My family traveled from all over and met up in a VRBO in Orlando (9 adults, 5 kids) to celebrate my dad's 75th birthday. He wanted to have a party and since I love food, I volunteered to take care of the catering. I had been working with a company on plans for the event 6 weeks prior, but 3 weeks before the event, they suddenly realized that it was a Sunday and they don't cater on Sundays. Talk about frustrating! Add to that, April is wedding season in Orlando and it was Easter Sunday. Well, Chef Kelvin to the rescue. His communication was absolutely ideal. From first filling out the contact form on his website, I had fun picking out the menu items and he worked with me on ensuring there was a good variety and one of our allergies was kept in mind. He reached out the day before to confirm everything, and then was extremely communicative the day of. His staff was so pleasant, and they were all respectful and helpful the day of the event. Absolute ideal communication throughout the process for me. And THE FOOD! OMG! It was so good. We definitely had too much, which was my plan (I always prefer to have too much, running out is no fun at a party). We kept some of the leftovers at the rental and our local family (4 adults, 1 kid) took some home too and enjoyed them. Chef came prepared with takeaway boxes and was able to package it all up for us. Here's what we ordered with a bit of commentary :) - Lamb Chops (I adore lamb and this was so well executed. He confirmed desired temp and nailed it) - BBQ Pulled Pork (this was a party favorite!) - Chicken Wings (loved the crispy skin and sauce, so good) - Pop Corn Chicken Bites (super popular with everyone! I had reached out to a couple of caterers in the area prior with the only requirement being the food had to be 100% vegan (very important to my brother and his bride). Every other caterer I spoke to pushed back on this and tried to get us to consider at least vegetarian (I think it might have been because they were intimidated by planning that type of menu?) but not Arthur's. Patty was our coordinator and she was a delight to work with - responsive, accommodating and put our minds at ease. The food itself was phenomenal! During cocktail hour there was a harvest table with all kinds of dips, roasted veggies, and a vegan sausage. They also had passed h'orderves which included a falafel, polenta cake and spring rolls which were to die for! The staff kept the plates coming so guests were never without something to munch on while enjoying drinks. At dinner there were 3 stations: 1.) americana/BBQ (buffalo cauliflower, jackfruit sliders, mac and "cheese", collard greens) 2.) Wok/Stir fry (tofu, rice, veggies, spicy sauce) 3.) Italian (eggplant rolitini, creamy veggie pasta, rolls) And then there was a late night snack! mini black bean burgers to satisfy the late night dancing and drinking craving. Needless to say no one went hungry and while this was a fully vegan menu there were only about 7 actual vegans at the whole wedding, yet the entire guest list raved about the menu. Her people were sweet, and we had a cash bar with a very nice bar tender, who also served free tea and lemonade. The food was perfect. Fancy salad with cheese, fruit, special greens, very flavorful and seasoned vegetables and loaded mashed potatoes, rolls, Tender Beef Burgundy, Chicken Piccata-I think-it was a few months ago-...
