Mikel was our cashier with his friendly smile and polite attitude. It wasn't just because he was in air conditioning on a hot day because later he was in the garden area as a cashier. I didn't mention it was 90 degrees this day but out to the lumber yard Clayton rescued us and not only help us load the lumber but he took the loader over and picked up the 60 lbs bags of concrete and loaded them so we didn't have to drive our truck. Duncan and Bryan T. also impressed us with their friendly help and really made our shopping experience delightful. Although known of them accepted my offer to help build our deck they took that suggested with laughter. The value even without the 11% rebate was better than in our area on this date but sometimes the dollar talks in this case the staff will also be why we will return.

Well, it's gone downhill. Latest attempt to shop there was dreadful, and not the least because of…read morethe rude, nasty manager who approached me as I was walking in. He was very rude, spoke overly loudly (and I say this as someone who wears hearing aids), and was gleeful (when I told him his attitude had me reconsidering shopping at Menards) about telling me the store didn't need my business. I did not feel welcome with my service animal, due to his behavior. I will nolonger be encouraging friends and family to shop at Menards and will probably cancel my credit card with the store. Hope that this guy somehow manages to make money for the store, cause he certainly turned me off today with my home improvement supplies list that I will be taking to Lowes.

One thing I've learned so far visiting West Virginia: This part of Appalachia is obsessed with…read morecryptids. Mothman, Bigfoot, Sheepsquatch ... the gang's all here in West VA. The community really leans into myths and spooky legends, and you'll find restaurants, shops, food and drinks named after these cultural conspiracy theory characters all over the place. The Thrifty Mountaineer is the place to visit in Morgantown if you're into cryptids, because there are so many cryptid items for sale! Plushies, t-shirts, books, keychains, patches and so much more available. Mothman is THE cryptid of the state, and there are lots of Mothman things here. We picked up some Mothman potato chips, because we were curious what Mothman chips would taste like. (Turns out, Mothman tastes a lot like barbecue Lay's.) The store is also an overstock and liquidation store, a notary public and a place to get financial coaching. I can't even make this up. This store is so cool and random, and there are surprises around every corner. The people who work here are hella chill. But you'd have to be if you own and operate a friggin' store dedicated to cryptids, right? If you sell soap that smells like the Flatwoods Monster, you can't take yourself too seriously. These guys like to have fun.

Such a fun place to stop while in the Morgantown area! They have a decent sized parking lot and…read moresome fun signage outside. The inside consists of two rooms full of cryptid merchandise, general thrifty items, clothing, and your typical touristy gifts. They have a thrift "bin" which is essentially a table full of random stuff for $2. We found an unopened 6-pack of Hanes boxers and some replacement inner tubes that would fit a dirt bike. They have very fairly priced shirts for men, women, and children. I left with a $3 Bacardi tshirt and a $.50 corkscrew in a velvet drawstring bag. The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. They were so pleasant. There are two comfy chairs in the middle of the main room where you can relax while the rest of your party shops around. I'll definitely be back to share this experience with others.
