held off perfectly. I hope the city does more events like this here as the spot is in an ideal location and offers up lots of flexibility for how things are laid out.

The sunken gardens is not worth wasting your time to go to. I mean it's just a garden with a few statues.

Perfect for a daytime stroll. Grab a Starbucks and sit on the bench while enjoying the fountain.

Great little park but unfortunately some of the pan handlers can become aggressive. I sure wish they would bring the farmer's market back.

We knew it was drizzling, but hadn't had a message that the party was called off, so we headed up to Templeton Park to meet up with the rest of the family. At first the park looked empty, then we spied a group gathered in the picturesque gazebo in the center of the park. We parked close and walked over to discover our far flung family gathered for a festive birthday. The gazebo! Of course! Great shelter from the rain and room for at least thirty people to mill around. The kids were lining up for pin the tail on Pikachu as we arrived, then they took turns battering a pinata till the candy cascaded to the cement. As the rain came and went, the kids could run in and out of the shelter while we grownups congregated on folding camp chairs or just stood around chatting. We welcomed the rain and were so happy we got to safely enjoy an outdoor event!
