I have never seen such a large selection of frames in one store! All hand picked by Heidi herself…read more Beautiful and unique frames. The do come at a cost but you get quality. There's a sale once a year where I go and get my pretty frame. My prescription is high, and they use a great lab to make the lenses fit just right (if you don't have a high prescription, you may not understand what I mean). Oh and Heidi and one of her receptionist (forgot her name) are fantastic at finding a frame to fit your face. They know what they carry and where everything is!

The people at this office were lovely, but I can't recommend them since they will not let you apply…read moreinsurance for new lenses on frames not bought in the shop. I would be OK with the premium prices of $500-700ish on the frames I tried on, IF there were frames that fit my face and preferred style. But what I liked just didn't suit my face shape. I just couldn't find a single frame that I was in love with that sat well on me. It wasn't for lack of trying. Instead I wasted my time bringing frames I already had and liked back in. The other thing that didn't sit with me philosophically is that they were OK to charge me totally out of pocket (almost $500 for my prescription), but couldn't be bothered to let me use my optical insurance to bring that price down for me. Buyer beware, especially since the style frames they have aren't for everyone. I'd actually liked the styles they carried and that's why I'd chosen them, but none sat well enough on my face. If they can't be bothered to save their customers a couple hundred dollars if there is no frame sale in it for them, that doesn't jive with me philosophically. I suggest you folks reading this think about if this is the kind of place that deserves your business.

With two great thrift stores (buying used clothes = more beer/show/ciggie money) and the mighty boutiques called SWANK Gear and Slacker, the South Side was a Clash City Rocker's dream. Slacker was always the larger of the two stores, and I'd hit it up last in my shopping rotation. I bought my staples at the thrift store, my Young Ones shirt and awesome zipper skirt at SWANK, and hit up slacker for bags, pins, and accessories. The owner and employees were always really cool, loved to chat, stocked tons of flyers advertising shows near the front door, and didn't mind if you browsed. I remember buying tons of pins and belts and makeup and magazines and all that other stuff that a young lady buys when their college is giving her stupid amounts of money for purportedly being a good student, albeit one whose Mohawk put her perpetually in danger of being evicted from the Honors College. Time marched on, and SWANK Gear closed, despite my best efforts to save it - which included: doing their ads, promoting it at punk brawls and bashes and gallery crawls of all kinds, buying up everything Kris, the owner recommended for me to wear. Although it had a much better clothing selection than Slacker - which is not a slam at Slacker, since SWANK Gear, in its day, was also head and shoulders above Zipperhead in Philly and Trash and Vaudeville in NYC - I think its location doomed it. As Kris pointed out, it was on a side street, tucked away from foot traffic, and Port Authority cuts combined with alarming headlines about the city's decline warned younger kids away from the South Side and pointed them toward the malls. Also, in a move that was unbeknownst to me - but which would become obvious five years later - developers were targeting the South Side for Williamsburg-style Californication, and would ultimately strip it of its small businesses, to replace them with artisinal foodie restaurants and national chains. Slacker has stood the test of time, defiantly resisting developer efforts to replace it with a Bank of America and restaurants serving locally-sourced free-range chicken breasts in duck confit with walnut-aoli ravioli, artichokes, and organic baby carrots in demi-glace. Or whatever those menus say. I'm a pizza-and-salad kind of gal. For that, for its great location, and for its awesome staff, I give it five stars, even though my punk days are nothing more but a handful of memories, photographs, and stories that begin with "Back in the day..." The next time you're tempted to hit up Hot Topic, skip it and go to the South Side instead. Check out the thrift stores for your threads and Slacker for your accessories. Oddly enough, while cleaning my apartment, I just found my Velvet Underground "Peel Slowly and See" pin, which I bought at Slacker more than 12 years ago. It is never leaving the lapel of my favorite black military jacket. Love ya, Slacker...and Andy and Lou!

The store it's self is very sleek. I love how open the space is and there are plenty of mirrors around the store to conveniently check out which pair looks best. One of biggest thing with any business is customer service and SEE does not disappoint. It's probably the best the service I've ever received. All the staff are incredibly helpful, kind, and friendly. They don't push you to buy anything. Yes they are trying to sell you glasses but they want to make sure you are completely satisfied with pair you choose. One downside was I did have to call to see if my glasses were in but that wasn't really a big deal. I just picked up my glasses and I love them! Can't wait to go back and get another pair.

They gave me house-brand moist towelettes to clean my glasses with. These were very rough and either the isopropanol in their formula was made with extremely hard water or their added water was extremely hard, as judged by the absurd, persistent cloudiness from residue left on my glasses after a clean. Overall, wasted 20 minutes looking at glasses once and chem-perma-fogged my glasses during lunchtime one day. Friendly workers.

As of the time of this review, options for foods and drinks include a Giant Eagle grocery store, a Fine Wine & Good Spirits, and about 20 restaurants (e.g., Burgatory, Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Crazy Mason, Eat 'n Park, Jimmy John's, Longhorn, Storming Crab, and Yokoso). I enjoy many of the restaurants. Retail stores present a good number of options for clothing (e.g., Dick's Sporting Goods, LOFT, and Rally House), footwear (e.g., DSW and Shoe Fly), home goods (e.g., Costco, Lowe's, Michael's, Mattress Firm, and Petco), and health and beauty products (e.g., Bath & Body Works, GNC, and Ulta). Current entertainment includes AMC movie theater, Barnes & Noble bookstore, Dave & Buster's, Improv comedy club, Paint Monkey, and Urban Air Adventure Park. Other current businesses are a few banks, a few hotels, some cell-phone stores, a gym, and healthcare providers (e.g., dental and vision). As you can see, this shopping center has numerous options for different types of customers to eat a meal, go shopping, and be entertained. This shopping center does not contain all of my favorite stores, but I like it more than most other shopping centers in the Pittsburgh area. I had ordered two try-on boxes from WP probably five years ago and not found a frame that fit. Not only has the frame selection grown dramatically since then, but I love the Narrow, Medium, and Wide options. It's so helpful! (The majority of the Wide frames fit me very well.) Though I liked the option while shopping online, it's even more useful when trying on frames in the store. The store is beautifully designed and well-lit. Really, every store that sells eyewear should meet these minimum standards, but Warby Parker is the first eyewear store I've visited that I could truly say is a beautiful and comfortable environment. The associates are about as cool as they get -- the glasses they're wearing now is what the nation will be wearing in 2030 -- but also so genuine and nice at the same time. Three associates offered to provide me assistance, and all of them were extremely warm and welcoming. Bad news for me is that my eyewear plan gives me a crazy good rate at one of the big, nationwide eyewear chains, saving me ~$150 compared to what I would pay at WP for a pair of glasses and sunglasses. I was pretty set on buying WP product, but I just had to go with the massive savings. However, I'll definitely be back in the future!
