Excellent coffee brand out of Arkansas. My husband and I both had a salted honey espresso (hot) & it was exceptional! We sat at a table in the adjoining room, which was a CBD shop, And I was instantly greeted by Briana. Sadly, Briana is going to be moving away soon, but it was such a joy to meet her. What a fantastic personality! Meeting her made for a fantastic trip to this coffee shop. On top of that, I was meeting a cousin, who I had not seen in over 30 years, who happened to know Briana. Sweet reunion over a fantastic cup of coffee! Coffee was so good that we stopped back to get an Affogato for the 3+ hour drive home. That said, the overall vibe felt a bit forced to me, almost like it was trying too hard to create a certain atmosphere instead of feeling naturally welcoming. That's obviously a personal impression, but it stood out. I also tried one of the lemon baked goods and was disappointed. It was dry and not especially flavorful or appealing, which was a letdown because it looked promising. No regrets. The iced coffee was great! I always forget about iced coffee when I'm at a coffee shop, because I just usually order a hot black coffee. I'm so stuck in my ways, sometimes! But iced coffee was a good choice in this situation, and it came with a little vanilla cream, which was unexpected but a nice indulgence. The Grind is located right across the street from West Virginia University. It was packed when I visited, and I imagine it is almost always packed, because of its location. But the people who work here are very efficient and friendly, and my iced coffee was ready lickety-split. I got my coffee to go, but there are some tables inside the coffee shop to sit and relax, if you wanted to. One of my favorite things about The Grind is that they have a confession box in the restroom. I left a little confession in the box, because it promised that the box was "a safe place to share what you can never tell a soul," and I felt that I could trust this random coffee shop in West Virginia with my whole heart. There's plenty of space for studying or hanging out with a group, with couches, tables for two, or a bigger table for a group. The whole place is very clean, including the restroom which is a plus. The baristas are all super friendly and very helpful, offering suggestions when we were unsure of what to order. They have many options for drinks, including your standard coffees, cold brew, and specialty drinks. The lavender vanilla latte was delicious and i would definitely order again. I got the drink iced and the whipped cream on top tasted fresh and homemade. I love that you can buy a big bottle of cold brew to go in cute glass containers, which you can bring back to fill with a discount. Everyone i was with also enjoyed their drinks.
